1 Et ingressus perambulabat Iericho.	1 And having entered, he walked through Jericho.
2 Et ecce vir nomine Zacchaeus, ethic erat princeps publicanorum et ipse dives.	2 And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. And he was the leader of the tax collectors, and he was wealthy.
3 Et quaerebat videre Iesum, quisesset, et non poterat prae turba, quia statura pusillus erat.	3 And he sought to see Jesus, to see who he was. But he was unable to do so, because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.
4 Et praecurrensascendit in arborem sycomorum, ut videret illum, quia inde erat transiturus.	4 And running ahead, he climbed up a sycamore tree, so that he might see him. For he was to pass near there.
5 Et cum venisset ad locum, suspiciens Iesus dixit ad eum: “ Zacchaee, festinansdescende, nam hodie in domo tua oportet me manere ”.	5 And when he had arrived at the place, Jesus looked up and saw him, and he said to him: “Zacchaeus, hurry down. For today, I should lodge in your house.”
6 Et festinans descenditet excepit illum gaudens.	6 And hurrying, he came down, and he received him joyfully.
7 Et cum viderent, omnes murmurabant dicentes: “ Adhominem peccatorem divertit! ”.	7 And when they all saw this, they murmured, saying that he had turned aside to a sinful man.
8 Stans autem Zacchaeus dixit ad Dominum: “Ecce dimidium bonorum meorum, Domine, do pauperibus et, si quid aliquemdefraudavi, reddo quadruplum ”.	8 But Zacchaeus, standing still, said to the Lord: “Behold, Lord, one half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone in any matter, I will repay him fourfold.”
9 Ait autem Iesus ad eum: “ Hodie salusdomui huic facta est, eo quod et ipse filius sit Abrahae;	9 Jesus said to him: “Today, salvation has come to this house; because of this, he too is a son of Abraham.
10 venit enim Filiushominis quaerere et salvum facere, quod perierat ”.	10 For the Son of man has come to seek and to save what had been lost.”
11 Haec autem illis audientibus, adiciens dixit parabolam, eo quod esset propeIerusalem, et illi existimarent quod confestim regnum Dei manifestaretur.	11 As they were listening to these things, continuing on, he spoke a parable, because he was nearing Jerusalem, and because they guessed that the kingdom of God might be manifested without delay.
12 Dixit ergo: “ Homo quidam nobilis abiit in regionem longinquam accipere sibiregnum et reverti.	12 Therefore, he said: “A certain man of nobility traveled to a far away region, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 Vocatis autem decem servis suis, dedit illis decem minaset ait ad illos: “Negotiamini, dum venio”.	13 And calling his ten servants, he gave them ten pounds, and he said to them: ‘Do business until I return.’
14 Cives autem eius oderant illumet miserunt legationem post illum dicentes: “Nolumus hunc regnare super nos!”.	14 But his citizens hated him. And so they sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this one to reign over us.’
15 Et factum est ut rediret, accepto regno, et iussit ad se vocari servos illos,quibus dedit pecuniam, ut sciret quantum negotiati essent.	15 And it happened that he returned, having received the kingdom. And he ordered the servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called so that he would know how much each one had earned by doing business.
16 Venit autem primusdicens: “Domine, mina tua decem minas acquisivit”.	16 Now the first approached, saying: ‘Lord, your one pound has earned ten pounds.’
17 Et ait illi: “Euge,bone serve; quia in modico fidelis fuisti, esto potestatem habens supra decemcivitates”.	17 And he said to him: ‘Well done, good servant. Since you have been faithful in a small matter, you will hold authority over ten cities.’
18 Et alter venit dicens: “Mina tua, domine, fecit quinque minas”.	18 And the second came, saying: ‘Lord, your one pound has earned five pounds.’
19 Et huic ait: “Et tu esto supra quinque civitates”.	19 And he said to him, ‘And so, you shall be over five cities.’
20 Et alter venitdicens: “Domine, ecce mina tua, quam habui repositam in sudario;	20 And another approached, saying: ‘Lord, behold your one pound, which I kept stored in a cloth.
21 timui enimte, quia homo austerus es: tollis, quod non posuisti, et metis, quod nonseminasti”.	21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You take up what you did not lay down, and you reap what you did not sow.’
22 Dicit ei: “De ore tuo te iudico, serve nequam! Sciebas quodego austerus homo sum, tollens quod non posui et metens quod non seminavi?	22 He said to him: ‘By your own mouth, do I judge you, O wicked servant. You knew that I am an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow.
23 Etquare non dedisti pecuniam meam ad mensam? Et ego veniens cum usuris utiqueexegissem illud”.	23 And so, why did you not give my money to the bank, so that, upon my return, I might have withdrawn it with interest?’
