BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Beato l'uomo che non ha peccato con le parole e non è tormentato dal rimorso dei peccati.	1 Blessed is anyone who has not sinned in speech and who needs feel no remorse for sins.
2 Beato chi non ha nulla da rimproverarsi e chi non ha perduto la sua speranza.	2 Blessed is anyone whose conscience brings no reproach and who has never given up hope.
3 A un uomo gretto non conviene la ricchezza, a che servono gli averi a un uomo avaro?	3 Wealth is not the right thing for the niggardly, and what use are possessions to the covetous?
4 Chi accumula a forza di privazioni accumula per altri, con i suoi beni faran festa gli estranei.	4 Whoever hoards by stinting himself is hoarding for others, and others wil live sumptuously on hisriches.
5 Chi è cattivo con se stesso con chi si mostrerà buono? Non sa godere delle sue ricchezze.	5 If someone is mean to himself, whom does he benefit? he does not even enjoy what is his own.
6 Nessuno è peggiore di chi tormenta se stesso; questa è la ricompensa della sua malizia.	6 No one is meaner than the person who is mean to himself, this is how his wickedness repays him.
7 Se fa il bene, lo fa per distrazione; ma alla fine mostrerà la sua malizia.	7 If he does any good, he does it unintentional y, and in the end he himself reveals his wickedness.
8 È malvagio l'uomo dall'occhio invidioso; volge altrove lo sguardo e disprezza la vita altrui.	8 Wicked the person who has an envious eye, averting his face, and careless of others' lives.
9 L'occhio dell'avaro non si accontenta di una parte, l'insana cupidigia inaridisce l'anima sua.	9 The eye of the grasping is not content with what he has, greed shrivels up the soul.
10 Un occhio cattivo è invidioso anche del pane e sulla sua tavola esso manca.	10 The miser is grudging of bread, there is famine at his table.
11 Figlio, per quanto ti è possibile, tràttati bene e presenta al Signore le offerte dovute.	11 My child, treat yourself as wel as you can afford, and bring worthy offerings to the Lord.
12 Ricòrdati che la morte non tarderà e il decreto degli inferi non t'è stato rivelato.	12 Remember that death wil not delay, and that you have never seen Sheol's contract.
13 Prima di morire fa' del bene all'amico, secondo le tue possibilità sii con lui generoso.	13 Be kind to your friend before you die, treat him as generously as you can afford.
14 Non privarti di un giorno felice; non ti sfugga alcuna parte di un buon desiderio.	14 Do not refuse yourself the good things of today, do not let your share of what is lawfully desired passyou by.
15 Forse non lascerai a un altro le tue sostanze e le tue fatiche per esser divise fra gli eredi?	15 Wil you not have to leave your fortune to another, and the fruit of your labour to be divided by lot?
16 Regala e accetta regali, distrai l'anima tua, perché negli inferi non c'è gioia da ricercare.	16 Give and receive, enjoy yourself -- there are no pleasures to be found in Sheol.
17 Ogni corpo invecchia come un abito, è una legge da sempre: "Certo si muore!".	17 Like clothes, every body wil wear out, the age -- old law is, 'Everyone must die.'
18 Come foglie verdi su un albero frondoso: le une lascia cadere, altre ne fa spuntare, lo stesso avviene per le generazioni di carne e di sangue: le une muoiono, altre ne nascono.	18 Like foliage growing on a bushy tree, some leaves fal ing, others growing, so are the generations offlesh and blood: one dies, another is born.
19 Ogni opera corruttibile scompare; chi la compie se ne andrà con essa.	19 Every achievement rots away and perishes, and with it goes its author.
20 Beato l'uomo che medita sulla sapienza e ragiona con l'intelligenza,	20 Blessed is anyone who meditates on wisdom, and reasons with intelligence,
21 e considera nel cuore le sue vie: ne penetrerà con la mente i segreti.	21 who studies her ways in his heart, and ponders her secrets.
22 La insegue come uno che segue una pista, si apposta sui suoi sentieri.	22 He pursues her like a hunter, and lies in wait by her path;
23 Egli spia alle sue finestre e starà ad ascoltare alla sua porta.	23 he peeps in at her windows, and listens at her doors;
24 Fa sosta vicino alla sua casa e fisserà un chiodo nelle sue pareti;	24 he lodges close to her house, and fixes his peg in her wal s;
25 alzerà la propria tenda presso di essa e si riparerà in un rifugio di benessere;	25 he pitches his tent at her side, and lodges in an excel ent lodging;
26 metterà i propri figli sotto la sua protezione e sotto i suoi rami soggiornerà;	26 he sets his children in her shade, and camps beneath her branches;
27 da essa sarà protetto contro il caldo, egli abiterà all'ombra della sua gloria.	27 he is sheltered by her from the heat, and in her glory he makes his home.
