Ezechiele 14

1 E vennero da me alcuni degli anziani d'Israele e si posero a sedere dinanzi a me.	1 When certain elders of Israel came and sat down before me,
2 Allora il Signore mi parlò e mi disse:	2 the word of the LORD came to me:
3 « Figlio dell'uomo, questi uomini portano nel loro cuore le loro immondezze, e tengono dinanzi alla loro faccia lo scandalo della loro iniquità. E potrò io rispondere se m'interrogano?	3 Son of man, these men have the memory of their idols fresh in their hearts, and they keep the occasion of their sin before them. Why should I allow myself to be consulted by them?
4 Per questo parla loro e di' loro: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: All'uomo, chiunque sia, della casa d'Israele, che, portando le sue immondezze nel suo cuore e tenendo lo scandalo delle sue iniquità dinanzi alla sua faccia, verrà dal profeta, per interrogare me per mezzo di lui, io, il Signore, risponderò a lui secondo la moltitudidine delle sue immondezze,	4 Therefore speak with them, and say to them: Thus says the Lord GOD: If anyone of the house of Israel, holding the memory of his idols in his heart and keeping the occasion of his sin before him, has recourse to a prophet, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person because of his many idols.
5 in modo che la casa d'Israele sia tpresa dal suo cuore, col quale si allontanarono da me per tutti li loro idoli.	5 Thus would I bring back to their senses the house of Israel, who have become estranged from me through all their idols.
6 Per questo, di' alla casa d'Israele: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Convertitevi, allontanatevi dai vostri idoli, rivolgete la faccia da tutte le vomstre immondezze.	6 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord GOD: Return and be converted from your idols; turn yourselves away from all your abominations.
7 Perchè all'uomo, chiunque sia, della casa d'Israele, o dei proseliti stranieri che sono in Israele, che si sarà allontanato da me e porterà idoli nel suo cuore, e terrà dinanzi alla propria faccia lo scandalo delle sue iniquità, se verrà dal profeta a interrogar me per mezzo di lui, io, il Signore, gli risponderò da me stesso.	7 For if anyone of the house of Israel or any alien resident in Israel is estranged from me, and holds the memory of his idols in his heart and keeps the occasion of his sin before him, yet asks a prophet to consult me for him, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person.
8 E volgerò contro di lui la mia faccia, ne farò un esempio, un proverbio, e lo sterminerò di mezzo al mio popolo; e voi saprete che io sono il Signore.	8 I will turn against that man, and make of him an example and a byword. I will cut him off from the midst of my people. Thus you shall know that I am the LORD.
9 E se il profeta darà nell'errore dicendo delle parole, io, il Signore, ho ingannato quel profeta, stenderò sopra di lui la mia mano, e lo sterminerò di mezzo al mio popolo d'Israele.	9 As for the prophet, if he is beguiled into speaking a word, I, the LORD, shall have beguiled that prophet; I will stretch out my hand against him and root him out of my people Israel.
10 Ed essi porteranno la loro iniquità, come l'iniquità di colui che interroga, tale sarà l'iniquità del profeta.	10 Each shall receive punishment for his sin, the inquirer and the prophet shall be punished alike,
11 E così non andrà più errando lungi da me la casa d'Israele, non si contaminerà in tutte le sue prevaricazioni, e saranno il mio popolo, ed io il loro Dio — dice il Signore degli eserciti ».	11 so that the house of Israel may no longer stray from me and may no longer be defiled by all their sins. Thus they shall be my people, and I will be their God, says the Lord GOD.
12 E il Signore mi parlò e mi disse:	12 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:
13 « Figlio dell'uomo, quando una terra avrà peccato contro di me, moltiplicando le prevaricazioni, io stenderò sopra di lei la mia mano, e toglierò il sostentamento del pane, e le invierò la fame, e farò morire in essa gli uomini e i giumenti,	13 Son of man, when a land sins against me by breaking faith, I stretch out my hand against it and break its staff of bread, I let famine loose upon it and cut off from it both man and beast;
14 e se ci fossero in essa questi tre uomini, Noè, Daniele e Giobbe, essi con la loro giustizia salverebbero le loro anime — dice il Signore degli eserciti. —	14 and even if these three men were in it, Noah, Daniel, and Job, they could save only themselves by their virtue, says the Lord GOD.
15 Se io manderò sulla terra delle bestie crudeli, perchè la devastino e la rendano impraticabile, in modo che nessuno ci passi a causa delle bestie,	15 If I were to cause wild beasts to prowl the land, depopulating it so that it became a waste, traversed by none because of the wild beasts,
16 se ci fossero in essa questi tre uomini, io vivo — dice il Signore Dio — non salveranno nè figli nè figlie; essi soli saran liberati, e la terra sarà desolata.	16 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear they could save neither sons nor daughters; they alone would be saved, and the land would be a waste.
17 E se contro quella terra manderò la spada, o dirò alla spada: « Passa per quella terra » e sterminerò da essa uomini e giumenti,	17 Or if I brought the sword upon this country, commanding the sword to pass through the land cutting off from it man and beast,
18 e in essa si trovassero questi tre uomini, io vivo — dice il Signore Dio — non salveranno nè figli nè figlie, ma essi soli saranno liberati.	18 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, they would be unable to save either sons or daughters; they alone would be saved.
19 E se io manderò in quella terra la peste, e spanderò sopra di lei il mio sdegno col sangue, da sterminare da lei uomini e bestie,	19 Or if I were to send pestilence into this land, pouring out upon it my bloodthirsty fury, cutting off from it man and beast,
20 Noè, Daniele e Giobbe fossero in essa, io vivo — dice il Signore Dio — essi non salveranno nè figli nè figlie, ma salveranno le loro anime colla loro giustizia.	20 even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear that they could save neither son nor daughter; they would save only themselves by their virtue.
21 Or ecco quanto dice il Signore Dio: Anche quando avrò mandato contro Gerusalemme i miei quattro peggiori castighi: la spada, la fame, le bestie feroci, la peste, da sterminare in essa uomini e bestiame,	21 Thus says the Lord GOD: Even though I send Jerusalem my four cruel punishments, the sword, famine, wild beasts, and pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast,
22 pure vi resteranno dei salvati che faranno uscire figli e figlie. Ecco che essi verranno da voi, e ne vedrete la condotta e le tendenze, e vi consolerete delle sventure che ho mandate sopra Gerusalemme, e di tutto quello che ho fatto venire sopra di lei.	22 still some survivors shall be left in it who will bring out sons and daughters; when they come out to you, you shall see their conduct and their actions and be consoled regarding the evil I have brought on Jerusalem (all that I have brought upon it).
23 E vi consolerete nel vedere la loro condotta, le loro tendenze, e riconoscerete che non senza ragione ho fatto tutto quello che ho fatto contro di lei — dice il Signore ».	23 They shall console you when you see their conduct and actions, for you shall then know that it was not without reason that I did to it what I did, says the Lord GOD.
