1 Non giudicate, per non essere giudicati;	1 'Do not judge, and you will not be judged;
2 perché con il giudizio con il quale giudicate sarete giudicati voi e con la misura con la quale misurate sarà misurato a voi.	2 because the judgements you give are the judgements you wil get, and the standard you use wil be thestandard used for you.
3 Perché guardi la pagliuzza che è nell’occhio del tuo fratello, e non ti accorgi della trave che è nel tuo occhio?	3 Why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the great log in your own?
4 O come dirai al tuo fratello: “Lascia che tolga la pagliuzza dal tuo occhio”, mentre nel tuo occhio c’è la trave?	4 And how dare you say to your brother, "Let me take that splinter out of your eye," when, look, there is agreat log in your own?
5 Ipocrita! Togli prima la trave dal tuo occhio e allora ci vedrai bene per togliere la pagliuzza dall’occhio del tuo fratello.	5 Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you wil see clearly enough to take thesplinter out of your brother's eye.
6 Non date le cose sante ai cani e non gettate le vostre perle davanti ai porci, perché non le calpestino con le loro zampe e poi si voltino per sbranarvi.	6 'Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs, or they may trample themand then turn on you and tear you to pieces.
7 Chiedete e vi sarà dato, cercate e troverete, bussate e vi sarà aperto.	7 'Ask, and it wil be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
8 Perché chiunque chiede riceve, e chi cerca trova, e a chi bussa sarà aperto.	8 Everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks will have the dooropened.
9 Chi di voi, al figlio che gli chiede un pane, darà una pietra?	9 Is there anyone among you who would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread?
10 E se gli chiede un pesce, gli darà una serpe?	10 Or would hand him a snake when he asked for a fish?
11 Se voi, dunque, che siete cattivi, sapete dare cose buone ai vostri figli, quanto più il Padre vostro che è nei cieli darà cose buone a quelli che gliele chiedono!	11 If you, then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more wil yourFather in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
12 Tutto quanto volete che gli uomini facciano a voi, anche voi fatelo a loro: questa infatti è la Legge e i Profeti.	12 'So always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that is the Law and the Prophets.
13 Entrate per la porta stretta, perché larga è la porta e spaziosa la via che conduce alla perdizione, e molti sono quelli che vi entrano.	13 'Enter by the narrow gate, since the road that leads to destruction is wide and spacious, and manytake it;
14 Quanto stretta è la porta e angusta la via che conduce alla vita, e pochi sono quelli che la trovano!	14 but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
15 Guardatevi dai falsi profeti, che vengono a voi in veste di pecore, ma dentro sono lupi rapaci!	15 'Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves.
16 Dai loro frutti li riconoscerete. Si raccoglie forse uva dagli spini, o fichi dai rovi?	16 You wil be able to tel them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
17 Così ogni albero buono produce frutti buoni e ogni albero cattivo produce frutti cattivi;	17 In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit.
18 un albero buono non può produrre frutti cattivi, né un albero cattivo produrre frutti buoni.	18 A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit.
19 Ogni albero che non dà buon frutto viene tagliato e gettato nel fuoco.	19 Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire.
20 Dai loro frutti dunque li riconoscerete.	20 I repeat, you wil be able to tel them by their fruits.
21 Non chiunque mi dice: “Signore, Signore”, entrerà nel regno dei cieli, ma colui che fa la volontà del Padre mio che è nei cieli.	21 'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who wil enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the personwho does the wil of my Father in heaven.
22 In quel giorno molti mi diranno: “Signore, Signore, non abbiamo forse profetato nel tuo nome? E nel tuo nome non abbiamo forse scacciato demòni? E nel tuo nome non abbiamo forse compiuto molti prodigi?”.	22 When the day comes many wil say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, drive outdemons in your name, work many miracles in your name?"
23 Ma allora io dichiarerò loro: “Non vi ho mai conosciuti. Allontanatevi da me, voi che operate l’iniquità!”.	23 Then I shal tel them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, al evil doers!
24 Perciò chiunque ascolta queste mie parole e le mette in pratica, sarà simile a un uomo saggio, che ha costruito la sua casa sulla roccia.	24 'Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock.
25 Cadde la pioggia, strariparono i fiumi, soffiarono i venti e si abbatterono su quella casa, ma essa non cadde, perché era fondata sulla roccia.	25 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fal :it was founded on rock.
26 Chiunque ascolta queste mie parole e non le mette in pratica, sarà simile a un uomo stolto, che ha costruito la sua casa sulla sabbia.	26 But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid manwho built his house on sand.
27 Cadde la pioggia, strariparono i fiumi, soffiarono i venti e si abbatterono su quella casa, ed essa cadde e la sua rovina fu grande».	27 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!'
28 Quando Gesù ebbe terminato questi discorsi, le folle erano stupite del suo insegnamento:	28 Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on thepeople
29 egli infatti insegnava loro come uno che ha autorità, e non come i loro scribi.	29 because he taught them with authority, unlike their own scribes.
