BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 - Meglio un povero che cammina colla sua semplicità d'un ricco che torce le sue labbra e che sia stolto.	1 Better is the poor who walks in his simplicity, than the rich who twists his lips and is unwise.
2 Dove non c'è coscienza di sè non c'è il bene, e chi è frettoloso nei passi, inciampa.	2 Where there is no knowledge of the soul, there is no good. And whoever hurries with his feet will stumble.
3 L'imprudenza dell'uomo manda a rovescio i suoi piani, e poi irrita il suo cuore contro Dio.	3 The foolishness of a man undermines his steps. And then he seethes in his soul against God.
4 Le ricchezze attirano amici in gran copia e dal povero, anche gli amici che aveva, se ne discostano.	4 Riches adds many friends. But from the pauper, even those whom he had become separated.
5 Il falso testimonio non andrà impunito, e chi dice menzogna non la scamperà.	5 A false witness shall not go unpunished. And whoever speaks lies will not escape.
6 Molti corteggiano la persona del potente e sono amici dell'uomo che dà.	6 Many honor the character of one who is powerful, and there are friends for a giver of gifts.
7 I fratelli dell'uomo povero l'hanno preso in avversione, quanto più gli amici se ne saranno allontanati! Chi va dietro alle ciance non avrà mai nulla.	7 The brothers of the poor man hate him. Moreover, even his friends have withdrawn far from him. Whoever pursues only words shall have nothing.
8 Chi fa acquisto di senno ama se stesso, e chi fa tesoro di prudenza se ne troverà bene.	8 But whoever possesses reason loves his own soul. And one who guards prudence shall discover good things.
9 Il testimonio falso non uscirà netto, e chi dice menzogne perirà.	9 A false witness shall not go unpunished. And whoever speaks lies will perish.
10 Non istà bene uno stolto tra gli agi, nè che un servo spadroneggi tra i signori.	10 Fine things are not fitting for the foolish, nor is it fitting for a servant to rule over princes.
11 Dalla pazienza si conosce l'istruzione dell'uomo ed è sua gloria passare sopra le offese.	11 The doctrine of a man is known through patience. And his glory is to pass beyond iniquities.
12 Come il ruggito del leone, così l'ira del re, e quale la rugiada sull'erba, così il suo viso rasserenato.	12 Like the roaring of a lion, so also is the wrath of a king. And his cheerfulness is like the dew upon the grass.
13 Il figlio stolto è il cruccio di suo padre e un tetto che continua a sgocciolare, una donna leticona.	13 A foolish son is the grief of his father. And an argumentative wife is like a roof that is continually leaking.
14 La casa e le sostanze sono date dai parenti, ma proprio da Dio la moglie savia.	14 A house and its riches are given by parents. But a prudent wife is particularly from the Lord.
15 La pigrizia fa pigliar la sonnolenza, e l'anima fiacca patirà la fame.	15 Laziness sends one into a deep sleep, and a dissolute soul will go hungry.
16 Chi custodisce il precetto, custodisce l'anima sua; chi disprezza le sue vie, a morte s'incammina.	16 Whoever guards a commandment guards his own soul. But whoever neglects his own way will die.
17 Chi fa la carità al mendico presta a Dio, che gli renderà il contraccambio.	17 Whoever is merciful to the poor lends to the Lord. And he will repay him for his efforts.
18 Correggi il tuo figliuolo e non disperare, e non metterti in animo di vederlo morto.	18 Teach your son; do not despair. But do not set your soul toward putting him to death.
19 Chi presto s'adira pagherà l'ammenda, e se viene alla violenza, più glie se ne aggiungerà.	19 Whoever is impatient will sustain damage. And when it has been taken away, he will set up another.
20 Ascolta il consiglio e ricevi la correzionese vuoi essere savio in avvenire.	20 Listen to counsel and take up discipline, so that you may be wise in your latter days.
21 Nel cuore umano vi sono propositi assai, ma è la volontà di Dio quella che prevale.	21 There are many intentions in the heart of a man. But the will of the Lord shall stand firm.
22 L'uomo che ha provato il bisogno, diventa compassionevole, quindi è meglio un povero, che un uomo finto.	22 An indigent man is merciful. And a pauper is better than a deceitful man.
23 Il timor di Dio conduce alla vita e nell'abbondanza dimora senza che lo visiti il male.	23 The fear of the Lord is unto life. And he shall linger in plentitude, without being visited by disaster.
24 Il pigro mette la sua mano sotto l'ascella, neppur per portarsela alla bocca la tirerà fuori.	24 The lazy conceals his hand under his arm, and he will not so much as bring it to his mouth.
25 Se batti l'insolente, anche l'ingenuo si fa accorto, e se riprendi un sapiente, avrà di che imparare.	25 When the pestilent are scourged, the foolish will become wiser. But if you chastise the wise, he will understand discipline.
26 Chi maltratta il padre e scaccia la madreè un infame e un disgraziato.	26 Whoever afflicts his father and flees from his mother is disreputable and unhappy.
27 Non stancarti, figliuolo, di udire insegnamentie non essere ignaro delle massime della scienza.	27 Son, do not cease listening to doctrine, and do not be ignorant of the sermons of knowledge.
28 Il testimonio iniquo si piglia giuoco della giustizia, e la bocca degli empi trova il suo pascolo nel delitto.	28 An unjust witness ridicules judgment. And the mouth of the impious devours iniquity.
29 Le pene stanno preparate pei furfanti e i colpi di staffile per la pelle degli stolti.	29 Judgments are prepared for those who ridicule. And striking hammers are prepared for the bodies of the foolish.
