BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Diceva loro una parabola sulla necessità di pregare sempre, senza stancarsi mai:	1 Then he told them a parable about the need to pray continual y and never lose heart.
2 «In una città viveva un giudice, che non temeva Dio né aveva riguardo per alcuno.	2 'There was a judge in a certain town,' he said, 'who had neither fear of God nor respect for anyone.
3 In quella città c’era anche una vedova, che andava da lui e gli diceva: “Fammi giustizia contro il mio avversario”.	3 In the same town there was also a widow who kept on coming to him and saying, "I want justice fromyou against my enemy!"
4 Per un po’ di tempo egli non volle; ma poi disse tra sé: “Anche se non temo Dio e non ho riguardo per alcuno,	4 For a long time he refused, but at last he said to himself, "Even though I have neither fear of God norrespect for any human person,
5 dato che questa vedova mi dà tanto fastidio, le farò giustizia perché non venga continuamente a importunarmi”».	5 I must give this widow her just rights since she keeps pestering me, or she wil come and slap me in the face." '
6 E il Signore soggiunse: «Ascoltate ciò che dice il giudice disonesto.	6 And the Lord said, 'You notice what the unjust judge has to say?
7 E Dio non farà forse giustizia ai suoi eletti, che gridano giorno e notte verso di lui? Li farà forse aspettare a lungo?	7 Now, will not God see justice done to his elect if they keep cal ing to him day and night even though hestill delays to help them?
8 Io vi dico che farà loro giustizia prontamente. Ma il Figlio dell’uomo, quando verrà, troverà la fede sulla terra?».	8 I promise you, he wil see justice done to them, and done speedily. But when the Son of man comes,wil he find any faith on earth?'
9 Disse ancora questa parabola per alcuni che avevano l’intima presunzione di essere giusti e disprezzavano gli altri:	9 He spoke the following parable to some people who prided themselves on being upright and despisedeveryone else,
10 «Due uomini salirono al tempio a pregare: uno era fariseo e l’altro pubblicano.	10 'Two men went up to the Temple to pray, one a Pharisee, the other a tax col ector.
11 Il fariseo, stando in piedi, pregava così tra sé: “O Dio, ti ringrazio perché non sono come gli altri uomini, ladri, ingiusti, adùlteri, e neppure come questo pubblicano.	11 The Pharisee stood there and said this prayer to himself, "I thank you, God, that I am not grasping,unjust, adulterous like everyone else, and particularly that I am not like this tax col ector here.
12 Digiuno due volte alla settimana e pago le decime di tutto quello che possiedo”.	12 I fast twice a week; I pay tithes on al I get."
13 Il pubblicano invece, fermatosi a distanza, non osava nemmeno alzare gli occhi al cielo, ma si batteva il petto dicendo: “O Dio, abbi pietà di me peccatore”.	13 The tax collector stood some distance away, not daring even to raise his eyes to heaven; but he beathis breast and said, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner."
14 Io vi dico: questi, a differenza dell’altro, tornò a casa sua giustificato, perché chiunque si esalta sarà umiliato, chi invece si umilia sarà esaltato».	14 This man, I tell you, went home again justified; the other did not. For everyone who raises himself upwil be humbled, but anyone who humbles himself wil be raised up.'
15 Gli presentavano anche i bambini piccoli perché li toccasse, ma i discepoli, vedendo ciò, li rimproveravano.	15 People even brought babies to him, for him to touch them; but when the disciples saw this theyscolded them.
16 Allora Gesù li chiamò a sé e disse: «Lasciate che i bambini vengano a me e non glielo impedite; a chi è come loro, infatti, appartiene il regno di Dio.	16 But Jesus cal ed the children to him and said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not stopthem; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.
17 In verità io vi dico: chi non accoglie il regno di Dio come l’accoglie un bambino, non entrerà in esso».	17 In truth I tell you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enterit.'
18 Un notabile lo interrogò: «Maestro buono, che cosa devo fare per avere in eredità la vita eterna?».	18 One of the rulers put this question to him, 'Good Master, what shal I do to inherit eternal life?'
19 Gesù gli rispose: «Perché mi chiami buono? Nessuno è buono, se non Dio solo.	19 Jesus said to him, 'Why do you cal me good? No one is good but God alone.
20 Tu conosci i comandamenti: Non commettere adulterio, non uccidere, non rubare, non testimoniare il falso, onora tuo padre e tua madre».	20 You know the commandments: You shal not commit adultery; You shal not kil ; You shall not steal;You shal not give false witness; Honour your father and your mother.'
