1 Non giudicate, per non essere giudicati;	1 "Stop judging, that you may not be judged.
2 perché con il giudizio con il quale giudicate sarete giudicati voi e con la misura con la quale misurate sarà misurato a voi.	2 For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.
3 Perché guardi la pagliuzza che è nell’occhio del tuo fratello, e non ti accorgi della trave che è nel tuo occhio?	3 Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye?
4 O come dirai al tuo fratello: “Lascia che tolga la pagliuzza dal tuo occhio”, mentre nel tuo occhio c’è la trave?	4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in your eye?
5 Ipocrita! Togli prima la trave dal tuo occhio e allora ci vedrai bene per togliere la pagliuzza dall’occhio del tuo fratello.	5 You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye.
6 Non date le cose sante ai cani e non gettate le vostre perle davanti ai porci, perché non le calpestino con le loro zampe e poi si voltino per sbranarvi.	6 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.
7 Chiedete e vi sarà dato, cercate e troverete, bussate e vi sarà aperto.	7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
8 Perché chiunque chiede riceve, e chi cerca trova, e a chi bussa sarà aperto.	8 For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 Chi di voi, al figlio che gli chiede un pane, darà una pietra?	9 Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread,
10 E se gli chiede un pesce, gli darà una serpe?	10 or a snake when he asks for a fish?
11 Se voi, dunque, che siete cattivi, sapete dare cose buone ai vostri figli, quanto più il Padre vostro che è nei cieli darà cose buone a quelli che gliele chiedono!	11 If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.
12 Tutto quanto volete che gli uomini facciano a voi, anche voi fatelo a loro: questa infatti è la Legge e i Profeti.	12 "Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.
13 Entrate per la porta stretta, perché larga è la porta e spaziosa la via che conduce alla perdizione, e molti sono quelli che vi entrano.	13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many.
14 Quanto stretta è la porta e angusta la via che conduce alla vita, e pochi sono quelli che la trovano!	14 How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.
15 Guardatevi dai falsi profeti, che vengono a voi in veste di pecore, ma dentro sono lupi rapaci!	15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves.
16 Dai loro frutti li riconoscerete. Si raccoglie forse uva dagli spini, o fichi dai rovi?	16 By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17 Così ogni albero buono produce frutti buoni e ogni albero cattivo produce frutti cattivi;	17 Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit.
18 un albero buono non può produrre frutti cattivi, né un albero cattivo produrre frutti buoni.	18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit.
19 Ogni albero che non dà buon frutto viene tagliato e gettato nel fuoco.	19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Dai loro frutti dunque li riconoscerete.	20 So by their fruits you will know them.
21 Non chiunque mi dice: “Signore, Signore”, entrerà nel regno dei cieli, ma colui che fa la volontà del Padre mio che è nei cieli.	21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
22 In quel giorno molti mi diranno: “Signore, Signore, non abbiamo forse profetato nel tuo nome? E nel tuo nome non abbiamo forse scacciato demòni? E nel tuo nome non abbiamo forse compiuto molti prodigi?”.	22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?'
23 Ma allora io dichiarerò loro: “Non vi ho mai conosciuti. Allontanatevi da me, voi che operate l’iniquità!”.	23 Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.'
24 Perciò chiunque ascolta queste mie parole e le mette in pratica, sarà simile a un uomo saggio, che ha costruito la sua casa sulla roccia.	24 "Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
25 Cadde la pioggia, strariparono i fiumi, soffiarono i venti e si abbatterono su quella casa, ma essa non cadde, perché era fondata sulla roccia.	25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
26 Chiunque ascolta queste mie parole e non le mette in pratica, sarà simile a un uomo stolto, che ha costruito la sua casa sulla sabbia.	26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
27 Cadde la pioggia, strariparono i fiumi, soffiarono i venti e si abbatterono su quella casa, ed essa cadde e la sua rovina fu grande».	27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."
28 Quando Gesù ebbe terminato questi discorsi, le folle erano stupite del suo insegnamento:	28 When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,
29 egli infatti insegnava loro come uno che ha autorità, e non come i loro scribi.	29 for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
