Job 35

BIBLIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Elihú reanudó su discurso y dijo:	1 Then Elihu proceeded and said:
2 ¿Crees que eso es juicioso, piensas ser más justo que Dios,	2 Do you think it right to say, "I am just rather than God?"
3 cuando dices: «¿Qué te importa a ti, o de qué me sirve a mí no haber pecado»?	3 To say, "What does it profit me; what advantage have I more than if I had sinned?"
4 Yo te daré respuesta, y contigo a tus amigos.	4 I have words for a reply to you and your three companions as well.
5 ¡Mira a los cielos y ve, observa cómo las nubes son mas altas que tú!	5 Look up to the skies and behold; regard the heavens high above you.
6 Si pecas, ¿qué le causas?, si se multiplican tus ofensas, ¿qué le haces?	6 If you sin, what injury do you do to God? Even if your offenses are many, how do you hurt him?
7 ¿Qué le das, si eres justo, o qué recibe él de tu mano?	7 If you are righteous, what do you give him, or what does he receive from your hand?
8 A un hombre igual que tú afecta tu maldad, a un hijo de hombre tu justicia.	8 Your wickedness can affect only a man like yourself; and your justice only a fellow human being.
9 Bajo la carga de la opresión se gime, se grita bajo el brazo de los grandes,	9 In great oppression men cry out; they call for help because of the power of the mighty,
10 mas nadie dice: «¿Dónde está Dios, mi hacedor, el que hace resonar los cantares en la noche,	10 Saying, "Where is God, my Maker, who has given visions in the night,
11 el que nos hace más hábiles que las bestias de la tierra, más sabios que los pájaros del cielo?»	11 Taught us rather than the beasts of the earth, and made us wise rather than the birds of the heavens?"
12 Entonces se grita, sin que responda él, a causa del orgullo de los malos.	12 Though thus they cry out, he answers not against the pride of the wicked.
13 Seguro, la falsedad Dios no la escucha, Sadday no le presta atención.	13 But it is idle to say God does not hear or that the Almighty does not take notice.
14 Mucho menos, el decir que no le adviertes, que un proceso está ante él y que le esperas;	14 Even though you say that you see him not, the case is before him; with trembling should you wait upon him.
15 o también que su cólera no castiga nada, y que ignora la rebelión del hombre.	15 But now that you have done otherwise, God's anger punishes, nor does he show concern that a man will die.
16 Job, pues, abre en vano su boca, multiplica a lo tonto las palabras.	16 Yet Job to no purpose opens his mouth, and without knowledge multiplies words.