21 Costui disse: «Tutte queste cose le ho osservate fin dalla giovinezza».	21 He replied, 'I have kept all these since my earliest days.'
22 Udito ciò, Gesù gli disse: «Una cosa ancora ti manca: vendi tutto quello che hai, distribuiscilo ai poveri e avrai un tesoro nei cieli; e vieni! Seguimi!».	22 And when Jesus heard this he said, 'There is stil one thing you lack. Sell everything you own anddistribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.'
23 Ma quello, udite queste parole, divenne assai triste perché era molto ricco.	23 But when he heard this he was overcome with sadness, for he was very rich.
24 Quando Gesù lo vide così triste, disse: «Quanto è difficile, per quelli che possiedono ricchezze, entrare nel regno di Dio.	24 Jesus looked at him and said, 'How hard it is for those who have riches to make their way into thekingdom of God!
25 È più facile infatti per un cammello passare per la cruna di un ago, che per un ricco entrare nel regno di Dio!».	25 Yes, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someone rich to enter thekingdom of God.'
26 Quelli che ascoltavano dissero: «E chi può essere salvato?».	26 Those who were listening said, 'In that case, who can be saved?'
27 Rispose: «Ciò che è impossibile agli uomini, è possibile a Dio».	27 He replied, 'Things that are impossible by human resources, are possible for God.'
28 Pietro allora disse: «Noi abbiamo lasciato i nostri beni e ti abbiamo seguito».	28 But Peter said, 'Look, we left al we had to follow you.'
29 Ed egli rispose: «In verità io vi dico, non c’è nessuno che abbia lasciato casa o moglie o fratelli o genitori o figli per il regno di Dio,	29 He said to them, 'In truth I tel you, there is no one who has left house, wife, brothers, parents orchildren for the sake of the kingdom of God
30 che non riceva molto di più nel tempo presente e la vita eterna nel tempo che verrà».	30 who will not receive many times as much in this present age and, in the world to come, eternal life.'
31 Poi prese con sé i Dodici e disse loro: «Ecco, noi saliamo a Gerusalemme, e si compirà tutto ciò che fu scritto dai profeti riguardo al Figlio dell’uomo:	31 Then taking the Twelve aside he said to them, 'Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everythingthat is written by the prophets about the Son of man is to come true.
32 verrà infatti consegnato ai pagani, verrà deriso e insultato, lo copriranno di sputi	32 For he wil be handed over to the gentiles and wil be mocked, maltreated and spat on,
33 e, dopo averlo flagellato, lo uccideranno e il terzo giorno risorgerà».	33 and when they have scourged him they will put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.'
34 Ma quelli non compresero nulla di tutto questo; quel parlare restava oscuro per loro e non capivano ciò che egli aveva detto.	34 But they could make nothing of this; what he said was quite obscure to them, they did not understandwhat he was tel ing them.
35 Mentre si avvicinava a Gerico, un cieco era seduto lungo la strada a mendicare.	35 Now it happened that as he drew near to Jericho there was a blind man sitting at the side of the roadbegging.
36 Sentendo passare la gente, domandò che cosa accadesse.	36 When he heard the crowd going past he asked what it was all about,
37 Gli annunciarono: «Passa Gesù, il Nazareno!».	37 and they told him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by.
38 Allora gridò dicendo: «Gesù, figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!».	38 So he called out, 'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me.'
39 Quelli che camminavano avanti lo rimproveravano perché tacesse; ma egli gridava ancora più forte: «Figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!».	39 The people in front scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted al the louder, 'Son ofDavid, have pity on me.'
40 Gesù allora si fermò e ordinò che lo conducessero da lui. Quando fu vicino, gli domandò:	40 Jesus stopped and ordered them to bring the man to him, and when he came up, asked him,
41 «Che cosa vuoi che io faccia per te?». Egli rispose: «Signore, che io veda di nuovo!».	41 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Sir,' he replied, 'let me see again.'
42 E Gesù gli disse: «Abbi di nuovo la vista! La tua fede ti ha salvato».	42 Jesus said to him, 'Receive your sight. Your faith has saved you.'
43 Subito ci vide di nuovo e cominciò a seguirlo glorificando Dio. E tutto il popolo, vedendo, diede lode a Dio.	43 And instantly his sight returned and he fol owed him praising God, and al the people who saw it gavepraise to God.
