BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 No desees multitud de hijos malvados, no te goces en tener hijos impíos.	1 Do not long for a brood of worthless children, and do not take pleasure in godless sons.
2 Aunque sean muchos, no te goces en ellos, si con ellos no se halla el temor del Señor.	2 However many you have, take no pleasure in them, unless the fear of the Lord lives among them.
3 No pongas en su vida tu confianza, ni te creas seguro por ser muchos, que más vale uno que mil, y morir sin hijos que tener hijos impíos.	3 Do not count on their having long life, do not put too much faith in their number; for better have onethan a thousand, better die childless than have children who are godless.
4 Pues uno solo inteligente poblará una ciudad mas la raza de los sin ley quedará despoblada.	4 One person of sense can populate a city, but a race of lawless people will be destroyed.
5 Muchas cosas así han visto mis ojos, y más graves aún oyeron mis oídos.	5 My eyes have seen many such things, my ears have heard things even more impressive.
6 En la reunión de los pecadores prende el fuego, contra la nación rebelde se inflama la Cólera.	6 Fire is kindled in a sinful society, Retribution blazes in a rebel ious nation.
7 No perdonó él a los antiguos gigantes que se rebelaron fiados de su fuerza.	7 God did not pardon the giants of old who, confident in their strength, had rebel ed.
8 No pasó por alto al vecindario de Lot, a los que abominaba por su orgullo.	8 He did not spare the people with whom Lot lived; he abhorred them, rather, for their pride.
9 No se apiadó de la nación perdida, de los que estaban engreídos en sus pecados.	9 He was pitiless to the nation of perdition -- those people who gloried in their sins-
10 Igual trató a los seiscientos mil de a pie que se habían unido en la dureza de su corazón.	10 as also to the six hundred thousand men on the march, who had banded together in their obstinacy.
11 Aunque fuera uno solo el de dura cerviz, sería asombroso que quedara impune. Pues misericordia e ira están con El, tan poderoso en perdón como pródigo en ira.	11 And had there been only one man stubborn, it would have been amazing had he escaped unpunished,since mercy and wrath alike belong to the Lord who is mighty to forgive and to pour out wrath.
12 Tan grande como su misericordia es su severidad, según sus obras juzga al hombre.	12 As great as his mercy, so is his severity; he judges each person as his deeds deserve:
13 No escapará el pecador con su rapiña, ni quedará fallida la paciencia del piadoso.	13 the sinner wil not escape with his il -gotten gains nor the patience of the devout go for nothing.
14 Para toda limosna tiene él un sitio, cada cual hallará según sus obras.	14 He takes note of every charitable action, and everyone is treated as he deserves.

17 No digas: «Del Señor me esconderé, y ¿quién allá arriba se acordará de mí? Entre la gran muchedumbre no seré reconocido, pues ¿qué soy yo en la inmensa creación?»	17 Do not say, 'I shal hide from the Lord; who is going to remember me up there? I shall not be noticedamong so many people; what am I in the immensity of creation?'
18 Mira, el cielo, y el cielo de los cielos, el abismo y la tierra serán sacudidos a la hora de su visita.	18 For see, the sky and the heavens above the sky, the abyss and the earth shake at his visitation.
19 A una los montes y los cimientos de la tierra bajo su mirada temblarán de espanto.	19 The mountains and earth's foundations alike quail and tremble when he looks at them.
20 Mas en todo esto no piensa el corazón del hombre, y en sus caminos, ¿quién repara?	20 But to all this no one gives thought. Who keeps his movements in mind?
21 Hay tempestad que no ve el hombre, y la mayoría de sus obras se hacen en secreto.	21 The storm wind itself is invisible, and most of what he does goes undetected.
22 «Las obras de la justicia, ¿quién las anuncia? ¿quién las aguarda? ¡Pues la alianza está lejos!»	22 'Who wil report whether justice has been done? Who wil be watching? The covenant is remote!'
23 Esto piensa el ruin de corazón; el estúpido, el perdido, sólo piensa necedades.	23 Such are the thoughts of the person of little sense, stupid, misguided, cherishing his fol y.
24 Escúchame, hijo, y el saber aprende, aplica tu corazón a mis palabras.	24 Listen to me, my child, and learn knowledge, and give your whole mind to my words.
25 Con mesura te revelaré la doctrina, con precisión anunciaré el saber.	25 I shal expound discipline methodically and proclaim knowledge with precision.
26 Cuando creó el Señor sus obras desde el principio, desde que las hizo les asignó su puesto.	26 When God created his works in the beginning, he assigned them their places as soon as they weremade.
27 Ordenó para la eternidad sus obras, desde sus comienzos por todas sus edades. Ni tienen hambre ni se cansan, y eso que no abandonan su tarea.	27 He determined his works for al time, from their origins to their distant generations. They know neitherhunger nor weariness, and they never desert their duties.
28 Ninguna choca con otra, jamás desobedecen su palabra.	28 Not one has ever got in the way of another, and they wil never disobey his word.
29 Después de esto el Señor miró a la tierra, y de sus bienes la colmó.	29 And afterwards the Lord looked at the earth, and filled it with his good things.
30 De todo ser viviente cubrió su faz, y a ella vuelven todos.	30 He covered its surface with every kind of animal, and to it they wil return.
