Seconda lettera a Timoteo 4

1 Ti scongiuro davanti a Dio e a Gesù Cristo, che ha da venire a giudicare i vivi e i morti, per la sua venuta e per il suo regno:	1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who willjudge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingly power:
2 predica la parola, insisti a tempo opportuno ed anche non opportuno, riprendi, esorta, sgrida con tutta la pazienza e la dottrina;	2 proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching.
3 perchè verrà tempo in cui la gente non potrà sopportare la sana dottrina, ma per assecondare le proprie passioni e per prurito di sentire, si creerà una folla di maestri	3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers
4 ma non vorranno ascoltare la verità e andran dietro a favole.	4 and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths.
5 Ma tu veglia sopra tute te le cose, sopporta le afflizioni; fai opera d'evangelista, ad empi i doveri del tuo ministero: sii temperante.	5 But you, be self-possessed in all circumstances; put up with hardship; perform the work of an evangelist; fulfill your ministry.
6 In quanto a me son già offerto in libazione e il tempo del mio discioglimento è vicino.	6 For I am already being poured out like a libation, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 Ho combattuto la buona battaglia, son giunto al termine della mia corsa, ho conservato la fede	7 I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.
8 e non mi resta che ricevere la corona di giustizia, che mi darà in quel giorno il Signore, giusto giudice, e non solo a me, ma anche a quelli che desiderano la sua venuta. Cerca di venir presto da me;	8 From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance.
9 perchè Dema mi ha abbandonato per amor di questo mondo e se n'è andato a Tessalonica.	9 Try to join me soon,
10 Crescente è andato in Galazia, Tito in Dalmazia.	10 for Demas, enamored of the present world, deserted me and went to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.
11 Luca solo è con me. Prendi Marco e conducilo teco perchè mi è molto utile pel ministero.	11 Luke is the only one with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is helpful to me in the ministry.
12 Tichico l'ho mandato ad Efeso.	12 I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
13 Quando verrai portami il mantello che lasciai a Troade in casa di Carpo; e portami anche i libri, specialmente le pergamene.	13 When you come, bring the cloak I left with Carpus in Troas, the papyrus rolls, and especially the parchments.
14 Alessandro il ramaio, mi ha fatto molti mali: lo ricompenserà il Signore secondo le sue opere.	14 Alexander the coppersmith did me a great deal of harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.
15 Ma anche tu guardatene perchè si è fortemente opposto alle nostre parole.	15 You too be on guard against him, for he has strongly resisted our preaching.
16 Nella mia prima difesa nessuno fu per me; ma tutti mi abbandonarono. Non sia loro imputato!	16 At my first defense no one appeared on my behalf, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them!
17 Ma il Signore m'ha assistito e mi ha confortato, affinchè per opera mia si compia la predicazione e l'odano tutte le Genti, e sono stato liberato « dalla bocca del Leone ».	17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the proclamation might be completed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was rescued from the lion's mouth.
18 Il Signore mi libererà da ogni male e mi salverà nel suo celeste regno. A lui gloria nei secoli dei secoli. Così sia.	18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil threat and will bring me safe to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.
