Ezechiele 26

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Nell'anno undecimo, il primo giorno del mese, la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:	1 On the first day of the. . . month in the eleventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:
2 « Figlio dell'uomo, perchè Tiro ha detto riguardo a Gerusalemme: « Bene! Bene! sono spezzate te porte dei popoli: (tutti) verranno a me: io mi riempirò ed essa è un deserto »,	2 Son of man, because of what Tyre said of Jerusalem: "Aha! it is broken, the gateway to the peoples; now that it is ruined, its wealth reverts to me!"
3 per questo cosi parla il Signore Dio: Ecco che io vengo contro di te, o Tiro, e farò salire contro di te molte nazioni come i flutti del mare in tempesta.	3 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at you, Tyre; I will churn up against you many nations, even as the sea churns up its waves;
4 E abbatteranno te mura di Tiro, distruggeranno le sue torri, ed io spazzerò via da lei anche la polvere, e la ridurrò a nudo scoglio.	4 They shall destroy the walls of Tyre and raze her towers. I will scrape the ground from her and leave her a bare rock;
5 Essa sarà in mezzo al mare un luogo per asciugarvi le reti, perchè io ho parlato — dice il Signore Dio — e sarà preda delle nazioni.	5 She shall be a drying place for nets in the midst of the sea. I have spoken, says the Lord GOD: and she shall be booty for the nations.
6 Ed anche le sue figlie che sono nella campagna cadran sotto la spada, e sapranno che io sono il Signore.	6 And her daughters on the mainland shall be slaughtered by the sword; thus they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 Ecco infatti quanto dice il Signore: Ecco io dal settentrione condurrò contro Tiro Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia, il re dei re, con cavalli e cocchi e cavaieri, con moltitudine, con popolo numeroso.	7 For thus says the Lord GOD: I am now bringing up against Tyre from the north Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the king of kings, with horses and chariots, with cavalry and a great and mighty army.
8 Egli ucciderà colla spada le tue figlie che son nella campagna, ti circonderà di fortezze ed eleverà intorno a te dei terrapieni e alzerà contro te lo scudo.	8 Your daughters on the mainland he shall slay with the sword; He shall place a siege tower against you, cast up a ramp about you, and raise his shields against you.
9 E disporrà le vigne e gli arieti contro le tue mura, e distruggerà le tue torri colle sue macchine da guerra.	9 He shall pound your walls with battering-rams and break down your towers with his weapons.
10 T'inonderà coi suoi cavalli, la lor polvere ti coprirà: al rumore dei cavalieri, delle ruote e dei cocchi tremeranno le tue mura, e quando egli entrerà per le tue porte, entrerà come in una città distrutta.	10 The surge of his horses shall cover you with dust, amid the noise of steeds, of wheels and of chariots. Your walls shall shake as he enters your gates, even as one enters a city that is breached.
11 Dall'unghie dei suoi cavalli farà calpestare tutte le tue piazze: il tuo popolo cadrà sotto la spada e le tue famose statue andran per terra.	11 With the hoofs of his horses he shall trample all your streets; Your people he shall slay by the sword; your mighty pillars he shall pull to the ground.
12 Rapiranno le tue ricchezze, saccheggeranno i tuoi negozi, abbatteranno i tuoi muri, distruggeranno i tuoi bei palazzi, e getteranno in mezzo alle acque le tue pietre, i tuoi legni, la tua polvere.	12 Your wealth shall be plundered, your merchandise pillaged; Your walls shall be torn down, your precious houses demolished; Your stones, your timber, and your clay shall be cast into the sea.
13 E farò cessare la moltitudine dei tuoi canti, e non sarà più sentito il suono delle tue cetre	13 I will put an end to the noise of your songs, and the sound of your lyres shall be heard no more.
14 e farò di te uno scoglio nudo, un luogo per asciugarvi le roti; non sarai più riedificata, perchè io, il Signore, ho parlato — dice il Signore Dio.	14 I will make you a bare rock; a drying place for nets shall you be. Never shall you be rebuilt, for I have spoken, says the Lord GOD.
15 Ecco quanto dice il Signore Dio a Tiro: Al fracasso della tua rovina, al gemito dei tuoi uccisi, nella strage che ne sarà fatta dentro di te, non tremeranno le isole?	15 Thus says the Lord GOD to Tyre: At the noise of your fall, at the groaning of the wounded, when the sword slays in your midst, shall not the isles quake?
16 E scenderanno dai loro troni tutti i principi del mare, si toglieranno i loro manti, e porranno le loro vesti variopinte, e saran coperti di stupore, sederanno per terra, attoniti per la tua repentina caduta, pieni di maraviglia.	16 All the princes of the sea shall step down from their thrones, lay aside their robes, and strip off their embroidered garments. They shall be clothed in mourning and, sitting on the ground, they shall tremble at every moment and be horrified at you.
17 E pronunziando sopra te il lamento ti diranno: « Come sei caduta, abitatrice del mare, o inclita città che fosti potente in mare, tu e i tuoi abitanti di cui tutti avevan paura? »	17 Then they shall utter a lament over you: How have you perished, gone from the seas, city most prized! Once she was mighty on the sea, she and her dwellers, Who spread terror into all that dwelt by the sea.
18 Si stupiranno le navi nel giorno del tuo spavento, e le isole del maro, saran turbate, perchè nessuno esce più da te.	18 On this, the day of your fall, the islands quake! The isles in the sea are terrified at your passing.
19 Ecco infatti quanto dice il Signore Dio: Quando io avrò fatto di te una città desolata, come le città che non ban più abitanti, e avrò fatto salire sopra di te l'abisso, e ti avran coperta le immense acquo,	19 For thus says the Lord GOD: When I make you a city desolate like cities that are no longer inhabited, when I churn up the abyss against you, and its mighty waters cover you,
20 e ti avrò fatto scendere con quelli che scendon nella fossa, al popolo dell'eternità, e ti avrò posta nel più profondo della terra, come le antiche solitudini, con quelli che discendon nella fossa, in modo che tu non sia abitata, quando renderò la gloria alla terra dei viventi,	20 then I will thrust you down with those who descend into the pit, those of the bygone age; and I will make you dwell in the nether lands, in the everlasting ruins, with those who go down to the pit, so that you may never return to take your place in the land of the living.
21 io ti ridurrò al niente, tu non sarai più, ed anche cercata non sarai più trovata in eterno — dice il Signore Dio ».	21 I will make you a devastation, and you shall be no more; you shall be sought, but never again found, says the Lord GOD.
