| 2 Così dice il Signore: «Ha trovato grazia nel deserto il popolo avanzato alla spada, raggiungerà il suo riposo Israele. | 2 Thus says the LORD: "The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest, |
| 3 Di lontano il Signore si è fatto vedere a me; d'un amore eterno ti ho amato e perciò ti ho tirato a me pieno di compassione. | 3 the LORD appeared to him from afar. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. |
| 4 Ti riedificherò ancora e sarai riedificata, o vergine di Israele, ancora farai pompa dei tuoi timpani e muoverai in coro festante. | 4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall adorn yourself with timbrels, and shall go forth in the dance of the merrymakers. |
| 5 Pianterai ancora vigne sui monti della Samaria; i piantatori pianteranno e faranno la prima raccolta. | 5 Again you shall plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall enjoy the fruit. |
| 6 Perchè verrà giorno in cui le scolte nel monte di Efraim grideranno: - Sorgete e ascendiamo a Sion al Signore Dio nostro!-». | 6 For there shall be a day when watchmen will call in the hill country of Ephraim: 'Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to the LORD our God.'" |
| 7 Perchè così dice il Signore: «Esultate di allegrezza per Giacobbe, mandate fremiti di gioia incontro a quella che sta alla testa delle nazioni, echeggino le vostre voci e i vostri canti e dite: - Salva, o Signore, il tuo popolo, i residui d'Israele! | 7 For thus says the LORD: "Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, 'The LORD has saved his people, the remnant of Israel.' |
| 8 Ecco che io li ricondurrò dal paese d'aquilone, dalle estremità della terra li raccoglierò; anche il cieco e lo zoppo è tra costoro, l'incinta e quella fresca di parto assieme, una turba magna di genti che tornano qua, | 8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her who is in travail, together; a great company, they shall return here. |
| 9 che verranno piangendo sentendosi misericordiosamente ricondotti da me, e io li condurrò lungo i corsi d'acqua per la via diritta, ove non troveranno inciampi, perchè io mi sono rifatto padre a Israele, ed Efraim è il mio primogenito». | 9 With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back, I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born. |
| 10 Udite la parola del Signore, o nazioni, e banditela nelle più remote isole e dite: «Colui, che disperde Israele lo raccoglierà e lo custodirà come pastore il suo gregge. | 10 "Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands afar off; say, 'He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.' |
| 11 Perchè il Signore ha riscattato Giacobbe e lo ha liberato dalle mani d'uno più potente di lui. | 11 For the LORD has ransomed Jacob, and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him. |
| 12 E verranno a festeggiare sull'altura di Sion, e affluiranno ai beni del Signore, a goder del frumento, del vino, dell'olio e della fecondità delle greggi e degli armenti, e la loro anima sarà come un giardino irrigato dall'acqua, e non soffriranno mai più penuria alcuna. | 12 They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the LORD, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more. |
| 13 Allora la vergine tornerà lieta alle danze, i giovani e i vecchi insieme, e muterò il loro lutto in gaudio e li consolerò, e li allieterò del loro dolore. | 13 Then shall the maidens rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. |
| 14 E l'anima dei sacerdoti impinguerò di adiposo alimento, e il mio popolo sarà ripieno a sazietà dei miei beni», dice il Signore. | 14 I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD." |
| 15 Così dice il Signore: «In Rama si è udita una voce di lamento, di gemito e di pianto, la voce di Rachele che piange i suoi figli, e non si vuol consolare di loro, perchè non sono più». | 15 Thus says the LORD: "A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are not." |
| 16 Così dice il Signore: «Cessi la tua voce dal pianto e gli occhi tuoi dal lacrimare, perchè sarai compensata delle tue pene, dice il Signore, e torneranno dalla terra nemica. | 16 Thus says the LORD: "Keep your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. |
| 17 E c'è ancora speranza per il tuo avvenire, dice il Signore, e i tuoi figli ritorneranno alle loro frontiere. | 17 There is hope for your future, says the LORD, and your children shall come back to their own country. |
| 18 Ho ben udito Efraim fuoruscito dire: - Tu mi hai dato il castigo e mi ha servito di ammaestramento, come un indocile torello; convertimi e mi convertirò, perchè tu sei il Signore mio Dio. | 18 I have heard Ephraim bemoaning, 'Thou hast chastened me, and I was chastened, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for thou art the LORD my God. |
| 19 Perchè dopo che mi hai richiamato a conversione ho fatto penitenza, mi hai fatto ravvedere e mi sono percosso il fianco. Sono tutto confuso e vergognoso perchè porto ora il vitupero della mia gioventù. - | 19 For after I had turned away I repented; and after I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh; I was ashamed, and I was confounded, because I bore the disgrace of my youth.' |
| 20 Oh, se è un figlio ch'io stimo sempre Efraim! Oh, se è un figlio a me caro! Perchè, dopo che ho parlato tanto di lui, lo ricorderò bene ancora. Per questo mi sono sentito commuovere le viscere per lui; io avrò pietà sicuramente di lui, dice il Signore. | 20 Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he my darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do remember him still. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the LORD. |
