1 Sparso che fu il sangue dei colpevoli, il Signore disse a Mosè e ad Eleazaro, sommo sacerdote, figlio di Aronne:	1 After this plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to the priest Eleazar son of Aaron and said:
2 « Fate il censimento dei figli d'Israele dai vent'anni in su, di tutti gli atti alle armi, secondo le loro case e le loro famiglie ».	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, by families: al those of twenty years and over, fitto bear arms in Israel.'

9 Questi sono quel Datan e quell'Abiron, principi dei popolo, che si sollevarono contro Mosè ed Aronne nella sedizione di Core, quando si ribellarono contro il Signore,	9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These two, Dathan and Abiram, men of repute in thecommunity, were the ones who revolted against Moses and Aaron; they belonged to Korah's group when itrevolted against Yahweh.
10 quando la terra, aperta la sua bocca, inghiottì Core, e perirono moltissimi: quando il fuoco divorò duecentocinquanta uomini, e avvenne il gran prodigio	10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (with Korah when that group perished), when fireconsumed the two hundred and fifty men. They were a sign.
11 e nella rovina di Core non perissero i suoi figli.	11 Korah's sons, however, did not perish.

50 Tali sono i discendenti di Nettali, secondo le loro famiglie, che dotterò quarantacinque mila quattrocento uomini.	50 These were the clans of Naphtali as divided into clans. The sons of Naphtali numbered forty-fivethousand four hundred men.
51 Ecco il totale dei figli d'Israele che furono contati: seicento mila settecentotrenta uomini.	51 Of the Israelites thus numbered, there were six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirtymen.
52 E il Signore parlò a Mose, dicendo:	52 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
53 « Il paese sarà diviso tra questi, e diverrà loro proprietà secondo il numero dei nomi.	53 'The country must be shared out among these as a heritage, proportionately to the number of thoseinscribed.
54 Darai una parte piti vasta a quelli che sono in maggior numero; una più piccola a quei che sono in minor numero: a ciascuno sarà data la sua porzione secondo il censimento che ora è stato fatto ».	54 To the large in number you wil give a large area of land, to the smal in number a small area; toeach the heritage wil be in proportion to the number registered.
55 Ma la terra sarà divisa a sorte fra le tribù e le famiglie,	55 The sharing out of the country must, however, be done by lot. Each wil receive a heritageproportionate to the number of names in their patriarchal tribes;
56 che riceveranno ciò che porterà la sorte, tirata tra quelli che sono in maggior numero e quelli che sono in numero minore ».	56 the heritage of each tribe wil be shared out by lot, depending on its larger or smal er numbers.'
57 Ecco ora il numero dei figli di Levi secondo le loro famiglie: Gerson, da cui la famiglia dei Gersoniti; Caat, da cui la famiglia dei Caatiti; Merari, da cui la famiglia dei Merariti.	57 These, by clans, are the Levites that were registered: for Gershon, the Gershonite clan; for Kohath,the Kohathite clan; for Merari, the Merarite clan.
58 Ecco le famiglie di Levi: la famiglia di Lobni, la famiglia di Hebroni, la famiglia di Moholi, la famiglia di Musi, la famiglia di Core. 59 Che ebbe per moglie Iochabed, figlia di Levi, la quale nacque a Levi in Egitto, e ì partorì ad Amram, suo marito, Aronne, Mosè e Maria loro sorella.	59 Amram's wife was cal ed Jokebed daughter of Levi, born to him in Egypt. To Amram she boreAaron, Moses and Miriam their sister.
60 Da Aronne nacquero Nadab, Abiu, Eleazaro e Itamar,	60 Aaron fathered Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61 dei quali Nadab e Abiu morirono quando offersero fuoco profano davanti al Signore.	61 Nadab and Abihu died when they brought unauthorised fire before Yahweh.
62 Il totale dei contati fu di ventitré mila maschi da un mese in su: non furono compresi nel censimento dei figli d'Israele, nè fu loro dato alcun possesso cogli altri.	62 Altogether twenty-three thousand males of one month and over were registered. They were notregistered with the Israelites, since they were given no heritage with the Israelites.
63 Questo è il numero dei figli d'Israele che furono contati da Mosè e da Eleazaro sacerdote, nei piani di Moab, lungo il Giordano, dirimpetto a Gerico.	63 Such were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar who took a census of the Israeliteson the Plains of Moab near the Jordan by Jericho.

65 perchè il Signore aveva predetto che tutti sarebbero morti nel deserto. Non ne rimase che Caleb figlio di Iefone e Giosuè figlio di Nun.	65 for Yahweh had told them that these were to die in the desert and that none of them would be leftexcept Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
