Geremia 25

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Questa parola fu rivolta a Geremia per tutto il popolo di Giuda nel quarto anno del regno di Ioiakìm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, cioè nel primo anno del regno di Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia.	1 The word that was addressed to Jeremiah about al the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakimson of Josiah, king of Judah (that is to say the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon).
2 Il profeta Geremia l’annunciò a tutto il popolo di Giuda e a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme dicendo:	2 The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed it before al the people of Judah and al the inhabitants of Jerusalem:
3 «Dall’anno tredicesimo del regno di Giosia, figlio di Amon, re di Giuda, fino ad oggi sono ventitré anni che mi è stata rivolta la parola del Signore e io ho parlato a voi con premura e insistenza, ma voi non avete ascoltato.	3 'For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until today, theword of Yahweh has been addressed to me and I have never tired of speaking to you (but you have not listened.
4 Il Signore vi ha inviato con assidua premura tutti i suoi servi, i profeti, ma voi non avete ascoltato e non avete prestato orecchio per ascoltare	4 Furthermore, Yahweh has untiringly sent you al his servants the prophets, but you have not listened orpaid attention).
5 quando vi diceva: “Ognuno abbandoni la sua condotta perversa e le sue opere malvagie; allora potrete abitare nella terra che il Signore ha dato a voi e ai vostri padri dai tempi antichi e per sempre.	5 The message was this, "Turn back, each one of you, from your evil behaviour and your evil actions,and you wil go on living on the soil Yahweh long ago gave to you and your ancestors for ever.
6 Non seguite altri dèi per servirli e adorarli e non provocatemi con le opere delle vostre mani e io non vi farò del male.	6 (And do not fol ow other gods to serve and worship them, do not provoke me with things youyourselves have made, and then I shall not harm you.)
7 Ma voi non mi avete ascoltato – oracolo del Signore – e mi avete provocato con l’opera delle vostre mani per vostra disgrazia”.	7 But you have not listened to me (Yahweh declares, so that you have now provoked me with things youyourselves have made, and thus harmed yourselves)."
8 Per questo dice il Signore degli eserciti: Poiché non avete ascoltato le mie parole,	8 'So-this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says, "Since you have not listened to my words,
9 ecco, manderò a prendere tutte le tribù del settentrione – oracolo del Signore – e Nabucodònosor re di Babilonia, mio servo, e li farò venire contro questo paese, contro i suoi abitanti e contro tutte le nazioni confinanti, voterò costoro allo sterminio e li ridurrò a oggetto di orrore, a scherno e a obbrobrio perenne.	9 I shal now send for al the families of the north (Yahweh declares, that is, for Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, my servant) and bring them down on this country and its inhabitants (and on al these surroundingnations); I shal curse them with utter destruction and make them an object of horror, of scorn, and ruin them for ever.
10 Farò cessare in mezzo a loro i canti di gioia e di allegria, il canto dello sposo e della sposa, il rumore della mola e il lume della lampada.	10 From them I shall banish the shouts of rejoicing and mirth, the voices of bridegroom and bride, thesound of the handmil and the light of the lamp;
11 Tutta questa regione sarà distrutta e desolata e queste genti serviranno il re di Babilonia per settanta anni.	11 and this whole country will be reduced to ruin and desolation, and these nations will be enslaved tothe king of Babylon for seventy years.
12 Quando saranno compiuti i settanta anni, punirò per i loro delitti il re di Babilonia e quel popolo – oracolo del Signore –, punirò il paese dei Caldei e lo ridurrò a una desolazione perenne.	12 (But when the seventy years are over, I shall punish the king of Babylon and that nation, Yahwehdeclares, for the wrong they have done, that is, the country of the Chaldaeans, and make it desolate for ever),
13 Manderò dunque a effetto su questo paese tutte le parole che ho pronunciato a suo riguardo, tutto quanto è scritto in questo libro, ciò che Geremia aveva profetizzato contro tutte le nazioni.	13 and against that country I shal perform al the words with which I have threatened it, that is,everything written in this book." '
14 Nazioni numerose e re potenti ridurranno in schiavitù anche costoro, e così li ripagherò secondo le loro azioni e le opere delle loro mani».	14 What Jeremiah prophesied against al the nations. ('For these in their turn are to be enslaved topowerful nations and great kings, and I shal pay them back as their deeds and handiwork deserve.')
15 Così mi disse il Signore, Dio d’Israele: «Prendi dalla mia mano questa coppa di vino della mia ira e falla bere a tutte le nazioni alle quali ti invio,	15 For Yahweh, the God of Israel, said this to me, 'Take this cup of the wine of wrath and make al thenations to whom I send you drink it;
16 perché ne bevano, ne restino inebriate ed escano di senno dinanzi alla spada che manderò in mezzo a loro».	16 they wil drink and reel and lose their wits, because of the sword I am sending among them.'
