1 - Salomone cominciò quindi a costruire la casa del Signore in Gerusalemme, sul monte Moria, mostrato già a Davide suo padre, nel luogo preparato dallo stesso Davide nell'aia di Ornan il Jebuseo.	1 Solomon then began building the house of Yahweh in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah where David hisfather had had a vision -- on the site which David had prepared -- on the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
2 Cominciò la costruzione nel secondo mese del quarto anno del suo regno.	2 He began building it on the second day of the second month of the fourth year of his reign.
3 Ora queste sono le fondamenta, gettate da Salomone per costruire la casa del Signore: la lunghezza era di sessanta cubiti, dell'antica misura, e la larghezza, di venti cubiti.	3 These are the dimensions which Solomon fixed for the structure of the house of God: its length incubits, according to the old standard, was sixty cubits and its width twenty cubits;
4 Il portico poi sul davanti, che si estendeva in lunghezza pari alla larghezza della casa, era di venti cubiti: mentre l'altezza era di centoventi cubiti. La fece poi indorare internamente con oro purissimo.	4 and the portico in front of the house was the ful width of the house, that is, twenty cubits, and its heightwas a hundred and twenty cubits; on the inside he overlaid it with pure gold.
5 Rivestì la casa maggiore di tavole di legno di abete e vi applicò dovunque lamine di oro puro e scolpì in essa delle palme e delle catenelle intrecciantesi le une alle altre.	5 The Great Hall he lined with juniper, which he overlaid with fine gold and ornamented with palm treesand festoons,
6 Il pavimento del tempio fu poi lastricato di marmo preziosissimo di grande bellezza;	6 and he decorated the hall beautifully with precious stones and with gold from Parvaim,
7 e finissimo era l'oro ridotto in lamina, col quale coprì la casa e le sue travature, le imposte, le pareti e le porte; inoltre sulle pareti fece intagliare dei cherubini.	7 overlaying the hal , its beams and its thresholds, its walls and its doors, with gold and engraving thewal s with great winged creatures.
8 Fece poi anche la casa del Santo dei Santi, la cui lunghezza era uguale alla larghezza della casa, cioè di venti cubiti; la larghezza era parimenti di venti cubiti; e la coprì di lamine d'oro, che pesavano quasi seicento talenti.	8 He also made the Holy of Holies, the length of which corresponded to the width of the Great Hal , beingtwenty cubits, with a width of twenty cubits, and this he overlaid with fine gold weighing six hundred talents,
9 Fece d'oro anche i chiodi, cosicchè ciascun chiodo costava cinquanta sicli. Rivestì pure d'oro le stanze superiori.	9 while the weight of the gold nails was fifty shekels. He also overlaid the upper rooms with gold.
10 Fece parimenti nella casa del Santo dei Santi due statue, rappresentanti i cherubini, e le coprì d'oro.	10 In the Holy of Holies he model ed two winged creatures of wrought metal work and overlaid them withgold.
11 Le ali dei cherubini si estendevano per venti cubiti, in modo che un'ala, lunga cinque cubiti, toccava la parete della casa e l'altra ala, pure di cinque cubiti, toccava l'ala dell'altro cherubino.	11 The total span of their wings was twenty cubits; one wing, being five cubits long, touched the wal ofthe house and the other wing, being five cubits long, touched the wing of the other winged creature;
12 Parimenti l'ala dell'altro cherubino di cinque cubiti toccava l'altra parete e la seconda ala pure di cinque cubiti toccava l'ala dell'altro cherubino.	12 while one wing of the other, five cubits long, touched the other wall of the house and the other wing,five cubits long, touched the wing of the other winged creature.
13 Le ali quindi di ambedue i cherubini erano estese e raggiungevano i venti cubiti; ed essi se ne stavano ritti in piedi e le loro facce erano volte verso l'esterno della casa.	13 The spread of these creatures' wings was twenty cubits. They stood in an upright position, with theirfaces towards the Hall.
14 Fece anche un velo di giacinto, di porpora, di scarlatto e di bisso e vi fece intessere dei cherubini.	14 He also made the Curtain of violet, scarlet, crimson and fine linen, working a design of wingedcreatures on it.
15 Anche dinanzi alle porte del tempio eranvi due colonne, che misuravano trentacinque cubiti di altezza e i cui capitelli misuravano cinque cubiti.	15 In front of the Hal he made two pil ars thirty-five cubits high, and on the top of each a capitalmeasuring five cubits.
16 Fece anche delle catenelle come quelle del Santuario e le sovrappose ai capitelli delle colonne, insieme a cento melagrane, interposte fra le catenelle;	16 He made festoons, in the Debir, to go at the tops of the pil ars, and made a hundred pomegranates togo on the festoons.
17 e collocò queste colonne nel vestibolo del tempio, una a destra e l'altra a sinistra, chiamando Jachin quella di destra, e Booz quella di sinistra.	17 He erected the pil ars in front of the Temple, one on the right, the other on the left; the one on the righthe cal ed Jachin and the one on the left, Boaz.
