1 primo uomo plasmato da Dio padre del mondo, creato da solo, ella lo custodi;	1 This is he, who was formed first by God, the father of the world, who was alone when created; she preserved him,
2 e lo trasse fuori dal proprio peccato, e gli diè potere di dominare ogni cosa.	2 and led him out of his offense, and gave him the power to maintain all things.
3 Ma allontanatosi da lei l'ingiusto nell'ira sua, per il furor fratricida peri.	3 After this, when the unjust man withdrew from her in his anger, he perished through anger by the murder of his brother.
4 Sommersa poi a cagion di lui la terra, la salvò di nuovo la sapienza, sur un vile legno guidando il giusto.	4 Because of this, when water destroyed the earth, wisdom healed it again, guiding the just by means of contemptible wood.
5 Ella, quando nella concordia dell'iniquità si fuser le genti, scopri il giusto e lo custodi irreprensibile dinanzi a Dio, e contro la tenerezza per il figliuolo lo conservò forte.	5 Moreover, when the nations had conspired together to consent to wickedness, she knew the just, and preserved him without blame before God, and preserved his strength out of mercy for his sons.
6 Ella, tra il perir degli empi, liberò il giusto sfuggito al fuoco cadente sulla Pentapoli;	6 She freed this just man from the destruction of the impious, fleeing descending fire in the Five Cities,
7 e a testimonianza della loro malvagità resta una terra deserta, fumigante, e piante che portan frutti fuor di stagione e — monumento d'un'anlma incredula — una colonna ritta di sale.	7 which, as a testimony to their wickedness, is a constantly smoking desolate land, and the trees bear fruit at uncertain times, and a figure of salt stands as a monument to an unbelieving soul.
8 Mettendo da parte. Infatti, la sapienza, non solo fecero danno a sè col non conoscere il bene; ma della loro stoltezza lasciarono anche un ricordo ai viventi, affinchè i loro falli non potessero restar nascosti.	8 For, in disregarding wisdom, they are fallen, not so much in this, that they were ignorant of good, but that they bequeathed to men a memorial of their foolishness, so that, in the things in which they sinned, they were unable to escape notice.
9 Ma la sapienza, i suoi servi fedeli li salvò dai travagli.	9 Yet wisdom has freed from sorrow those who are self-observant.
10 Ella il giusto che fuggiva l'ira fraterna guidò per vie rette; e gli mostrò il regno di Dio e gli dette la scienza delle cose sante; lo fé, prosperare nelle sue fatiche e colmò [d'abbondante frutto] i suoi lavori;	10 She led the just man, this fugitive of his brother’s wrath, by the right ways, and revealed to him the kingdom of God, and gave him the knowledge of holiness, honored him in his labors, and completed his labors.
11 l'assistette contro le frodi [e l'ingordigia] de, suoi oppressori, e l’arricchì;	11 In the midst of encircling deceit, she flowed around him and made him honest.
12 lo custodì da' nemici e dagli insidiatori lo mise al sicuro; gli procacciò la vittoria in una vigorosa lotta, perchè imparasse che più forte d'ogni cosa è la sapienza,	12 She guarded him from his enemies, and she defended him from seducers, and she gave him a strong conflict so that he might overcome and might know that the power of all things is wisdom.
13 Ella non abbandonò il giusto venduto, ma lo salvò dal peccatori; scese con lui nella fossa,	13 She did not abandon the just man when he was sold, but freed him from sinners; she went down with him into the pit,
14 e nelle catene non l'abbandonò; finché apportò a lui lo scettro del regno e potestà sul suoi oppressori; e bugiardi dimostrò coloro che l’avevano infamato, e gli procacciò gloria eterna.	14 and she did not abandon him in chains, while she brought him the scepter of the kingdom and power against those who oppressed him, and revealed them to be liars who had dishonored him, and gave him everlasting glory.
15 Ella il popolo santo e l'irreprensibile stirpe liberò dalle nazioni che la tribolavano.	15 She freed this just people and the blameless offspring, from the nations that had oppressed them.
16 Entrò nell'anima del servo del Signore, e fronteggiò re terribili con portenti e prodigi.	16 She entered the soul of the servant of God and stood against dreadful kings in the midst of portents and signs,
17 Rese ai giusti la mercede delle loro fatiche, li condusse per via meravigliosa, e fu per essi quasi ombra di giorno e luce stellare di notte.	17 and she rendered to the just the wages of their labors, and led them along a wondrous way; and she was to them, like a cover by day, and like the light of the stars by night.
18 Li trasportò attraverso il mar Rosso, e li tragittò per mezzo all'acqua molta. Sommerse poi nel mare i loro nemici, e dal profondo dell'abisso li rigettò fuori; onde i giusti rapiron le spoglie degli empi,	18 She carried them through the Red Sea, and led them across a great water.
19 e celebrarono, o Signore, il tuo santo nome, e la propugnatrice tua mano lodarono ad una voce.	19 But their enemies, she submerged in the sea, and from the furthest depths, she drew them up. Therefore, the just carried off the spoils of the impious.
20 Perchè la sapienza aprì la bocca de, mutoli, e le lingue de' bambini rese eloquenti.	20 And they chanted to your holy name, Lord, and they together praised your victorious hand,
	21 because wisdom opened the mouth of the mute, and made the speech of infants eloquent.
