BIBBIA TINTORI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Il vecchio Tobia aperse la bocca a benedire il Signore e disse: « Tu sei grande in eterno, o Signore, e a tutti i secoli si estende il tuo regno.	1 And Tobias the elder opening his mouth, blessed the Lord, and said: Thou art great, O Lord, for ever, and thy kingdom is unto all ages:
2 Tu flagelli e salvi, tu prostri nel sepolcro e ne fai risorgere: nessuno può sottrarsi alla tua mano.	2 For thou scourgest, and thou savest: thou leadest down to hell, and bringest up again: and there is none that can escape thy hand.
3 Date gloria al Signore, o figli d'Israele, magnificatelo nel cospetto delle nazioni:	3 Give glory to the Lord, ye children of Israel, and praise him in the sight of the Gentiles:
4 Egli v'ha dispersi tra le genti che non lo conoscono, perchè voi raccontiate le sue maraviglie e facciate loro conoscere che fuori di lui non v'è altro Dio onnipotente.	4 Because he hath therefore scattered you among the Gentiles, who know not him, that you may declare his wonderful works, and make them know that there is no other almighty God besides him.
5 Egli ci ha castigati per le nostre iniquità. Egli ci salverà per la sua misericordia.	5 He hath chastised us for our iniquities: and he will save us for his own mercy.
6 Or, considerando quanto ha fatto con noi, dategli lode con timore e tremore, ed esaltate colle vostre opere il re dei secoli.	6 See then what he hath done with us, and with fear and trembling give ye glory to him: and extol the eternal King of worlds in your works.
7 Io poi, nella terra della mia schiavitù, gli darò lode, perchè ha fatto risplendere la sua gloria sopra una nazione peccatrice.	7 As for me, I will praise him in the land of my captivity: because he hath shewn his majesty toward a sinful nation.
8 Ora adunque convertitevi, o peccatori, fate ciò che è giusto dinanzi a Dio, sicuri che vi userà misericordia.	8 Be converted therefore, ye sinners, and do justice before God, believing that he will shew his mercy to you.
9 Io poi con tutta l'anima mia, mi rallegrerò in lui.	9 And I and my soul will rejoice in him.
10 Benedite il Signore, voi tutti, o suoi eletti, celebrate giorni di letizia, e dategli lode.	10 Bless ye the Lord, all his elect, keep days of joy, and give glory to him.
11 Gerusalemme, città di Dio, il Signore ti ha castigata a causa delle opere tue:	11 Jerusalem, city of God, the Lord hath chastised thee for the works of thy hands.
12 ringrazia il Signore per i tuoi beni e benedici il Dio dei secoli, affinchè riedifichi in te il suo Tabernacolo, e riconduca a te tutti i deportati, e tu ne gioisca per tutti i secoli dei secoli.	12 Give glory to the Lord for thy good things, and bless the God eternal, that he may rebuild his tabernacle in thee, and may call back all the captives to thee, and thou mayst rejoice for ever and ever.
13 Tu brillerai di luce splendida, tutti i popoli della terra a te si prostreranno;	13 Thou shalt shine with a glorious light: and all the ends of the earth shall worship thee.
14 le nazioni verranno a te da lontano, e, portando doni, adoreranno in te il Signore, e terranno come santa la tua terra,	14 Nations from afar shall come to thee: and shall bring gifts, and shall adore the Lord in thee, and shall esteem thy land as holy.
15 perchè dentro di te invocheranno il grande nome.	15 For they shall call upon the great name in thee.
16 Quelli che ti disprezzeranno saran maledetti; saran condannati tutti quelli che ti bestemmieranno; saran benedetti tutti quelli che t'avran riedificata.	16 They shall be cursed that shall despise thee: and they shall be condemned that shall blaspheme thee: and blessed shall they be that shall build thee up.
17 Tu sarai felice nei tuoi figli, perchè tutti saran benedetti, e si riuniranno presso il Signore.	17 But thou shalt rejoice in thy children, because they shall all be blessed, and shall be gathered together to the Lord.
18 Beati tutti quelli che ti amano e gioiscono della tua pace.	18 Blessed are all they that love thee, and that rejoice in thy peace.
19 Anima mia, benedici il Signore, perchè ha liberato Gerusalemme sua città da tutte le sue tribolazioni, il Signore nostro Dio.	19 My soul, bless thou the Lord, because the Lord our God hath delivered Jerusalem his city from all her troubles.
20 Oh, me beato! se vi sarà qualche rampollo della mia stirpe a vedere lo splendore di Gerusalemme!	20 Happy shall I be if there shall remain of my seed, to see the glory of Jerusalem.
21 Le porte di Gerusalemme saran di zaffiri e di smeraldi; e tutto il recinto delle sue mura (sarà) di pietre preziose.	21 The gates of Jerusalem shall be built of sapphire, and of emerald, and all the walls thereof round about of precious stones.
22 Tutte le sue piazze saran lastricate di pietre candide, e per le sue contrade si canterà alleluia.	22 All its streets shall be paved with white and clean stones: and Alleluia shall be sung in its streets.
23 Benedetto sia il Signore che l'ha esaltata, Egli regni sopra di lei pei secoli dei secoli. Così sia ».	23 Blessed be the Lord, who hath exalted it, and may he reign over it for ever and ever, Amen.
