Lettera ai Romani 10

1 Fratelli, il desiderio del mio cuore, e l'orazione, che io fo a Dio, è per la loro salvezza.	1 Brothers, my dearest wish and my prayer to God is for them, that they may be saved.
2 Imperocché io fo loro fede, che hanno zelo di Dio, ma non secondo la scienza.	2 I readily testify to their fervour for God, but it is misguided.
3 Imperocché non conoscendo la giustizia di Dio, e cercando di stabilire la propria, non si sono soggettati alla giustizia di Dio.	3 Not recognising God's saving justice they have tried to establish their own, instead of submitting tothe saving justice of God.
4 Imperocché il termine della legge è Cristo per dar la giustizia a tutti coloro, che credono.	4 But the Law has found its fulfilment in Christ so that al who have faith wil be justified.
5 Imperocché Mosé scrìsse, che l'uomo, il quale avrà adempiuta la giustizia, che vien dalla legge, per essa viverà.	5 Moses writes of the saving justice that comes by the Law and says that whoever complies with it wilfind life in it.
6 Ma la giustizia, che vien dalla fede, dice cosi: Non istare a dire in cuor tuo: chi salirà in cielo? Viene a dire per farne scendere il Cristo:	6 But the saving justice of faith says this: Do not think in your heart, 'Who wil go up to heaven?' --
7 O chi scenderà nell'abisso? Viene a dire per risuscitare il Cristo da morte.	7 that is to bring Christ down; or 'Who wil go down to the depths?' -- that is to bring Christ back fromthe dead.
8 Ma che dice la scrittura? Tu hai presso di te la parola nella tua bocca, e nel cuor tuo: questa è la parola della fede, che noi predichiamo.	8 What does it say, then? The word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, theword of faith, the faith which we preach,
9 Perché se con la tua bocca confesserai il Signore Gesù, e crederai in cuor tuo, che Dio lo ha risuscitato da morte, e sarai salvo.	9 that if you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe with your heart that Godraised him from the dead, then you wil be saved.
10 Imperocché col cuore si crede a giustizia: e con la bocca si fa confessione a salute.	10 It is by believing with the heart that you are justified, and by making the declaration with your lipsthat you are saved.
11 Imperocché dice la scrittura: Chiunque in lui crede, non sarà confuso.	11 When scripture says: No one who relies on this wil be brought to disgrace,
12 Imperocché non vi ha distinzione di Giudeo, o di Greco: Conciossiachè lo stesso è il Signore di tutti, ricco per tutti coloro, che lo invocano.	12 it makes no distinction between Jew and Greek: the same Lord is the Lord of all, and his generosityis offered to al who appeal to him,
13 Conciossiachè chiunque invocherà il nome del Signore, sarà salvo.	13 for al who cal on the name of the Lord wil be saved.
14 Ma come invocheranno uno, in cui non hanno creduto? E come crederanno in uno, di cui non hanno sentito parlare? Come poi ne sentiranno parlare senza chi predichi?	14 How then are they to call on him if they have not come to believe in him? And how can they believein him if they have never heard of him? And how wil they hear of him unless there is a preacher for them?
15 Come poi predicheranno, se non sono mandati? Come sta scritto: Quanto sono belli i piedi di coloro, che evangelizzano novella della pace, che evangelizzano novella di felicità!	15 And how wil there be preachers if they are not sent? As scripture says: How beautiful are the feet ofthe messenger of good news.
16 Ma non tutti ubbidiscono all'Evangelio. Mentre Isaia dice: Signore, chi ha creduto quello, che ha sentito da noi?	16 But in fact they have not all responded to the good news. As Isaiah says: Lord, who has givencredence to what they have heard from us?
17 La fede adunque dall'udito, l'udito poi per la parola di Cristo.	17 But it is in that way faith comes, from hearing, and that means hearing the word of Christ.
18 Ma, dico io: forse che non hanno sentito? Anzi per tutta la terra si è sparso il suono di essi, e le loro parole fino alle estremità della terra.	18 Wel then, I say, is it possible that they have not heard? Indeed they have: in the entire earth theirvoice stands out, their message reaches the whole world.
19 Ma, dico io: forse Israele non ne seppe nulla? Mosè è il primo a dire: Vi metterò a picca con una nazione che non è nazione: con una nazione stolta vi muoverò a sdegno.	19 Wel , another question, then: is it possible that Israel did not understand? In the first place Mosessaid: I shal rouse you to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate you with a stupid nation.
20 Isaia poi più francamente dice: Mi hanno trovato coloro, che non mi cercavano: mi sono fatto pubblicamente vedere a coloro, che non domandavano di me.	20 And Isaiah is even bold enough to say: I have let myself be found by those who did not seek me; Ihave let myself be seen by those who did not consult me;
21 Ad Israele poi dice: Tutto il dì stesi le mani mie al popolo incredulo, e contraddittore.	21 and referring to Israel, he says: Al day long I have been stretching out my hands to a disobedientand rebel ious people.
