BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Cantico de' gradini. Se non [fosse stato] che il Signore era con noi, -dica ora Israele, -	1 [Song of Ascents] I lift up my eyes to you who are enthroned in heaven.
2 se non [fosse stato] che il Signore era con noi, quando gli uomini ci si levaron contro,	2 Just as the eyes of slaves are on their masters' hand, or the eyes of a slave-girl on the hand of hermistress, so our eyes are on Yahweh our God, for him to take pity on us.
3 forse ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi, nell'infuriar del loro furore contro di noi!	3 Have pity on us, Yahweh, have pity, for we have had our full share of scorn,
4 Forse l'acqua ci avrebbe ingoiati:	4 more than our share of jeers from the complacent. (Scorn is for the proud.)
5 un torrente ebbe a guadar l'anima nostra; forse avrebbe dovuto l'anima nostra traversareun'acqua insuperabile!
6 Benedetto il Signore, che non ci dettein preda alle loro zanne.
7 L'anima nostra, qual passero, fu salvadal laccio de' cacciatori. Il laccio fu spezzato, e noi fummo liberi!
8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore, che ha fatto il cielo e la terra!
