Geremia 16

1 - E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:	1 This message came to me from the LORD:
2 «Non prender moglie, per non aver figli e figlie in questo luogo».	2 Do not marry any woman; you shall not have sons or daughters in this place,
3 Perchè questo dice il Signore, contro i figli e le figlie che nascono in questo luogo e contro le madri loro che li hanno dati alla luce e contro i loro padri dai quali sono stati procreati su questo suolo:	3 for thus says the LORD concerning the sons and daughters who will be born in this place, the mothers who will give them birth, the fathers who will beget them in this land:
4 «Moriranno di vari morbi, illacrimati e insepolti resteranno per ingrasso sopra la superficie del suolo, e saranno decimati dalla spada e dalla fame e i loro cadaveri saranno in pasto agli uccelli del cielo e alle bestie della terra».	4 Of deadly disease they shall die. Unlamented and unburied they will lie like dung on the ground. Sword and famine will make an end of them, and their corpses will become food for the birds of the sky and the beasts of the field.
5 Perchè il Signore dice questo: «Tu non entrare alle funebri mense nelle case, non recarti a fare il compianto, nè a condolerti con loro, perchè io ho ritirato la mia pace da questo popolo, dice il Signore, e la misericordia e la compassione.	5 Go not into a house of mourning, the LORD continued: go not there to lament or offer sympathy. For I have withdrawn my friendship from this people, says the LORD, my kindness and my pity.
6 E morranno i grandi e i piccoli in questa terra, non saranno seppelliti, nè pianti, e non si scarnificheranno, nè si scalveranno per essi.	6 They shall die, the great and the lowly, in this land, and shall go unburied and unlamented. No one will gash himself or shave his head for them.
7 Tra loro non spezzeranno più il pane per dar consolazione all'afflitto in morte di uno, nè gli offriranno la coppa esilarante a confortarlo pel padre suo e per la madre.	7 They will not break bread with the bereaved to console them in their bereavement; they will not give them the cup of consolation to drink over the death of father or mother.
8 Non entrare in case di conviti per esser commensale con essi e per mangiare e bere,	8 Enter not a house where people are celebrating, to sit with them eating and drinking.
9 perchè il Signore degli eserciti il Dio d'Israele dice così: - Ecco che io sotto ai vostri occhi e nei vostri giorni farò sparire da questo luogo la voce della gioia e la voce dell'allegria, la voce dello sposo e la voce della sposa.-	9 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Before your very eyes and during your lifetime I will silence from this place the cry of joy and the cry of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.
10 E quando avrai annunziato a cotesto popolo tutte queste parole e ti avranno detto: - Ma perchè il Signore ha pronunziato contro di noi tutti questi mali così grandi? quale è la nostra colpa? quale è il peccato che abbiam commesso contro il Signore Dio nostro? -	10 When you proclaim all these words to this people and they ask you: "Why has the LORD pronounced all these great evils against us? What is our crime? What sin have we committed against the LORD, our God?"--
11 Dirai loro: - Perchè i padri vostri hanno abbandonato me, dice il Signore, e se ne andarono dietro agli dèi stranieri e li servirono e li adorarono e me abbandonarono e non conservarono la mia legge.	11 you shall answer them: It is because your fathers have forsaken me, says the LORD, and followed strange gods, which they served and worshiped; but me they have forsaken, and my law they have not observed.
12 Ma voi ancora avete fatto peggio dei vostri padri: eccovi, ciascuno va a seconda della depravazione del suo cuore malvagio per non dare ascolto a me!	12 And you have done worse than your fathers. Here you are, every one of you, walking in the hardness of his evil heart instead of listening to me.
13 E io vi caccerò da questa terra in un'altra terra che non avete conosciuta, nè voi nè i vostri padri, e là presterete servigio a dèi stranieri, giorno e notte, i quali non vi daranno riposo.-	13 I will cast you out of this land into a land that neither you nor your fathers have known; there you can serve strange gods day and night, because I will not grant you my mercy.
14 Per questo ecco che verrà giorno, dice il Signore, in cui non si dirà più: - Vive il Signore che condusse via i figli d'Israele dalla terra d'Egitto! -	14 However, days will surely come, says the LORD, when it will no longer be said, "As the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites out of Egypt";
15 ma: - Vive il Signore che condusse via i figli di Israele dalla terra del settentrione e da tutte le regioni nelle quali li avrò scacciati! - E io li ricondurrò sulla propria terra che aveva dato ai padri loro.	15 but rather, "As the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites out of the land of the north and out of all the countries to which he had banished them." I will bring them back to the land which I gave their fathers.
16 Ecco che io manderò molti pescatori, dice il Signore, e li pescheranno e di poi manderò molti cacciatori e andranno in caccia di essi per tutti i monti e per tutti i colli e nelle caverne delle rocce.	16 Look! I will send many fishermen, says the LORD, to catch them. After that, I will send many hunters to hunt them out from every mountain and hill and from the clefts of the rocks.
17 Perchè gli occhi miei vegliano su tutti i loro procedimenti, non sono nascosti alla mia vista, e non è rimasta occulta agli occhi miei la loro iniquità.	17 For my eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor does their guilt escape my view.
18 Quindi li ripagherò primieramente delle loro raddoppiate iniquità e dei loro peccati, perchè hanno contaminata la mia terra coi cadaveri dei loro idoli e hanno ripiena delle loro abominazioni la mia eredità».	18 I will at once repay them double for their crime and their sin of profaning my land with their detestable corpses of idols, and filling my heritage with their abominations.
19 Signore, mia forza e mia fortezza e mio rifugio, nel giorno della tribolazione! A te verranno dall'estremità della terra le genti e diranno: «I nostri padri ebbero veramente in retaggio la menzogna, vanità che non giovò a loro nulla».	19 O LORD, my strength, my fortress, my refuge in the day of distress! To you will the nations come from the ends of the earth, and say, "Mere frauds are the heritage of our fathers, empty idols of no use."
20 L'uomo si fabbricherà forse gli dèi, i quali non siano che dei?	20 Can man make for himself gods? These are not gods.
21 Per questo, ecco che mostrerò loro io una buona volta, mostrerò loro la mia mano e la mia potenza, e conosceranno che il mio nome è "il Signore".	21 Look, then: I will give them knowledge; this time I will leave them in no doubt Of my strength and my power: they shall know that my name is LORD.
