Seconda lettera a Timoteo 4

1 Ti scongiuro davanti a Dio e a Gesù Cristo, che ha da venire a giudicare i vivi e i morti, per la sua venuta e per il suo regno:	1 I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom:
2 predica la parola, insisti a tempo opportuno ed anche non opportuno, riprendi, esorta, sgrida con tutta la pazienza e la dottrina;	2 Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine.
3 perchè verrà tempo in cui la gente non potrà sopportare la sana dottrina, ma per assecondare le proprie passioni e per prurito di sentire, si creerà una folla di maestri	3 For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears:
4 ma non vorranno ascoltare la verità e andran dietro a favole.	4 And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables.
5 Ma tu veglia sopra tute te le cose, sopporta le afflizioni; fai opera d'evangelista, ad empi i doveri del tuo ministero: sii temperante.	5 But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry. Be sober.
6 In quanto a me son già offerto in libazione e il tempo del mio discioglimento è vicino.	6 For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand.
7 Ho combattuto la buona battaglia, son giunto al termine della mia corsa, ho conservato la fede	7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
8 e non mi resta che ricevere la corona di giustizia, che mi darà in quel giorno il Signore, giusto giudice, e non solo a me, ma anche a quelli che desiderano la sua venuta. Cerca di venir presto da me;	8 As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming. Make haste to come to me quickly.
9 perchè Dema mi ha abbandonato per amor di questo mondo e se n'è andato a Tessalonica.	9 For Demas hath left me, loving this world, and is gone to Thessalonica:
10 Crescente è andato in Galazia, Tito in Dalmazia.	10 Crescens into Galatia, Titus into Dalmatia.
11 Luca solo è con me. Prendi Marco e conducilo teco perchè mi è molto utile pel ministero.	11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12 Tichico l'ho mandato ad Efeso.	12 But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus.
13 Quando verrai portami il mantello che lasciai a Troade in casa di Carpo; e portami anche i libri, specialmente le pergamene.	13 The cloak that I left at Troas, with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, especially the parchments.
14 Alessandro il ramaio, mi ha fatto molti mali: lo ricompenserà il Signore secondo le sue opere.	14 Alexander the coppersmith hath done me much evil: the Lord will reward him according to his works:
15 Ma anche tu guardatene perchè si è fortemente opposto alle nostre parole.	15 Whom do thou also avoid, for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16 Nella mia prima difesa nessuno fu per me; ma tutti mi abbandonarono. Non sia loro imputato!	16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their charge.
17 Ma il Signore m'ha assistito e mi ha confortato, affinchè per opera mia si compia la predicazione e l'odano tutte le Genti, e sono stato liberato « dalla bocca del Leone ».	17 But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching may be accomplished, and that all the Gentiles may hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 Il Signore mi libererà da ogni male e mi salverà nel suo celeste regno. A lui gloria nei secoli dei secoli. Così sia.	18 The Lord hath delivered me from every evil work: and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 Saluta Prisca e Aquila e la casa di Onesiforo.	19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20 Erasto rimase a Corinto. Trofimo lo lasciai malato a Mileto.	20 Erastus remained at Corinth. And Trophimus I left sick at Miletus.
21 Affrettati per venire da me prima dell'inverno. Ti salutano Eubulo e Pudente e Lino e Claudia e tutti i fratelli.	21 Make haste to come before winter Eubulus and Pudens, and Linus and Claudia, and all the brethren, salute thee.
22 Il Signore Gesù Cristo sia col tuo spirito. La grazia sia con voi. Così sia.	22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
