Geremia 23

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 «Guai ai pastori che fanno perire e disperdono il gregge del mio pascolo. Oracolo del Signore.	1 'Disaster for the shepherds who lose and scatter the sheep of my pasture, Yahweh declares.
2 Perciò dice il Signore, Dio d’Israele, contro i pastori che devono pascere il mio popolo: Voi avete disperso le mie pecore, le avete scacciate e non ve ne siete preoccupati; ecco io vi punirò per la malvagità delle vostre opere. Oracolo del Signore.	2 This, therefore, is what Yahweh, God of Israel, says about the shepherds who shepherd my people,"You have scattered my flock, you have driven them away and have not taken care of them. Right, I shal takecare of you for your misdeeds, Yahweh declares!
3 Radunerò io stesso il resto delle mie pecore da tutte le regioni dove le ho scacciate e le farò tornare ai loro pascoli; saranno feconde e si moltiplicheranno.	3 But the remnant of my flock I myself shal gather from all the countries where I have driven them, andbring them back to their folds; they will be fruitful and increase in numbers.
4 Costituirò sopra di esse pastori che le faranno pascolare, così che non dovranno più temere né sgomentarsi; non ne mancherà neppure una. Oracolo del Signore.	4 For them I shall raise up shepherds to shepherd them and pasture them. No fear, no terror for themany more; not one shal be lost, Yahweh declares!
5 Ecco, verranno giorni – oracolo del Signore – nei quali susciterò a Davide un germoglio giusto, che regnerà da vero re e sarà saggio ed eserciterà il diritto e la giustizia sulla terra.	5 Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shal raise an upright Branch for David; he willreign as king and be wise, doing what is just and upright in the country.
6 Nei suoi giorni Giuda sarà salvato e Israele vivrà tranquillo, e lo chiameranno con questo nome: Signore-nostra-giustizia.	6 In his days Judah wil triumph and Israel live in safety. And this is the name he wil be called, 'Yahweh-is-our-Saving-Justice.' "
7 Pertanto, ecco, verranno giorni – oracolo del Signore – nei quali non si dirà più: “Per la vita del Signore che ha fatto uscire gli Israeliti dalla terra d’Egitto!”,	7 'So, look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people wil no longer say, "As Yahweh liveswho brought the Israelites out of Egypt,"
8 ma piuttosto: “Per la vita del Signore che ha fatto uscire e ha ricondotto la discendenza della casa d’Israele dalla terra del settentrione e da tutte le regioni dove li aveva dispersi!”; costoro dimoreranno nella propria terra».	8 but, "As Yahweh lives who led back and brought home the offspring of the House of Israel from theland of the north and all the countries to which he had driven them, to live on their own soil." '
9 Contro i profeti. Mi si spezza il cuore nel petto, tremano tutte le mie ossa, sono come un ubriaco e come uno inebetito dal vino, a causa del Signore e delle sue sante parole.	9 On the prophets. My heart is broken within me, I tremble in al my bones; I am like a drunken man, likea man overcome with wine, because of Yahweh and his holy words:
10 La terra è piena di adùlteri; per la maledizione tutta la terra è in lutto, sono inariditi i pascoli della steppa. La loro corsa è diretta al male e la loro forza è l’ingiustizia.	10 'For the country is ful of adulterers; yes, because of a curse, the country is in mourning and thepasturage in the desert has dried up; they are prompt to do wrong, make no effort to do right.
11 «Persino il profeta, persino il sacerdote sono empi, persino nella mia casa ho trovato la loro malvagità. Oracolo del Signore.	11 Yes, even prophet and priest are godless, I have detected their wickedness in my own House,Yahweh declares.
12 Perciò la loro strada sarà per loro come sentiero sdrucciolevole, saranno sospinti nelle tenebre e cadranno in esse, poiché io manderò su di loro la sventura, nell’anno del loro castigo. Oracolo del Signore.	12 Because of this, their way wil prove treacherous going for them; in the darkness where they aredriven, there they wil fall. For I shal bring disaster on them, when the year for punishing them comes, Yahwehdeclares.
