1 Perciò, fratelli santi, voi che siete partecipi di una vocazione celeste, prestate attenzione a Gesù, l’apostolo e sommo sacerdote della fede che noi professiamo,	1 Therefore, holy brothers, sharers in the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession: Jesus.
2 il quale è degno di fede per colui che l’ha costituito tale, come lo fu anche Mosè in tutta la sua casa.	2 He is faithful to the One who made him, just as Moses also was, with his entire house.
3 Ma, in confronto a Mosè, egli è stato giudicato degno di una gloria tanto maggiore quanto l’onore del costruttore della casa supera quello della casa stessa.	3 For this Jesus was considered worthy of greater glory than Moses, so much so that the house which he has built holds a greater honor than the former one.
4 Ogni casa infatti viene costruita da qualcuno; ma colui che ha costruito tutto è Dio.	4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the One who has created all things.
5 In verità Mosè fu degno di fede in tutta la sua casa come servitore, per dare testimonianza di ciò che doveva essere annunciato più tardi.	5 And certainly Moses was faithful, with his entire house, like any servant, as a testimony to those things that would soon be said.
6 Cristo, invece, lo fu come figlio, posto sopra la sua casa. E la sua casa siamo noi, se conserviamo la libertà e la speranza di cui ci vantiamo.	6 Yet truly, Christ is like a Son in his own house. We are that house, if we firmly retain the faithfulness and the glory of hope, even unto the end.
7 Per questo, come dice lo Spirito Santo: Oggi, se udite la sua voce,	7 Because of this, it is just as the Holy Spirit says: “If today you hear his voice,
8 non indurite i vostri cuori come nel giorno della ribellione, il giorno della tentazione nel deserto,	8 harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, the very day of temptation, in the desert,
9 dove mi tentarono i vostri padri mettendomi alla prova, pur avendo visto per quarant’anni le mie opere.	9 where your fathers tested me, even though they had seen and examined my works for forty years.
10 Perciò mi disgustai di quella generazione e dissi: hanno sempre il cuore sviato. Non hanno conosciuto le mie vie.	10 For this reason, I was enraged against this generation, and I said: They always wander astray in heart. For they have not known my ways.
11 Così ho giurato nella mia ira: non entreranno nel mio riposo.	11 So it is as I swore in my wrath: They shall not enter into my rest!”
12 Badate, fratelli, che non si trovi in nessuno di voi un cuore perverso e senza fede che si allontani dal Dio vivente.	12 Be cautious, brothers, lest perhaps there may be, in any of you, an evil heart of unbelief, turning aside from the living God.
13 Esortatevi piuttosto a vicenda ogni giorno, finché dura questo oggi, perché nessuno di voi si ostini, sedotto dal peccato.	13 Instead, exhort one another every day, while it is still called ‘today,’ so that none of you may become hardened through the falseness of sin.
14 Siamo infatti diventati partecipi di Cristo, a condizione di mantenere salda fino alla fine la fiducia che abbiamo avuto fin dall’inizio.	14 For we have been made participants in Christ. This is only so, if we firmly retain the beginning of his substance, even unto the end.
15 Quando si dice: Oggi, se udite la sua voce, non indurite i vostri cuori come nel giorno della ribellione,	15 For it has been said: “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts, in the same manner as in the former provocation.”
16 chi furono quelli che, dopo aver udito la sua voce, si ribellarono? Non furono tutti quelli che erano usciti dall’Egitto sotto la guida di Mosè?	16 For some of those listening did provoke him. But not all of these had set forth from Egypt through Moses.
17 E chi furono coloro di cui si è disgustato per quarant’anni? Non furono quelli che avevano peccato e poi caddero cadaveri nel deserto?	17 So against whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not those who had sinned, whose dead bodies lay prostrate in the desert?
18 E a chi giurò che non sarebbero entrati nel suo riposo, se non a quelli che non avevano creduto?	18 But to whom did he swear that they would not enter into his rest, except to those who were incredulous?
19 E noi vediamo che non poterono entrarvi a causa della loro mancanza di fede.	19 And so, we perceive that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
