Geremia 43

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Quando Geremia finì di riferire a tutto il popolo tutte le parole del Signore, loro Dio – tutte quelle parole per cui il Signore lo aveva inviato a loro –,	1 When Jeremiah had finished tel ing all the people al the words of Yahweh their God, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to tel them -- al the words quoted above-
2 Azaria, figlio di Osaià, e Giovanni, figlio di Karèach, e tutti quegli uomini superbi e ribelli dissero a Geremia: «Una menzogna stai dicendo! Non ti ha inviato il Signore, nostro Dio, a dirci: “Non andate in Egitto per dimorarvi”;	2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all those arrogant men, said to Jeremiah,'You are lying. Yahweh our God did not send you to say, "Do not go to Egypt and settle there."
3 ma Baruc, figlio di Neria, ti istiga contro di noi per consegnarci nelle mani dei Caldei, perché ci uccidano e ci deportino a Babilonia».	3 It was Baruch son of Neriah, who keeps inciting you against us, to hand us over to the Chaldaeans sothat they can put us to death or deport us to Babylon.'
4 Pertanto Giovanni, figlio di Karèach, e tutti i capi delle bande armate e tutto il popolo non obbedirono all’invito del Signore di rimanere nel paese di Giuda.	4 So neither Johanan nor any of the military leaders nor any of the people obeyed the voice of Yahwehby staying in the country of Judah.
5 Così Giovanni, figlio di Karèach, e tutti i capi delle bande armate raccolsero tutti i superstiti di Giuda, che erano ritornati per abitare nella terra di Giuda da tutte le regioni in mezzo alle quali erano stati dispersi,	5 Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders led off the entire remnant of Judah, thosewho had come back from all the nations where they had been driven to live in the country of Judah:

7 e andarono nella terra d’Egitto, non avendo dato ascolto alla voce del Signore, e giunsero fino a Tafni.	7 And so, in disobedience to the voice of Yahweh, they reached Egypt and arrived at Tahpanhes.
8 Allora la parola del Signore fu rivolta a Geremia a Tafni:	8 At Tahpanhes the word of Yahweh was addressed to Jeremiah as fol ows,
9 «Prendi in mano grandi pietre e sotterrale nel fango nel terreno argilloso all’ingresso della casa del faraone a Tafni, sotto gli occhi dei Giudei.	9 'Take some large stones and bury them in the cement on the terrace outside the entrance of Pharaoh'spalace in Tahpanhes, where the Judaeans can see you.
10 Quindi dirai loro: Dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: Ecco, io manderò a prendere Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, mio servo; egli porrà il trono su queste pietre che hai sotterrato e stenderà il baldacchino sopra di esse.	10 Then say to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shal send for my servantNebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he wil place his throne on these stones I have buried, and spread hiscanopy above them.
11 Verrà infatti e colpirà la terra d’Egitto, mandando a morte chi è destinato alla morte, alla schiavitù chi è destinato alla schiavitù e uccidendo di spada chi è destinato alla spada.	11 When he comes, he wil defeat Egypt: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for captivity, tocaptivity; those for the sword, to the sword!
12 Darà alle fiamme i templi degli dèi d’Egitto, li brucerà e porterà gli dèi in esilio, spidocchierà la terra d’Egitto come un pastore pulisce dai pidocchi il mantello, poi se ne andrà indisturbato.	12 "He wil set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he wil burn these gods or take them prisoner; likea shepherd wrapping his cloak round him, so he will wrap Egypt round him, and then leave without anyonelaying hands on him.
13 Frantumerà gli obelischi del tempio del Sole nella terra d’Egitto e darà alle fiamme i templi degli dèi d’Egitto».	13 He wil break the obelisks of the temple of the Sun in Egypt, and burn down the temples of the gods ofEgypt." '
