Isaia 48

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Audite hoc, domus Iacob, qui vocamini nomine Israel et de aquis Iudae existis, qui iuratis in nomine Domini et Deum Israel invocatis non in veritate neque in iustitia.	1 Listen to this, House of Jacob, you who are cal ed by the name of Israel and issued from the waters ofJudah, who swear by the name of Yahweh and invoke the God of Israel, though not in good faith or uprightness;
2 De civitate enim sancta vocati sunt et super Deum Israel constabiliti sunt; Dominus exercituum nomen eius.	2 for they cal themselves after the holy city and rely on the God of Israel, Yahweh Sabaoth is his name.
3 Priora ex tunc annuntiavi, et ex ore meo exierunt, et audita feci ea; repente operatus sum, et venerunt.	3 Things now past I revealed long ago, they issued from my mouth, I proclaimed them; suddenly I actedand they happened.
4 Scivi enim quia durus es tu, et nervus ferreus cervix tua, et frons tua aerea.	4 For I knew you to be obstinate, your neck an iron sinew and your forehead bronze.
5 Praedixi tibi ex tunc; antequam venirent, indicavi tibi, ne forte diceres: “Idolum meum operatum est haec, et sculptile meum et conflatile mandaverunt ista ”.	5 As I told you about it long before, before it happened I revealed it to you, so that you could not say, 'Mystatue did it, my idol, my metal image, ordained this.'
6 Quae audisti, vide omnia; vos autem num annuntiabitis? Audita facio tibi nova ex nunc et occulta, quae nescis.	6 You have heard and seen all this, why won't you admit it? Now I am going to reveal new things to you,secrets that you do not know;
7 Nunc creata sunt et non ex tunc, et ante eorum diem, et non audisti ea, ne forte diceres: “Ecce ego cognovi ea ”.	7 they have just been created, not long ago, and until today you have heard nothing about them, so thatyou cannot say, 'Yes, I knew about this.'
8 Neque audisti neque cognovisti, neque ex tunc aperta est auris tua; scio enim quia praevaricans praevaricaris et transgressor ex utero vocaris.	8 No, you have not heard, you have not known, for a long time your ear has not been attentive, for I knewhow treacherous you were; you have been called a rebel since the womb.
9 Propter nomen meum longe faciam furorem meum et propter laudem meam infrenabo me super te, ne perdam te.	9 For the sake of my name I shall defer my anger, for the sake of my honour I shall be patient with you,rather than destroy you.
10 Ecce excoxi te, sed non quasi argentum; probavi te in camino paupertatis.	10 Look, I have purchased you, but not for silver, I have chosen you out of the cauldron of affliction.
11 Propter me, propter me faciam, ut non blasphemer; et gloriam meam alteri non dabo.	11 For my sake and my sake only shal I act, for why should my name be profaned? I wil not yield myglory to another.
12 Audi me, Iacob, et Israel, quem ego vocavi; ego, ego primus et ego novissimus.	12 Listen to me, Jacob, Israel whom I have cal ed: I, and none else, am the first, I am also the last.
13 Manus mea fundavit terram, et dextera mea expandit caelos; ego voco eos, et stant simul.	13 My hand laid the foundations of earth and my right hand spread out the heavens. I summon them andthey al present themselves together.
14 Congregamini, omnes vos, et audite: Quis de eis annuntiavit haec? Dominus dilexit eum; faciet voluntatem suam in Babylone et brachium suum in Chaldaeis.	14 Assemble, al of you, and listen; which of them has revealed this? Yahweh loves him; he will do hispleasure on Babylon and the race of the Chaldaeans;
15 Ego, ego locutus sum et vocavi eum; adduxi eum, et prospera fuit via eius.	15 I, I have spoken, yes, I have summoned him, I have brought him, and he will succeed.
16 Accedite ad me et audite hoc: Non a principio in abscondito locutus sum; ex tempore, antequam fieret, ibi eram; et nunc Dominus Deus misit me cum spiritu suo.	16 Come near and listen to this: from the first, I never spoke obscurely; when it happened, I was there,and now Lord Yahweh has sent me with his spirit.
17 Haec dicit Dominus, redemptor tuus, Sanctus Israel: Ego Dominus Deus tuus docens te utilia, gubernans te in via, qua ambulas.	17 Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am Yahweh your God and teach you foryour own good, I lead you in the way you ought to go.
18 Utinam attendisses mandata mea! Facta fuisset sicut flumen pax tua, et iustitia tua sicut gurgites maris;	18 If only you had listened to my commandments! Your prosperity would have been like a river and yoursaving justice like the waves of the sea.
19 et fuisset quasi arena semen tuum, et stirps uteri tui ut lapilli eius; non interisset et non fuisset attritum nomen eius a facie mea.	19 Your descendants would have been numbered like the sand, your offspring as many as its grains.Their name would never be cancel ed or blotted out from my presence.
20 Egredimini de Babylone, fugite a Chaldaeis, in voce exsultationis annuntiate; auditum facite hoc, efferte illud usque ad extrema terrae, dicite: “ Redemit Dominus servum suum Iacob ”.	20 Come out from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldaeans! Declare this with cries of joy, proclaim it, carry itto the remotest parts of earth, say, 'Yahweh has redeemed his servant Jacob.'
21 Non sitierunt, cum per desertum duceret eos; aquam de petra produxit eis et scidit petram, et fluxerunt aquae.	21 Those he led through the arid country never went thirsty; he made water flow for them from the rock,he split the rock and out streamed the water.
22 Non est pax impiis, dicit Dominus.	22 There is no peace, says Yahweh, for the wicked.
