Seconda lettera a Timoteo 4

1 Ti scongiuro davanti a Dio e a Gesù Cristo, che ha da venire a giudicare i vivi e i morti, per la sua venuta e per il suo regno:	1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 predica la parola, insisti a tempo opportuno ed anche non opportuno, riprendi, esorta, sgrida con tutta la pazienza e la dottrina;	2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 perchè verrà tempo in cui la gente non potrà sopportare la sana dottrina, ma per assecondare le proprie passioni e per prurito di sentire, si creerà una folla di maestri	3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 ma non vorranno ascoltare la verità e andran dietro a favole.	4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 Ma tu veglia sopra tute te le cose, sopporta le afflizioni; fai opera d'evangelista, ad empi i doveri del tuo ministero: sii temperante.	5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 In quanto a me son già offerto in libazione e il tempo del mio discioglimento è vicino.	6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 Ho combattuto la buona battaglia, son giunto al termine della mia corsa, ho conservato la fede	7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 e non mi resta che ricevere la corona di giustizia, che mi darà in quel giorno il Signore, giusto giudice, e non solo a me, ma anche a quelli che desiderano la sua venuta. Cerca di venir presto da me;	8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
9 perchè Dema mi ha abbandonato per amor di questo mondo e se n'è andato a Tessalonica.	9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
10 Crescente è andato in Galazia, Tito in Dalmazia.	10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
11 Luca solo è con me. Prendi Marco e conducilo teco perchè mi è molto utile pel ministero.	11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12 Tichico l'ho mandato ad Efeso.	12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
13 Quando verrai portami il mantello che lasciai a Troade in casa di Carpo; e portami anche i libri, specialmente le pergamene.	13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
14 Alessandro il ramaio, mi ha fatto molti mali: lo ricompenserà il Signore secondo le sue opere.	14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
15 Ma anche tu guardatene perchè si è fortemente opposto alle nostre parole.	15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16 Nella mia prima difesa nessuno fu per me; ma tutti mi abbandonarono. Non sia loro imputato!	16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 Ma il Signore m'ha assistito e mi ha confortato, affinchè per opera mia si compia la predicazione e l'odano tutte le Genti, e sono stato liberato « dalla bocca del Leone ».	17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 Il Signore mi libererà da ogni male e mi salverà nel suo celeste regno. A lui gloria nei secoli dei secoli. Così sia.	18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 Saluta Prisca e Aquila e la casa di Onesiforo.	19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20 Erasto rimase a Corinto. Trofimo lo lasciai malato a Mileto.	20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
21 Affrettati per venire da me prima dell'inverno. Ti salutano Eubulo e Pudente e Lino e Claudia e tutti i fratelli.	21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
22 Il Signore Gesù Cristo sia col tuo spirito. La grazia sia con voi. Così sia.	22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
