BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ora Dio si ricordò di Noè, e di tutte le fiere e di tutti gli animali domestici ch'eran con lui nell'arca, e fece soffiare il vento sulla terra, e le acque diminuirono.	1 But God had Noah in mind, and al the wild animals and all the cattle that were with him in the ark. Godsent a wind across the earth and the waters began to subside.
2 E chiuse le sorgenti dell'abisso, e le cateratte del cielo, e, rattenuta dal cielo la pioggia,	2 The springs of the deep and the sluices of heaven were stopped up and the heavy rain from heavenwas held back.
3 le acque, andando e venendo, si ritirarono dalla, terra; e cominciarono a scemare dopo cento cinquanta giorni.	3 Little by little, the waters ebbed from the earth. After a hundred and fifty days the waters fel ,
4 E nel settimo mese, al ventisette del mese, l'arca si posò sopra le montagne d'Armenia.	4 and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountainsof Ararat.
5 E le acque continuarono a scemare fino al decimo mese; e nel decimo mese, il primo del mese, apparvero le vette dei monti.	5 The waters gradual y fell until the tenth month when, on the first day of the tenth month, the mountaintops appeared.
6 Passati quaranta giorni, Noè, aperta la finestra che aveva fatta nell'arca, mandò fuori il corvo,	6 At the end of forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark
7 il quale andò via e non tornò finché le acque non furono asciugate sulla terra.	7 and released a raven, which flew back and forth as it waited for the waters to dry up on earth.
8 Dopo di lui mandò pure la colomba, per vedere se le acque fossero sparite sopra la superficie della terra.	8 He then released a dove, to see whether the waters were receding from the surface of the earth.
9 Or la colomba, non trovando ove posare il piede, tornò a lui nell'arca, perchè le acque occupavano tutta la superficie della terra; ed egli, stesa la mano, la prese e la mise dentro l'arca.	9 But the dove, finding nowhere to perch, returned to him in the ark, for there was water over the wholesurface of the earth; putting out his hand he took hold of it and brought it back into the ark with him.
10 Avendo poi aspettato altri sette giorni, di nuovo mandò fuori dall'arca la colomba,	10 After waiting seven more days, he again released the dove from the ark.
11 la quale tornò a lui verso sera, portando nel becco un ramo di ulivo con verdi foglie. E Noè capi che le acque non coprivan più la terra;	11 In the evening, the dove came back to him and there in its beak was a freshly-picked olive leaf! SoNoah realised that the waters were receding from the earth.
12 nondimeno aspettò altri sette giorni e rimandò fuori la colomba, la quale non tornò più a lui.	12 After waiting seven more days, he released the dove, and now it returned to him no more.
13 Così l'anno secentesimo primo, nel primo mese, al primo del mese, le acque lasciarono la terra, e Noè, scoperchiato il tetto dell'arca, guardò e vide che la superficie della terra era asciutta.	13 It was in the six hundred and first year of Noah's life, in the first month and on the first of the month,that the waters began drying out on earth. Noah lifted back the hatch of the ark and looked out. The surface ofthe ground was dry!
14 La terra fu asciutta il secondo mese, ai ventisette del mese.	14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
15 E Dio parlò a Noè e gli disse:	15 Then God said to Noah,
16 « Esci dall'arca tu e la tua moglie, i tuoi figlioli e le mogli dei tuoi figlioli teco.	16 'Come out of the ark, you, your wife, your sons, and your sons' wives with you.
17 Fa uscire con te tutti gli animali d'ogni specie che son teco: volatili e bestie e rettili che striscian sulla terra; e scendete sulla terra, crescete e moltiplicatevi sopra di essa ».	17 Bring out all the animals with you, all living things, the birds, the cattle and al the creeping things thatcreep along the ground, for them to swarm on earth, for them to breed and multiply on earth.'
18 Uscì adunque Noè coi suoi figlioli, la sua moglie e le mogli dei suoi figlioli.	18 So Noah came out with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives.
19 E anche tutte le fiere e gli animali domestici e i rettili che strisciano sopra la terra secondo le loro famiglie uscirono dall'arca.	19 And al the wild animals, al the cattle, al the birds and al the creeping things that creep along theground, came out of the ark, one species after another.
20 E Noè eresse un altare al Signore, e, prendendo di tutti gli animali e di tutti gli uccelli puri, li offrì in olocausto sopra l'altare.	20 Then Noah built an altar to Yahweh and, choosing from al the clean animals and all the clean birds hepresented burnt offerings on the altar.
21 E il Signore, gradito l'odore soave, disse: « Io non maledirò più la terra a causa degli uomini, perchè i sensi e i pensieri del cuore umano sono inclinati al male fin dall'adolescenza; quindi non colpirò più ogni vivente come ho fatto.	21 Yahweh smelt the pleasing smell and said to himself, 'Never again wil I curse the earth because ofhuman beings, because their heart contrives evil from their infancy. Never again wil I strike down every livingthing as I have done.
22 Finchè durerà la terra, semente e messe, freddo e caldo, estate e inverno, notte e giorno non cesseranno mai ».	22 As long as earth endures: seed-time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and nightwil never cease.'