17 Presi dunque la coppa dalla mano del Signore e la diedi a bere a tutte le nazioni alle quali il Signore mi aveva inviato:	17 I took the cup from Yahweh's hand and made al the nations to whom Yahweh sent me drink it
18 a Gerusalemme e alle città di Giuda, ai re e ai capi, per abbandonarli alla distruzione, all’orrore, allo scherno e alla maledizione, come avviene ancora oggi;	18 (Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and its chief men, to make them a ruin, an object ofhorror and derision and a curse, as is the case today):
19 anche al faraone, re d’Egitto, ai suoi ministri, ai suoi nobili e a tutto il suo popolo,	19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his chief men and al his people,
20 alla gente d’ogni razza e a tutti i re del paese di Us, a tutti i re del paese dei Filistei, ad Àscalon, a Gaza, a Ekron e ai superstiti di Asdod,	20 with the whole conglomeration of peoples there (al the kings of the country of Uz); al the kings of thecountry of the Philistines, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron and what is stil left of Ashdod;
21 a Edom, a Moab e ad Ammon,	21 Edom, Moab and the Ammonites;
22 a tutti i re di Tiro e a tutti i re di Sidone e ai re dell’isola che è al di là del mare,	22 (all) the kings of Tyre, (all) the kings of Sidon, the kings of the island across the sea;
23 a Dedan, a Tema, a Buz e a quanti si radono le tempie,	23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, al the people with shaven temples;
24 a tutti i re degli Arabi che abitano nel deserto,	24 al the kings of Arabia (and all the kings of the conglomeration of peoples) who live in the desert
25 a tutti i re di Zimrì, a tutti i re dell’Elam e a tutti i re della Media,	25 (all the kings of Zimri), all the kings of Elam, and al the kings of Media;
26 a tutti i re del settentrione, vicini e lontani, agli uni e agli altri e a tutti i regni che sono sulla terra; il re di Sesac berrà dopo di loro.	26 al the kings of the north, near and far, one after another: in short, all the kingdoms on the face of theearth. (As for the king of Sheshak, he wil drink last of all.)
27 «Tu riferirai loro: Dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d’Israele: Bevete e inebriatevi, vomitate e cadete senza rialzarvi davanti alla spada che io mando in mezzo a voi.	27 'You wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Drink! Get drunk! Vomit! Fall,never to rise again, before the sword that I am sending among you!"
28 Se poi rifiuteranno di prendere dalla tua mano la coppa da bere, tu dirai loro: Dice il Signore degli eserciti: Berrete per forza!	28 If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, you wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: You must drink!
29 Ecco, io comincio a castigare la città che porta il mio nome, e voi pretendete di rimanere impuniti? No, non resterete impuniti, perché io farò venire la spada su tutti gli abitanti della terra. Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.	29 Look, for a start, I am bringing disaster on the city that bears my name, so are you likely to gounpunished? You certainly wil not go unpunished, for next I shal summon a sword against al the inhabitants ofthe land, Yahweh declares."
30 Profetizzerai tutte queste cose e dirai loro: Il Signore ruggisce dall’alto, dalla sua santa dimora fa udire la sua voce; alza il suo ruggito contro la prateria, manda grida di giubilo come i pigiatori delle uve, contro tutti gli abitanti della terra.	30 'For your part, you are to prophesy al these words to them. Say to them: "Yahweh roars from on high,he thunders from his holy dwel ing-place, loudly he roars at his own fold, shouts aloud like those who tread thegrape at all the inhabitants of the land.
31 Il rumore giunge fino all’estremità della terra, perché il Signore fa un processo alle nazioni; chiama in giudizio ogni uomo, condanna a morte gli empi. Oracolo del Signore.	31 The noise resounds to the remotest parts of the earth. For Yahweh is indicting the nations, arraigningal humanity for judgement; the wicked he assigns to the sword, Yahweh declares.
32 Dice il Signore degli eserciti: Ecco, la sventura passa di nazione in nazione, si alza un grande turbine dall’estremità della terra».	32 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, disaster is spreading from nation to nation, a mighty tempest isrising from the far ends of the earth.
33 In quel giorno i colpiti dal Signore si troveranno da un’estremità all’altra della terra; non saranno rimpianti né raccolti né sepolti, ma diverranno come letame sul suolo.	33 "Those slaughtered by Yahweh that day wil be scattered across the world from end to end. No dirgewil be raised for them; no one wil gather them or bury them; they will stay lying on the surface like dung.
34 Urlate, pastori, gridate, rotolatevi nella polvere, capi del gregge! Perché sono giunti i giorni del vostro macello; stramazzerete come vaso prezioso.	34 "Howl, shepherds, shriek, roll on the ground, you lords of the flock, for your days have come to beslaughtered and to be scattered, and like a choice vase you will fal .
35 Non ci sarà rifugio per i pastori né scampo per i capi del gregge.	35 No refuge then for the shepherds, no escape for the lords of the flock!
36 Voci e grida dei pastori, urla delle guide del gregge, perché il Signore distrugge il loro pascolo;	36 Listen! A shriek from the shepherds, a howl from the lords of the flock! For Yahweh has laid theirpasture waste,
37 sono devastati i prati tranquilli a causa dell’ardente ira del Signore.	37 the peaceful sheepfolds are reduced to silence owing to Yahweh's furious anger.
38 Il leone abbandona la sua tana, la loro terra è diventata una desolazione, a causa della spada devastatrice e della sua ira ardente.	38 The lion has left his lair and their country is a wasteland now, owing to the devastating fury, owing tohis furious anger." '
