Lettera agli Ebrei 3

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Perciò, fratelli santi, voi che siete partecipi di una vocazione celeste, prestate attenzione a Gesù, l’apostolo e sommo sacerdote della fede che noi professiamo,	1 That is why al you who are holy brothers and share the same heavenly cal should turn your minds toJesus, the apostle and the high priest of our profession of faith.
2 il quale è degno di fede per colui che l’ha costituito tale, come lo fu anche Mosè in tutta la sua casa.	2 He was trustworthy to the one who appointed him, just like Moses, who remained trustworthy in all hishousehold;
3 Ma, in confronto a Mosè, egli è stato giudicato degno di una gloria tanto maggiore quanto l’onore del costruttore della casa supera quello della casa stessa.	3 but he deserves a greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house is more honoured than thehouse itself.
4 Ogni casa infatti viene costruita da qualcuno; ma colui che ha costruito tutto è Dio.	4 Every house is built by someone, of course; but God built everything that exists.
5 In verità Mosè fu degno di fede in tutta la sua casa come servitore, per dare testimonianza di ciò che doveva essere annunciato più tardi.	5 It is true that Moses was trustworthy in the household of God, as a servant is, acting as witness to thethings which were yet to be revealed,
6 Cristo, invece, lo fu come figlio, posto sopra la sua casa. E la sua casa siamo noi, se conserviamo la libertà e la speranza di cui ci vantiamo.	6 but Christ is trustworthy as a son is, over his household. And we are his household, as long as wefearlessly maintain the hope in which we glory.
7 Per questo, come dice lo Spirito Santo: Oggi, se udite la sua voce,	7 That is why, as the Holy Spirit says: If only you would listen to him today!
8 non indurite i vostri cuori come nel giorno della ribellione, il giorno della tentazione nel deserto,	8 Do not harden your hearts, as at the rebel ion, as at the time of testing in the desert,
9 dove mi tentarono i vostri padri mettendomi alla prova, pur avendo visto per quarant’anni le mie opere.	9 when your ancestors chal enged me, and put me to the test, and saw what I could do
10 Perciò mi disgustai di quella generazione e dissi: hanno sempre il cuore sviato. Non hanno conosciuto le mie vie.	10 for forty years. That was why that generation sickened me and I said, 'Always fickle hearts, thatcannot grasp my ways!'
11 Così ho giurato nella mia ira: non entreranno nel mio riposo.	11 And then in my anger I swore that they would never enter my place of rest.
12 Badate, fratelli, che non si trovi in nessuno di voi un cuore perverso e senza fede che si allontani dal Dio vivente.	12 Take care, brothers, that none of you ever has a wicked heart, so unbelieving as to turn away from theliving God.
13 Esortatevi piuttosto a vicenda ogni giorno, finché dura questo oggi, perché nessuno di voi si ostini, sedotto dal peccato.	13 Every day, as long as this today lasts, keep encouraging one another so that none of you is hardenedby the lure of sin,
14 Siamo infatti diventati partecipi di Cristo, a condizione di mantenere salda fino alla fine la fiducia che abbiamo avuto fin dall’inizio.	14 because we have been granted a share with Christ only if we keep the grasp of our first confidencefirm to the end.
15 Quando si dice: Oggi, se udite la sua voce, non indurite i vostri cuori come nel giorno della ribellione,	15 In this saying: If only you would listen to him today; do not harden your hearts, as at the Rebel ion,
16 chi furono quelli che, dopo aver udito la sua voce, si ribellarono? Non furono tutti quelli che erano usciti dall’Egitto sotto la guida di Mosè?	16 who was it who listened and then rebelled? Surely al those whom Moses led out of Egypt.
17 E chi furono coloro di cui si è disgustato per quarant’anni? Non furono quelli che avevano peccato e poi caddero cadaveri nel deserto?	17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Surely with those who sinned and whose dead bodiesfel in the desert.
18 E a chi giurò che non sarebbero entrati nel suo riposo, se non a quelli che non avevano creduto?	18 To whom did he swear they would never enter his place of rest? Surely those who would not believe.
19 E noi vediamo che non poterono entrarvi a causa della loro mancanza di fede.	19 So we see that it was their refusal to believe which prevented them from entering.