| 21 Erigiti dei cippi, metti per te delle colonne miliari, datti a studiare la via, il sentiero in cui hai camminato; torna, o vergine d'Israele, torna a queste tue città! | 21 "Set up waymarks for yourself, make yourself guideposts; consider well the highway, the road by which you went. Return, O virgin Israel, return to these your cities. |
| 22 E fino a quando farai la spensierata nelle delizie, figlia girovaga? Perchè il Signore ha creato una cosa nuova sulla terra: "La femmina cingerà l'uomo"». | 22 How long will you waver, O faithless daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing on the earth: a woman protects a man." |
| 23 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: «Quando li avrò fatti rimpatriare dalla loro schiavitù, diranno ancora nella terra di Giuda e nelle sue città questa parola: - Il Signore ti benedica, splendore di giustizia, monte santo.- | 23 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Once more they shall use these words in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I restore their fortunes: 'The LORD bless you, O habitation of righteousness, O holy hill!' |
| 24 E vi si ristabilirà Giuda e tutte le sue città insieme, i campagnuoli e i vergari dei greggi. | 24 And Judah and all its cities shall dwell there together, and the farmers and those who wander with their flocks. |
| 25 Perchè ho inebriato l'anima sitibonda, e ogni anima famelica ho satollata. | 25 For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish." |
| 26 Per questo, quasi da un sonno mi sono riscosso e vidi, e il mio sonno è stato dolce a me. | 26 Thereupon I awoke and looked, and my sleep was pleasant to me. |
| 27 Ecco che verranno giorni, dice il Signore, ed io riseminerò la casa d'Israele e la casa di Giuda, dandoli seme di uomini e di bestiami. | 27 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast. |
| 28 E come ho vegliato su di loro per estirpare e demolire e dissipare e disperdere e affliggere, così vigilerò su di loro per riedificare e ripiantare, dice il Signore. | 28 And it shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring evil, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the LORD. |
| 29 In quei giorni non diranno più: - I padri hanno mangiato l'uva acerba e si sono allegati i denti ai figliuoli - | 29 In those days they shall no longer say: 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.' |
| 30 ma ciascuno morrà nella propria iniquità, chiunque avrà mangiato l'uva acerba gli si allegheranno i denti. | 30 But every one shall die for his own sin; each man who eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge. |
| 31 Ecco che verranno giorni, dice il Signore, e io stringerò colla casa di Israele e colla casa di Giuda, una nuova alleanza: | 31 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, |
| 32 non un'alleanza alla maniera di quella che aveva stretta coi loro padri, nel giorno che li presi per mano per condurli fuori dalla terra di Egitto, alleanza che essi violarono ed io dovetti far loro sentire la mia padronanza, dice il Signore. | 32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke, though I was their husband, says the LORD. |
| 33 Ma questa sarà l'alleanza che avrò stretta colla casa d'Israele dopo quei giorni, dice il Signore: - Io metterò la mia legge nel loro interno e la scriverò nel loro cuore, e sarò il loro Dio, ed essi saranno il mio popolo. | 33 But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. |
| 34 Non staranno più ad ammaestrarsi, l'uno il proprio compagno, l'altro il proprio fratello, dicendo: "Impara a conoscere il Signore"; perchè tutti mi conosceranno, dal più piccolo al più grande, dice il Signore; perchè farò grazia alla loro iniquità e del loro peccato non me ne ricorderò più.- | 34 And no longer shall each man teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." |
| 35 Questo lo dice il Signore, che ha posto il sole lassù per rischiarare il giorno e l'ordinamento della luna e delle stelle per rischiarare la notte, che sconvolge il mare e mugghiano i suoi flutti, il suo nome è Signore degli eserciti. | 35 Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar--the LORD of hosts is his name: |
| 36 Se queste leggi cesseranno dinanzi a me, dice il Signore, anche il seme d'Israele cesserà dall'essere nazione dinanzi a me in ogni tempo. | 36 "If this fixed order departs from before me, says the LORD, then shall the descendants of Israel cease from being a nation before me for ever." |
| 37 Così dice il Signore: - Se si potrà misurare il cielo in alto e scandagliare i fondamenti della terra in basso, allora io rigetterò tutta la schiatta d'Israele per tutto quello che hanno fatto - dice il Signore. | 37 Thus says the LORD: "If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be explored, then I will cast off all the descendants of Israel for all that they have done, says the LORD." |
| 38 Ecco che vengono giorni, dice il Signore, e sarà edificata la città al Signore dalla torre di Ananeel fino alla torre dell'angolo. | 38 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when the city shall be rebuilt for the LORD from the tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. |
| 39 E il regolo per misurare uscirà ancora rimpetto ad essa sul colle Gareb; e girerà intorno a Goata, | 39 And the measuring line shall go out farther, straight to the hill Gareb, and shall then turn to Goah. |
| 40 e a tutta la valle dei cadaveri e delle ceneri e a tutto il campo della morte fino al torrente Cedron e fino all'angolo della Porta dei cavalli ad oriente in un recinto sacro del Signore, non sarà scalzato, nè demolito mai più in perpetuo». | 40 The whole valley of the dead bodies and the ashes, and all the fields as far as the brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be sacred to the LORD. It shall not be uprooted or overthrown any more for ever." |