13 Tra i profeti di Samaria ho visto cose stolte: profetavano in nome di Baal e traviavano il mio popolo Israele.	13 'In the prophets of Samaria I have seen insanity: they prophesied in the name of Baal and led mypeople Israel astray.
14 Ma tra i profeti di Gerusalemme ho visto cose nefande: commettono adultèri e praticano la menzogna, danno aiuto ai malfattori, e nessuno si converte dalla sua malvagità; per me sono tutti come Sòdoma e i suoi abitanti come Gomorra».	14 But in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: adultery, persistent lying, suchabetting of the wicked that no one renounces his wickedness. To me they are al like Sodom and its inhabitantsare like Gomorrah.
15 Pertanto così dice il Signore degli eserciti contro i profeti: «Ecco, farò loro ingoiare assenzio e bere acque avvelenate, perché dai profeti di Gerusalemme l’empietà si è sparsa su tutta la terra».	15 So this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says about the prophets, "Now I shal give them wormwood to eatand make them drink poisoned water, since from the prophets of Jerusalem godlessness has spread throughoutthe land."
16 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: «Non ascoltate le parole dei profeti che profetizzano per voi; essi vi fanno vaneggiare, vi annunciano fantasie del loro cuore, non quanto viene dalla bocca del Signore.	16 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Do not listen to what those prophets prophesy to you; they are deludingyou, they retail visions of their own, and not what comes from Yahweh's mouth.
17 A coloro che disprezzano la parola del Signore, dicono: “Avrete la pace!”, e a quanti, ostinati, seguono il loro cuore: “Non vi coglierà la sventura!”.	17 To those who despise me, they keep saying: Yahweh has spoken: you wil have peace! and to al whofol ow their own stubborn inclinations: No disaster wil touch you."
18 Ma chi ha assistito al consiglio del Signore, chi l’ha visto e ha udito la sua parola? Chi vi ha fatto attenzione e ha obbedito?	18 But who has been present in Yahweh's council and seen, and heard his word? Who has paidattention to his word and listened to it?
19 Ecco la tempesta del Signore, il suo furore si scatena; una tempesta travolgente turbina sul capo dei malvagi.	19 Look, Yahweh's hurricane, his wrath, bursts out, a fearsome hurricane, to burst on the heads of thewicked;
20 Non cesserà l’ira del Signore, finché non abbia compiuto e attuato i progetti del suo cuore. Alla fine dei giorni lo comprenderete pienamente!	20 Yahweh's anger wil not withdraw until he has performed, has carried out, what he has in mind. In thefinal days, you wil understand this clearly,
21 Io non ho inviato questi profeti ed essi corrono; non ho parlato a loro ed essi profetizzano.	21 'I did not send these prophets, yet they ran! I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied!
22 Se hanno assistito al mio consiglio, facciano udire le mie parole al mio popolo e li distolgano dalla loro condotta perversa e dalla malvagità delle loro azioni.	22 Had they been present in my council, they could have proclaimed my words to my people and turnedthem from their evil way and from the wickedness of their deeds!
23 Sono forse Dio solo da vicino? Oracolo del Signore. Non sono Dio anche da lontano?	23 'Am I a God when near, Yahweh demands, and not a God when far away?
24 Può nascondersi un uomo nel nascondiglio senza che io lo veda? Oracolo del Signore. Non riempio io il cielo e la terra? Oracolo del Signore.	24 Can anyone hide somewhere secret without my seeing him? Yahweh demands. Do I not fil heavenand earth? Yahweh demands.
25 Ho sentito quanto affermano i profeti che profetizzano falsamente nel mio nome: “Ho avuto un sogno, ho avuto un sogno!”.	25 'I have heard what the prophets say who make their lying prophecies in my name. "I have had adream," they say, "I have had a dream!"
26 Fino a quando ci saranno nel mio popolo profeti che predicono cose false e profetizzano le fantasie del loro cuore?	26 How long are there to be those among the prophets who prophesy lies and are in fact prophets oftheir own delusions?
