Job 32

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Aquellos tres hombres dejaron de replicar a Job, porque se tenía por justo.	1 These three men stopped arguing with Job, because he was convinced of his uprightness.
2 Entonces montó en cólera Elihú, hijo de Barakel el buzita, de la familia de Ram. Su cólera se inflamó contra Job, porque pretendía tener razón frente a Dios;	2 But Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram, became very angry. He fumed with rageagainst Job for thinking that he was right and God was wrong;
3 y también contra sus tres amigos, porque no habían hallado ya nada que replicar y de esa manera habían dejado mal a Dios.	3 and he was equal y angry with the three friends for giving up the argument and thus putting God in thewrong.
4 Mientras hablaban ellos con Job, Elihú se había mantenido a la expectativa, porque eran más viejos que él.	4 While they and Job were talking, Elihu had waited, because they were older than he was;
5 Pero cuando vio que en la boca de los tres hombres ya no quedaba respuesta, montó en cólera.	5 but when he saw that the three men had not another word to say in answer, his anger burst out.
6 Tomó, pues, la palabra Elihú, hijo de Barakel el buzita, y dijo: Soy pequeño en edad, y vosotros sois viejos; por eso tenía miedo, me asustaba el declararos mi saber.	6 And Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite began to speak. He said: I am stil young, and you are old, so Iwas shy and hesitant to tel you what I know.
7 Me decía yo: «Hablará la edad, los muchos años enseñarán sabiduría.»	7 I thought, 'Age ought to speak, advancing years wil convey wisdom.'
8 Pero en verdad, es un soplo en el hombre, es el espíritu de Sadday lo que hace inteligente.	8 There is, you see, a spirit residing in humanity, the breath of God conferring intelligence.
9 No son sabios los que están llenos de años, ni los viejos quienes comprenden lo que es justo.	9 Great age does not give wisdom, nor seniority fair judgement.
10 Por eso he dicho: Escuchadme, voy a declarar también yo mi saber.	10 And so I ask you for a hearing; now it is my turn to tel what I know.
11 Hasta ahora vuestras razones esperaba, prestaba oído a vuestros argumentos; mientras tratabais de buscar vocablos,	11 Up to now, I was hanging on your words, I paid attention to your arguments as each of you chose hiswords.
12 tenía puesta en vosotros mi atención. Y veo que ninguno a Job da réplica, nadie de entre vosotros a sus dichos responde.	12 I paid very close attention; and I see that none of you has confounded Job, not one of you has refutedwhat he says.
13 No digáis, pues: «Hemos hallado la sabiduría; nos instruye Dios, no un hombre.»	13 So do not say, 'We have found wisdom; our teaching is divine and not human.'
14 No hilaré yo palabras como ésas, no le replicaré en vuestros términos.	14 I am not going to follow the same line of argument; my reply to Job wil be couched in different terms.
15 Han quedado vencidos, no han respondido más: les han faltado las palabras.	15 They are nonplussed for an answer, words have failed them.
16 He esperado, pero ya que no hablan, puesto que se han quedado sin respuesta,	16 I have been waiting. Since they do not speak, since they have given up the argument,
17 responderé yo por mi parte, declararé también yo mi saber.	17 now I shal have my say, my turn has come to say what I know.
18 Pues estoy lleno de palabras, me urge un soplo desde dentro.	18 For I am ful of words and forced to speak by a spirit within me;
19 Es, en mi seno, como vino sin escape, que hace reventar los odres nuevos.	19 within me, it feels like new wine seeking a vent, bursting out of new wine-skins.
20 Hablaré para desahogarme, abriré los labios y replicaré.	20 To gain relief, I must speak, I must open my lips and reply.
21 No tomaré el partido de ninguno, a nadie adularé.	21 I shall not take anyone's side, I shall not flatter anyone.
22 Pues yo no sé adular: bien pronto me aventaría mi Hacedor.	22 I do not know how to flatter -- or my Creator would make short work of me.
