1 - E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:	1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
2 «Figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e dirai: - Così dice il Signore Dio: Urlate, ahi, la sciagura, la sciagura di quel giorno!	2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord God: Wail: ‘Woe, woe to the day!’
3 Perchè il giorno è vicino e si appressa il giorno del Signore, sarà giorno di nembo, sarà l'ora delle nazioni!	3 For the day is near, and the day of the Lord is approaching! It is a day of gloom; it will be the time of the Gentiles.
4 E la spada verrà in Egitto e vi sarà il terrore nell'Etiopia, quando in Egitto i trafitti cadranno morti e tutta la loro moltitudine sarà portata via e demolite le sue fondamenta.	4 And the sword will come to Egypt. And there will be dread in Ethiopia, when the wounded will have fallen in Egypt, and its multitude will have been taken away, and its foundations will have been destroyed.
5 L'Etiopia, la Libia, la Lidia e tutta l'altra popolazione e Cub e i figli della terra dell'alleanza con essi cadranno sotto la spada -».	5 Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the rest of the common people, and Chub, and the sons of the land of the covenant, will fall with them by the sword.
6 Così dice il Signore Dio: «I sostenitori dell'Egitto cadranno e sarà distrutta la superbia del suo potere, dalla torre di Siene vi sarà tutta una strage di caduti, dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti.	6 Thus says the Lord God: And those who prop up Egypt will fall, and the arrogance of its reign will be brought down. They will fall in it by the sword, before the tower of Syene, says the Lord, the God of hosts.
7 E sarà messa in desolazione, in mezzo a terre desolate, e le sue città fatte deserte in mezzo a città deserte.	7 And they will be scattered into the midst of desolate lands, and its cities will be in the midst of cities that have been deserted.
8 E conosceranno che io sono il Signore, quando avrò fatto avvampare l'incendio in Egitto e andranno in isfacelo tutti i suoi ausiliari.	8 And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have brought a fire into Egypt, and when all its helpers will have been worn away.
9 In quel giorno usciranno messaggeri da parte mia su triremi, per infrangere la cieca confidenza dell'Etiopia, e vi sarà in essa terrore, quando verrà il giorno per l'Egitto perchè senza fallo giungerà».	9 In that day, messengers will go forth from my face in Greek warships, in order to crush the confidence of Ethiopia. And there will be dread among them in the day of Egypt; for without doubt, it will happen.
10 Così dice il Signore Dio: «Io farò cessare la moltitudine che affolla l'Egitto per mano di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia.	10 Thus says the Lord God: By the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, I will cause the multitude of Egypt to cease.
11 Egli e seco lui la sua gente, i più forti delle nazioni, saranno condotti a dar il guasto alla terra e sguaineranno le spade sopra l'Egitto e riempiranno la terra di uccisi.	11 He, and his people with him, the strongest of the Gentiles, will be brought forth in order to destroy the land. And they will draw their swords over Egypt. And they will fill the land with the slain.
12 E gli alvei dei fiumi renderò asciutti, e darò la terra in potere dei malvagi e devasterò la terra e tutto quel che contiene per mano degli stranieri. Io, il Signore ho parlato».	12 And I will cause the channels of the rivers to dry up. And I will deliver the land into the hand of the most wicked. And by the hands of foreigners, I will utterly destroy the land and its plenitude. I, the Lord, have spoken.
13 Così dice il Signore Dio: «Io sterminerò i simulacri e farò sparire gli idoli di Memfi; principe oriundo di Egitto più non vi sarà, e spargerò il terrore nella terra di Egitto.	13 Thus says the Lord God: And I will destroy the graven images, and I will cause the idols of Memphis to cease. And there will no longer be a commander of the land of Egypt. And I will send terror upon the land of Egypt.
14 E metterò a soqquadro la terra di Patures e a fuoco Tanis e farò perire la moltitudine di Tebe.	14 And I will destroy the land of Pathros, and I will send a fire upon Tahpanhes, and I will execute judgments in Alexandria.
15 E riverserò la mia indignazione sopra Pelusio baluardo dell'Egitto e farò perire la moltitudine di Tebe.	15 And I will pour out my indignation upon Pelusium, the strength of Egypt, and I will kill the multitude of Alexandria.
16 E metterò a fuoco l'Egitto, Pelusio sarà nelle doglie, come una partoriente, e Tebe smantellata e in Memfi angustie quotidiane.	16 And I will send a fire upon Egypt. Pelusium will be in pain, like a woman giving birth. And Alexandria will be utterly destroyed. And in Memphis, there will be anguish every day.
17 La gioventù d'Eliopoli e di Bubaste cascherà sotto la spada e i superstiti saranno condotti in schiavitù.	17 The young men of Heliopolis and Pibeseth will fall by the sword, and the young women will be led into captivity.
18 In Tafni il giorno si abbuierà, quando avrò infranto gli scettri di Egitto e sarà annientata in essa la superbia della sua potenza; tutta una nube l'avvolgerà e le sue figlie saranno condotte in schiavitù.	18 And in Tahpanhes, the day will grow black, when, in that place, I will break the scepters of Egypt. And the arrogance of her authority will fail within her; a gloom will cover her. Then her daughters will be led into captivity.
19 E farò giudizio severo dell'Egitto; e conosceranno che io sono il Signore».	19 And I will execute judgments in Egypt. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
20 E avvenne nell'anno undecimo il settimo giorno del primo mese, che il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:	20 And it happened that, in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the Lord came, me, saying:
21 «Figlio dell'uomo, ho infranto il braccio di Faraone, re d'Egitto ed ecco che non è stato fasciato per farlo guarire avviluppandolo di panni, ravvolgendolo nelle bende, affinchè ristabilitosi, possa maneggiar la spada».	21 “Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And behold, it has not been wrapped, so that it might be restored to health; it has not been bound with cloths, or bandaged with linen, so that, having recovered strength, it would be able to hold the sword.
22 Perciò, così dice il Signore Dio: «Eccomi al Faraone re di Egitto e gli stritolerò il suo braccio forte, ma fratturato, e gli farò cascare la spada dalla sua mano;	22 Because of this, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and I will shatter his strong arm, which has already been broken. And I will cast the sword away from his hand.
23 e disperderò l'Egitto in mezzo alle nazioni e lo disseminerò per tutte le terre.	23 And I will disperse Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands.
24 Rafforzerò invece le braccia del re di Babilonia e darò la mia spada in mano sua, e stritolerò le braccia di Faraone e gemerà su se stesso nel gemito di un trafitto.	24 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon. And I will put my sword into his hand. And I will break the arms of Pharaoh. And they will groan acutely, when they are slain before his face.
25 E rafforzerò le braccia del re di Babilonia e a Faraone cascheranno le mani e conosceranno che io sono il Signore quando avrò dato la mia spada in mano al re di Babilonia ed egli l'avrà stesa sopra la terra di Egitto.	25 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon. And the arms of Pharaoh will fall. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I will have given my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and when he will have extended it over the land of Egypt.
26 E disperderò l'Egitto fra le nazioni e li disseminerò per altre terre; e conosceranno che io sono il Signore».	26 And I will disperse Egypt among the nations, and I will scatter them among the lands. And they shall know that I am the Lord.”