24 Et adstantibus dixit: “Auferte ab illo minam et dateilli, qui decem minas habet”.	24 And he said to the bystanders, ‘Take the pound away from him, and give it to him who has ten pounds.’
25 Et dixerunt ei: “Domine, habet decem minas!”.	25 And they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten pounds.’
26 Dico vobis: “Omni habenti dabitur; ab eo autem, qui non habet, et, quodhabet, auferetur.	26 So then, I say to you, that to all who have, it shall be given, and he will have in abundance. And from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.
27 Verumtamen inimicos meos illos, qui noluerunt me regnaresuper se, adducite huc et interficite ante me! ”.	27 ‘Yet truly, as for those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here, and put them to death before me.’ ”
28 Et his dictis, praecedebat ascendens Hierosolymam.	28 And having said these things, he went ahead, ascending to Jerusalem.
29 Et factum est, cum appropinquasset ad Bethfage et Bethaniam, ad montem, quivocatur Oliveti, misit duos discipulos	29 And it happened that, when he had drawn near to Bethphage and Bethania, to the mount which is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
30 dicens: “ Ite in castellum, quodcontra est, in quod introeuntes invenietis pullum asinae alligatum, cui nemoumquam hominum sedit; solvite illum et adducite.	30 saying: “Go into the town which is opposite you. Upon entering it, you will find the colt of a donkey, tied, on which no man has ever sat. Untie it, and lead it here.
31 Et si quis vosinterrogaverit: “Quare solvitis?”, sic dicetis: “Dominus eum necessariumhabet” ”.	31 And if anyone will ask you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this to him: ‘Because the Lord has requested its service.’ ”
32 Abierunt autem, qui missi erant, et invenerunt, sicut dixitillis.	32 And those who were sent went out, and they found the colt standing, just as he told them.
33 Solventibus autem illis pullum, dixerunt domini eius ad illos: “Quid solvitis pullum? ”.	33 Then, as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 At illi dixerunt: “ Dominus eum necessariumhabet ”.	34 So they said, “Because the Lord has need of it.”
35 Et duxerunt illum ad Iesum; et iactantes vestimenta sua suprapullum, imposuerunt Iesum.	35 And they led it to Jesus. And casting their garments on the colt, they helped Jesus onto it.
36 Eunte autem illo, substernebant vestimenta sua invia.	36 Then, as he was traveling, they were laying down their garments along the way.
37 Et cum appropinquaret iam ad descensum montis Oliveti, coeperunt omnismultitudo discipulorum gaudentes laudare Deum voce magna super omnibus, quasviderant, virtutibus	37 And when he was now drawing near to the descent of Mount Olivet, the entire crowd of his disciples began to praise God joyfully, with a loud voice, over all the powerful works which they had seen,
38 dicentes: “ Benedictus, qui venit rex in nomine Domini! Pax in caelo, et gloria in excelsis! ”.	38 saying: “Blessed is the king who has arrived in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory on high!”
39 Et quidam pharisaeorum de turbis dixerunt ad illum: “ Magister, increpadiscipulos tuos! ”.	39 And certain Pharisees within the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”
40 Et respondens dixit: “ Dico vobis: Si hi tacuerint,lapides clamabunt! ”.	40 And he said to them, “I tell you, that if these will keep silent, the stones themselves will cry out.”
41 Et ut appropinquavit, videns civitatem flevit super illam	41 And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying:
42 dicens: “ Sicognovisses et tu in hac die, quae ad pacem tibi! Nunc autem abscondita sunt aboculis tuis.	42 “If only you had known, indeed even in this your day, which things are for your peace. But now they are hidden from your eyes.
43 Quia venient dies in te, et circumdabunt te inimici tui vallo etobsidebunt te et coangustabunt te undique	43 For the days will overtake you. And your enemies will encircle you with a valley. And they will surround you and hem you in on every side.
44 et ad terram prosternent te etfilios tuos, qui in te sunt, et non relinquent in te lapidem super lapidem, eoquod non cognoveris tempus visitationis tuae ”.	44 And they will knock you down to the ground, with your sons who are in you. And they will not leave stone upon stone within you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
45 Et ingressus in templum, coepit eicere vendentes	45 And entering into the temple, he began to cast out those who sold in it, and those who bought,
46 dicens illis: “Scriptum est: “Et erit domus mea domus orationis”. Vos autem fecistis illamspeluncam latronum ”.	46 saying to them: “It is written: ‘My house is a house of prayer.’ But you have made it into a den of robbers.”
47 Et erat docens cotidie in templo. Principes autem sacerdotum et scribae etprincipes plebis quaerebant illum perdere	47 And he was teaching in the temple daily. And the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, and the leaders of the people were seeking to destroy him.
48 et non inveniebant quid facerent;omnis enim populus suspensus erat audiens illum.	48 But they could not find what to do to him. For all the people were listening to him attentively.
