Deuteronomio 14

1 Voi siete figli per il Signore, vostro Dio: non vi farete incisioni e non vi raderete tra gli occhi per un morto.	1 'You are children of Yahweh your God. You must not gash yourselves or shave your foreheads for thedead.
2 Tu sei infatti un popolo consacrato al Signore, tuo Dio, e il Signore ti ha scelto per essere il suo popolo particolare fra tutti i popoli che sono sulla terra.	2 For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God, and Yahweh has chosen you to be his ownpeople from al the peoples on the earth.
3 Non mangerai alcuna cosa abominevole.	3 'You must not eat anything disgusting.
4 Questi sono gli animali che potrete mangiare: il bue, la pecora e la capra;	4 These are the animals you may eat: ox, sheep, goat,
5 il cervo, la gazzella, il capriolo, lo stambecco, l'antilope, il bufalo e il camoscio.	5 deer, gazel e, roebuck, ibex, antelope, oryx, mountain sheep.
6 Potrete mangiare di ogni quadrupede che ha l’unghia bipartita, divisa in due da una fessura, e che rumina.	6 You may eat any animal that has a divided and cloven hoof and that is a ruminant.
7 Ma non mangerete quelli che ruminano soltanto o che hanno soltanto l’unghia bipartita, divisa da una fessura: il cammello, la lepre, l’iràce, che ruminano ma non hanno l’unghia bipartita. Considerateli impuri.	7 Of those, however, that are ruminants and of those that have a divided and cloven hoof you may noteat the fol owing: the camel, the hare and the coney, which are ruminants but have no cloven hoof; you mustclass them as unclean.
8 Anche il porco, che ha l’unghia bipartita ma non rumina, per voi è impuro. Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete i loro cadaveri.	8 So also the pig, which though it has a cloven hoof is not a ruminant; you must class it as unclean. Youmust neither eat the meat of such animals nor touch their dead bodies.
9 Fra tutti gli animali che vivono nelle acque potrete mangiare quelli che hanno pinne e squame;	9 'Of whatever lives in water you may eat the fol owing: you may eat anything that has fins and scales.
10 ma non mangerete nessuno di quelli che non hanno pinne e squame. Considerateli impuri.	10 But you must not eat anything without fins and scales: you must class it as unclean.
11 Potrete mangiare qualunque uccello puro,	11 'You may eat al clean birds,
12 ma delle seguenti specie non dovete mangiare: l’aquila, l’avvoltoio e l’aquila di mare,	12 but the fol owing birds you must not eat: the tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,
13 il nibbio e ogni specie di falco,	13 the kite and the several kinds of buzzard,
14 ogni specie di corvo,	14 al kinds of raven,
15 lo struzzo, la civetta, il gabbiano e ogni specie di sparviero,	15 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the several kinds of hawk,
16 il gufo, l’ibis, il cigno,	16 owl, barn owl, ibis,
17 il pellicano, la fòlaga, l’alcione,	17 pelican, white vulture, cormorant,
18 la cicogna, ogni specie di airone, l’ùpupa e il pipistrello.	18 stork, the several kinds of heron, hoopoe and bat.
19 Considererete come impuro ogni insetto alato. Non ne mangiate.	19 You are to class al winged insects as unclean and must not eat them.
20 Potrete mangiare ogni uccello puro.	20 You may eat any clean fowl.
21 Non mangerete alcuna bestia che sia morta di morte naturale; la darai al forestiero che risiede nelle tue città, perché la mangi, o la venderai a qualche straniero, perché tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore, tuo Dio. Non farai cuocere un capretto nel latte di sua madre.	21 'You must not eat any animal that has died a natural death. You may give it to a resident foreigner toeat, or sel it to a foreigner. For you are a people consecrated to Yahweh your God. 'You must not boil a kid in itsmother's milk.
22 Dovrai prelevare la decima da tutto il frutto della tua semente, che il campo produce ogni anno.	22 'Every year, you must take a tithe of what your fields produce from what you have sown
23 Mangerai davanti al Signore, tuo Dio, nel luogo dove avrà scelto di stabilire il suo nome, la decima del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio e i primi parti del tuo bestiame grosso e minuto, perché tu impari a temere sempre il Signore, tuo Dio.	23 and, in the presence of Yahweh your God, in the place where he chooses to give his name a home,you must eat the tithe of your wheat, of your new wine and of your oil, and the first-born of your herd and flock;and by so doing, you wil learn always to fear Yahweh your God.
24 Ma se il cammino è troppo lungo per te e tu non puoi trasportare quelle decime, perché è troppo lontano da te il luogo dove il Signore, tuo Dio, avrà scelto di stabilire il suo nome – perché il Signore, tuo Dio, ti avrà benedetto –,	24 'If the road is too long for you, if you cannot bring your tithe because the place in which Yahwehchooses to make a home for his name is too far away, when Yahweh your God has blessed you,
25 allora le convertirai in denaro e, tenendolo in mano, andrai al luogo che il Signore, tuo Dio, avrà scelto	25 you must convert it into money and, with the money clasped in your hand, you must go to the placechosen by Yahweh your God;
26 e lo impiegherai per comprarti quanto tu desideri: bestiame grosso o minuto, vino, bevande inebrianti o qualunque cosa di tuo gusto e mangerai davanti al Signore, tuo Dio, e gioirai tu e la tua famiglia.	26 there you may spend the money on whatever you like, oxen, sheep, wine, fermented liquor, anythingyou please. There you must eat in the presence of Yahweh your God and rejoice, you and your household.
27 Il levita che abita le tue città, non lo abbandonerai, perché non ha parte né eredità con te.	27 Do not neglect the Levite living in your community, since he has no share or heritage of his ownamong you.
28 Alla fine di ogni triennio metterai da parte tutte le decime del tuo provento in quell'anno e le deporrai entro le tue porte.	28 'At the end of every three years, you must take al the tithes of your harvests for that year and col ectthem in your community.
29 Il levita, che non ha parte né eredità con te, il forestiero, l’orfano e la vedova che abiteranno le tue città, mangeranno e si sazieranno, perché il Signore, tuo Dio, ti benedica in ogni lavoro a cui avrai messo mano.	29 Then the Levite -- since he has no share or heritage of his own among you -- the foreigner, theorphan and the widow living in your community, wil come and eat all they want. And so Yahweh your God wilbless you in al the labours that you undertake.'
