Tobia 13

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 - Allora il vecchio Tobia aprì la bocca a benedire il Signore, e disse:« Grande sei in eterno, o Signore; in tutti i secoli è il regno tuo;	1 And Tobias the elder opening his mouth, blessed the Lord, and said: Thou art great, O Lord, for ever, and thy kingdom is unto all ages:
2 perchè tu flagelli e salvi, conduci al sepolcro e risusciti nè v'è chi sfugga dalla tua mano.	2 For thou scourgest, and thou savest: thou leadest down to hell, and bringest up again: and there is none that can escape thy hand.
3 Date gloria al Signore, figli d' Israele, e lodatelo al cospetto delle nazioni;	3 Give glory to the Lord, ye children of Israel, and praise him in the sight of the Gentiles:
4 perchè egli vi fe' disperdere fra popoli che non lo conoscono, acciò narraste le sue meraviglie, ed insegnaste ad essi che non v' è altro Dio onnipotente oltre di lui.	4 Because he hath therefore scattered you among the Gentiles, who know not him, that you may declare his wonderful works, and make them know that there is no other almighty God besides him.
5 Egli ci castigò per le nostre iniquità; egli ci libererà per la sua misericordia.	5 He hath chastised us for our iniquities: and he will save us for his own mercy.
6 Rimirate dunque quel ch'egli ha fatto per noi con timore e tremore rendetegli lode, e con le vostre opere esaltate il re de' secoli.	6 See then what he hath done with us, and with fear and trembling give ye glory to him: and extol the eternal King of worlds in your works.
7 Io poi nella terra del mio esilio gli darò lode, perchè ha mostrato la sua maestà ad una gente peccatrice.	7 As for me, I will praise him in the land of my captivity: because he hath shewn his majesty toward a sinful nation.
8 Convertitevi dunque, peccatori, e fate il bene innanzi a Dìo, credendo che egli userà con voi la sua misericordia.	8 Be converted therefore, ye sinners, and do justice before God, believing that he will shew his mercy to you.
9 Io poi e l'anima mia in lui ci rallegreremo,	9 And I and my soul will rejoice in him.
10 Benedite tutti il Signore, o suoi eletti; celebrate giorni di letizia, e dategli lode.	10 Bless ye the Lord, all his elect, keep days of joy, and give glory to him.
11 O Gerusalemme, città di Dio, il Signore t' ha castigato per l'opere delle tue mani.	11 Jerusalem, city of God, the Lord hath chastised thee for the works of thy hands.
12 Da' gloria a Dio pei tuoi beni, e benedici l'iddio de' secoli; acciò riedifichi in te il suo tabernacolo, e richiami a te tutt' i prigionieri, e tu goda in tutti i secoli de' secoli.	12 Give glory to the Lord for thy good things, and bless the God eternal, that he may rebuild his tabernacle in thee, and may call back all the captives to thee, and thou mayst rejoice for ever and ever.
13 Tu rifulgerai di splendida luce, e tutti i confini della terra t'adoreranno.	13 Thou shalt shine with a glorious light: and all the ends of the earth shall worship thee.
14 A te verranno le genti da lungi, e portando doni in te adoreranno il Signore; considereranno come un santuario la tua terra,	14 Nations from afar shall come to thee: and shall bring gifts, and shall adore the Lord in thee, and shall esteem thy land as holy.
15 perchè in mezzo a te invocheranno il nome grande,	15 For they shall call upon the great name in thee.
16 Saranno maledetti quelli che ti disprezzeranno; condannati tutti quelli che ti bestemmieranno; benedetti quelli che ti riedificheranno.	16 They shall be cursed that shall despise thee: and they shall be condemned that shall blaspheme thee: and blessed shall they be that shall build thee up.
17 Tu poi ti rallegrerai ne' tuoi figli, perchè tutti saran benedetti, e riuniti presso il Signore.	17 But thou shalt rejoice in thy children, because they shall all be blessed, and shall be gathered together to the Lord.
18 Beati tutti quelli che t'amano, e che si rallegrano della tua pace.	18 Blessed are all they that love thee, and that rejoice in thy peace.
19 Anima mia, benedici il Signore, perchè ha liberato Gerusalemme sua città da tutte le sue tribolazioni, il Signore Dio nostro.	19 My soul, bless thou the Lord, because the Lord our God hath delivered Jerusalem his city from all her troubles.
20 Beato sarò se rimarrò qualcuno della mia stirpe a veder lo splendore di Gerusalemme.	20 Happy shall I be if there shall remain of my seed, to see the glory of Jerusalem.
21 Le porte di Gerusalemme saran fatte di zaffiro e smeraldo, e tutto il giro delle sue mura di pietra preziosa.	21 The gates of Jerusalem shall be built of sapphire, and of emerald, and all the walls thereof round about of precious stones.
22 Tutte le sue piazze saran lastricate di pietra candida e monda, e per le sue strade si canterà: alleluia.	22 All its streets shall be paved with white and clean stones: and Alleluia shall be sung in its streets.
23 Benedetto il Signore che l'ha esaltata, e sia il regno di lui sopra d'essa nel secoli de' secoli. Amen ».	23 Blessed be the Lord, who hath exalted it, and may he reign over it for ever and ever, Amen.
