1 Dopo questo, David percosse i Filistei e li umiliò. David tolse dalla mano dei Filistei il freno del tributo.	1 After this, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. From the grip of the Philistines he wrested. . .
2 Percosse pure i Moabiti, e, fattili stendere per terra, li misurò con una corda: ne misurò due parti, una per farla morire, l'altra per conservarla in vita. Così Moab fu assoggettato a David e fatto tributario.	2 He also defeated the Moabites and, making them lie on the ground, measured them off by the line; hemeasured out two lines to be put to death and one ful line to have their lives spared. The Moabites becameDavid's subjects and paid him tribute.
3 David battè anche Adarezer figlio di Rohob, re di Soba, quando questi partì per dominare sul fiume Eufrate.	3 David defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when the latter mounted an expedition toextend his power over the River.
4 David, dopo avergli preso mille settecento cavalieri e venti mila pedoni, tagliò i garetti a tutti i cavalli dei carri; ma ne riservò per cento carri.	4 David captured one thousand seven hundred charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiers from him;David hamstrung all the chariot teams, keeping only a hundred of them.

13 David si fece pure un nome quando, tornando dalla conquista della Siria, mise a pezzi diciotto mila uomini nella Valle delle Saline.	13 David became famous when he came home from defeating the Edomites in the Valley of Salt --eighteen thousand of them.
14 Egli pose governatori nellTdumea e vi stabilì un presidio, e tutta l'Idumea gli fu soggetta. Il Signore salvò David in tutte le sue imprese.	14 He imposed governors on Edom and all the Edomites became David's subjects. Wherever Davidwent, Yahweh gave him victory.
15 Così David regnò sopra tutto Israele, rendendo pure ragione e giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.	15 David ruled over al Israel, administering law and justice to al his people.
16 Gioab, figlio di Sarvia, comandava l'esercito; Giosafat, figlio di Ahilud, era storiografo;	16 Joab son of Zeruiah was in command of the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was herald;
