Ezechiele 17

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 «Figlio dell'uomo, proponi un enigma e racconta una parabola alla casa di Israele	2 'Son of man, put a riddle, propound a parable to the House of Israel.
3 e dirai: - Così dice il Signore: Un'aquila enorme, dalle ali immense, dalle membra smisurate, piena di piume e versicolore, venne sul Libano e prese la vetta di mezzo del cedro.	3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: A great eagle with great wings, long-pinioned, rich with many-coloured plumage, came to the Lebanon.
4 Gli strappò la punta frondosa e la trasportò nella terra di Canaan deponendola in una città di mercanti.	4 He took the top of the cedar tree, he plucked off the top branch, he carried it off to the country ofmerchants and set it down in a city of shopkeepers.
5 E scelse un semenzaio di quella terra e la pose in terreno da seme, affinchè prendesse radice; presso abbondanti acque, a fior di terra, l'aveva posta.	5 Next, he took one of the country's seeds and put it in a fertile field; by the side of a generous stream,like a wil ow tree, he placed it.
6 E messi i germogli crebbe in un'ampia vite di basso fusto coi suoi tralci rivolti a quell'aquila e le sue radici sotto di essa; diventò dunque una vite e gettò i tralci e distese le sue propaggini.	6 It grew and became a fruitful vine of modest size, grew up towards the eagle, its roots grewdownwards. So it became a vine, branching out and sprouting new shoots.
7 Or v'era un'altra aquila grande, di vaste ali e molte piume; ed ecco cotesta vite farsi come a volgere le radici verso di essa, e a lei stese i suoi tralci dalle aiuole su cui era piantata, affinchè la irrigasse.	7 But there was another great eagle with great wings and thick plumage. And now the vine twisted itsroots towards him and stretched its branches towards him, for him to water it away from the bed where it wasplanted.
8 Eppure era stata piantata in buon terreno, presso acque abbondanti, per coprirsi di fronde e portar frutti e diventare una magnifica vigna . -	8 It was in a fertile field, by the side of a wide stream that the vine had been planted, to branch out andbear fruit and become a noble vine."
9 Ora dirai: - Così dice il Signore Dio: Farà buona riuscita? o non svellerà le sue radici e non adunghierà i suoi frutti e non farà inaridire tutti i pampini del suo rigoglio e non resterà secca? e non di gran braccio, nè di molta gente avrà mestieri per svellerla dalle radici.	9 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Will it succeed? Wil the eagle not tear out its roots and strip off itsfruit, so that al the new leaves it puts out wil wither, and no great strength is needed nor many people to pul itup by the roots?
10 Ecco è stata piantata: ma farà riuscita e se il vento infocato l'avrà percossa, non si seccherà e nelle aiuole che la facevano rigogliosa non inaridirà? -».	10 Planted it may be -- wil it succeed? Wil it not shrivel up when the east wind blows? It wil wither inthe bed where it was growing!" '
11 E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendomi:	11 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows:
12 «A quella pertinace casa dirai: - Sapete voi ciò che vogliono significare coteste cose? Ecco, dirai, è venuto il re di Babilonia a Gerusalemme e prenderà il re e i suoi principi e li condurrà presso di sè in Babilonia.	12 'Say to that tribe of rebels, "Do you not know what this means?" Say this, 'Look, the king of Babyloncame to Jerusalem; he carried away the king and the princes, and took them to his home in Babylon.
13 E prenderà un rampollo della stirpe reale e stringerà alleanza con lui e ne riceverà il giuramento; ma porterà via anche i grandi del paese,	13 He took a member of the royal family and made a treaty with him, forcing him to swear loyalty, havingalready deported the leading men of the country,
14 affinchè il regno resti basso e non s'innalzi, ma osservi i patti e li mantenga.	14 so that the kingdom would remain modest and without ambitions, and would keep and honour histreaty.
15 Quel rampollo volendo ritirarsi da lui, mandò ambasciatori all'Egitto per ottenere cavalleria e copiosa gente. Avrà prospero successo e giungerà a salvarsi chi ha agito a questa maniera? chi ha rotto l'alleanza, come sfuggirà?	15 But the prince rebelled against him and sent envoys to Egypt to procure himself horses and a largenumber of troops. Wil he succeed? Wil a man who has done this go unpunished? Can he break a treaty and gounpunished?
16 Vivo io, dice il Signore Dio, che nella residenza di quel sovrano che lo aveva creato re, di cui si fece spergiuro rompendo l'alleanza che aveva seco lui, in mezzo a Babilonia costui morrà.	16 As I live, I swear it -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- in Babylon, in the country of the king who put himon the throne, whose oath he has disregarded and whose treaty he has broken, there he will die.
17 E il Faraone non verrà con grande esercito, nè con gente copiosa per affrontarsi in battaglia, intanto che staranno arginando i fossi e costruendo i terrapieni per menar strage di molte vite.	17 Despite the pharaoh's great army and hordes of men, he wil not be able to save him by fighting,however many earthworks are raised, however many trenches dug to the loss of many lives.
18 E quest'altro disprezzò il giuramento per rompere l'alleanza: ecco si son stretti la mano, ma con tutto questo che ha fatto, non troverà uno scampo -».	18 He has disregarded the oath by breaking the treaty to which he had pledged himself and, havingdone al this, wil not go unpunished.
19 Per ciò, così dice il Signore Dio: «Vivo io, che il giuramento che ha disprezzato e l'alleanza che ha tradita porrò sopra il suo capo.	19 "So, the Lord Yahweh says this: As I live, I swear it: my oath which he has disregarded, my treatywhich he has broken, I shall make them both recoil on his own head.
20 E stenderò sopra di lui la mia rete e sarà preso nel mio laccio, e lo condurrò in Babilonia, e ivi lo giudicherò pel tradimento fatto in onta a me.	20 I shal throw my net over him, he wil be caught in my mesh; I shall take him to Babylon and punishhim there for being unfaithful to me.
21 E tutti i suoi fuggitivi, con tutta la sua armata cadranno sotto la spada, e quei che saranno rimasti disperderò a tutti i vènti, e saprete che io il Signore ho parlato».	21 Al the pick of al his troops wil fal by the sword, and the survivors be scattered to al the winds. Andyou wil know that I, Yahweh, have spoken.
22 Così dice il Signore Dio: «E io prenderò un virgulto del cedro sublime, e lo deporrò in un luogo; dalla punta dei suoi rami un tenero rampollo coglierò e lo pianterò sopra un monte elevato e prominente.	22 "The Lord Yahweh says this: From the top of the tal cedar tree, from the highest branch I shal take ashoot and plant it myself on a high and lofty mountain.
23 Sul monte sublime di Israele lo pianterò, e metterà fuori il getto e farà frutto e diventerà un cedro magnifico; e verranno tutti gli uccelli ad abitare sotto di esso, e ogni specie di volatile tra le fronde de' suoi rami farà il suo nido.	23 I shal plant it on the highest mountain in Israel. It wil put out branches and bear fruit and grow into anoble cedar tree. Every kind of bird wil live beneath it, every kind of winged creature will rest in the shade of itsbranches.
24 E tutti gli alberi della campagna sapranno, che io, il Signore, ho abbassato l'albero sublime e ho sublimato l'albero abbassato e ho inaridito l'albero rigoglioso e ho rimesso in rigoglio l'albero inaridito. Io, il Signore, ho parlato e ho fatto».	24 And al the trees of the countryside wil know that I, Yahweh, am the one who lays the tal tree lowand raises the low tree high, who makes the green tree wither and makes the withered bear fruit. I, Yahweh,have spoken, and I wil do it." '