27 Essi credono di far dimenticare il mio nome al mio popolo con i loro sogni, che si raccontano l’un l’altro, come i loro padri dimenticarono il mio nome per Baal!	27 They are doing their best, by means of the dreams that they keep tel ing each other, to make mypeople forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name in favour of Baal.
28 Il profeta che ha avuto un sogno racconti il suo sogno; chi ha udito la mia parola annunci fedelmente la mia parola. Che cosa ha in comune la paglia con il grano? Oracolo del Signore.	28 Let the prophet who has had a dream tel it for a dream! And let him who receives a word from me,deliver my word accurately! 'What have straw and wheat in common? Yahweh demands.
29 La mia parola non è forse come il fuoco – oracolo del Signore – e come un martello che spacca la roccia?	29 Is my word not like fire, Yahweh demands, is it not like a hammer shattering a rock?
30 Perciò, eccomi contro i profeti – oracolo del Signore – i quali si rubano gli uni gli altri le mie parole.	30 'So, then, I have a quarrel with the prophets, Yahweh declares, that steal my words from one another.
31 Eccomi contro i profeti – oracolo del Signore – che muovono la lingua per dare oracoli.	31 I have a quarrel with the prophets, Yahweh declares, who wag their tongues to utter prophecies.
32 Eccomi contro i profeti di sogni menzogneri – oracolo del Signore – che li raccontano e traviano il mio popolo con menzogne e millanterie. Io non li ho inviati né ho dato loro alcun ordine; essi non gioveranno affatto a questo popolo. Oracolo del Signore.	32 I have a quarrel with the prophets who make prophecies out of lying dreams, Yahweh declares, whorecount them, and lead my people astray by their lies and their bragging. I certainly never sent them orcommissioned them, and they serve no good purpose for this people, Yahweh declares.
33 Quando dunque questo popolo o un profeta o un sacerdote ti domanderà: “Qual è il peso del messaggio del Signore?”, tu riferirai loro: “Voi siete il peso del Signore; io vi rigetterò”. Oracolo del Signore.	33 'And when this people, or a prophet, or a priest, asks you, "What is Yahweh's burden?" you mustanswer, "You are the burden, and I shal get rid of you, Yahweh declares!"
34 E il profeta o il sacerdote o il popolo che dica: “Peso del Signore!”, io lo punirò nella persona e nella famiglia.	34 'As for the prophet, the priest, or anyone else, who says, "Yahweh's burden", I shall punish that man,and his household too.
35 Direte l’uno all’altro: “Che cosa ha risposto il Signore?”, e: “Che cosa ha detto il Signore?”.	35 This is what you must say to one another, among yourselves, "What answer has Yahweh given?" or"What has Yahweh said?"
36 Non farete più menzione del peso del Signore, altrimenti per chiunque la sua stessa parola sarà considerata un peso, per avere travisato le parole del Dio vivente, del Signore degli eserciti, nostro Dio.	36 But stop using the expression "Yahweh's burden", for what each man says will be his ownresponsibility. And you twist the words of the living God, of Yahweh Sabaoth, our God.
37 Così dirai al profeta: “Che cosa ti ha risposto il Signore?”, e: “Che cosa ha detto il Signore?”.	37 This is the way to speak to a prophet, "What answer has Yahweh given?" or "What has Yahwehsaid?"
38 Ma se direte: “Peso del Signore”, allora così parla il Signore: Poiché ripetete: “Peso del Signore”, mentre vi avevo ordinato di non dire più: “Peso del Signore”,	38 But if you say, "Yahweh's burden", then Yahweh says this, "Since you use the expression 'Yahweh'sburden', when I have warned you to stop saying, 'Yahweh's burden',
39 ecco, proprio per questo, io mi caricherò di voi come di un peso e getterò lontano dal mio volto voi e la città che ho dato a voi e ai vostri padri.	39 believe me, I shal pick you up and fling you from my presence, you and the city I gave to you and toyour ancestors.
40 Vi coprirò di obbrobrio perenne e di confusione perenne, che non sarà mai dimenticata».	40 I shal bring down everlasting shame on you, everlasting and unforgettable disgrace." '
