BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Terminato che ebbe Salomone di costruire la casa del Signore, la casa reale e tutto ciò che aveva desiderato e voluto fare,	1 When Solomon had finished building the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and everything else whichSolomon had wanted to do,
2 il Signore gli apparve una seconda volta, come gli era apparso già in Gabaon,	2 Yahweh appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.
3 e gli disse: «Io ho esaudito la tua orazione e la tua supplica, rivolta al mio cospetto; ho santificato questa casa, che tu hai edificato per mettervi il mio nome in sempiterno, e lì saran sempre i miei occhi e il mio cuore.	3 Yahweh said to him, 'I have heard your prayer and the entreaty which you have before me. I consecratethis temple which you have built: I place my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart wil be there always.
4 Tu poi, se camminerai sempre al mio cospetto, come camminò il padre tuo, nella semplicità del cuore e nella rettitudine, e farai tutto ciò che ti ho comandato e osserverai le mie leggi e i miei precetti,	4 For your part, if you walk before me in innocence of heart and in honesty, like your father David, if youdo everything that I command and keep my laws and my ordinances,
5 porrò il trono del tuo regno sopra Israele in eterno, come promisi a Davide tuo padre con quelle parole: - Non sarà tolto mai un uomo della tua discendenza dal trono di Israele. -	5 I shal make your royal throne secure over Israel for ever, as I promised your father David when I said,"You wil never lack for a man on the throne of Israel."
6 Che se poi vi allontanerete da me, voi e i vostri figliuoli, e non seguirete me, e non osserverete i miei comandamenti, le mie leggi che vi ho imposte, ma ve ne andrete a servire degli dèi stranieri e li adorerete,	6 But if you turn away from me, either you or your descendants, and instead of keeping mycommandments and laws which I have laid down for you, you go and serve other gods and worship them,
7 strapperò Israele dalla superficie della terra, che gli ho dato, e rigetterò dal mio cospetto il tempio, che ho santificato al mio nome, ed Israele diverrà lo scherno e la favola di tutti i popoli.	7 then I shal banish Israel from the country which I have given them, and shall disown this Temple which Ihave consecrated for my name, and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among al peoples.
8 E questa casa sarà a tutti di esempio, e chiunque vi passerà vicino sarà pieno di stupore e fischierà e dirà: - Perchè il Signore ha trattato così questa terra e questa casa? -	8 As for this once-exalted Temple, everyone who passes by wil be appal ed, and they wil whistle and say,"Why has Yahweh treated this country and this Temple like this?"
9 e si risponderà: - Perchè hanno abbandonato il Signore Dio loro, che trasse i loro padri dalla terra di Egitto, e si son dati a seguire divinità straniere, ad adorarle e a venerarle; perciò il Signore ha mandato tali sciagure sopra di loro -».	9 And the answer wil be, "Because they deserted Yahweh their God who brought their ancestors out ofEgypt, and they adopted other gods and worshipped and served them; that is why Yahweh has brought al thesedisasters on them." '
10 Passati che furono venti anni da che Salomone ebbe edificato le due case, vale a dire la casa del Signore e la reggia,	10 At the end of the twenty years that it took Solomon to erect the two buildings, the Temple of Yahwehand the royal palace
11 (per cui Iram re di Tiro aveva dato a Salomone il legname di cedro e di abete e l'oro secondo il bisogno), Salomone diede ad Iram venti città nella terra di Galilea.	11 (Hiram king of Tyre had provided Solomon with al the cedar wood, juniper wood and gold that hewanted), King Solomon gave Hiram twenty towns in the territory of Galilee.
12 Iram uscito da Tiro per vedere le città assegnategli da Salomone, non le trovò di suo gusto,	12 But when Hiram came from Tyre to view the towns that Solomon had given him, he was not pleasedwith them.
13 e disse: «Son queste le città che tu mi hai dato, o fratello?», e le chiamò "terra di Cabul", come si chiamano anche oggidì.	13 He said, 'What kind of towns are these you have given me, brother?' And to this day they are known as'cabul-land'.
14 Iram mandò inoltre al re Salomone centoventi talenti d'oro.	14 Hiram sent the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.
15 Ecco quanto spese Salomone per edificare la casa del Signore e la casa sua e Mello e le mura di Gerusalemme ed Eser e Mageddo e Gazer.	15 This is an account of the forced labour levied by King Solomon for building the Temple of Yahweh, hisown palace, the Mil o and the fortifications of Jerusalem, Hazor, Megiddo, Gezer
16 Faraone, re d'Egitto, era salito ad impadronirsi della città di Gazer, e incendiatala, aveva ucciso tutti i Cananei che abitavano la città e l'aveva data in dote alla figlia sua, moglie di Salomone.	16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt mounted an expedition, captured Gezer, burnt it down and massacred theCanaanites living there; he then gave the town as a dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife,
17 Salomone adunque edificò Gazer, e Betoron inferiore,	17 and Solomon rebuilt Gezer), Lower Beth-Horon,
18 e Balaat, e Palmira nel deserto,	18 Baalath, Tamar in the desert, inside the country,
19 e fortificò tutti i villaggi che appartenevano a lui e che erano senza mura e tutte le città per i carri e per la cavalleria e tutto ciò che gli piacque edificare in Gerusalemme, e al Libano e in tutto il territorio di cui era padrone.	19 al Solomon's storage towns owned by Solomon, al the towns for his chariots and horses, andwhatever Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and in al the countries under his rule.
20 Tutti quelli che erano restati degli Amorrei, degli Etei, dei Ferezei, degli Evei e dei Jebusei che non appartenevano ai figli d'Israele	20 Al those who survived of the Amorite, Hittite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who were notIsraelites-
21 e i cui discendenti erano restati nel paese, quelli cioè che i figli d'Israele non avevano potuto sterminare, furono da Salomone fatti tributari fino ai nostri giorni.	21 their descendants still remaining in the country on whom the Israelites had not been able to enforce thecurse of destruction -- these Solomon levied as forced labourers, as is stil the case today.
22 Salomone poi stabilì che nessuno dei figli d'Israele avesse ad essere schiavo, ma dovevano essere o soldati, o ministri suoi, o capi, o comandanti dei carri e della cavalleria.	22 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites; for they were soldiers, his officials,his administrators, his officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.
23 I capi preposti da Salomone a tutti i suoi lavori erano cinquecentocinquanta: a loro stava soggetto il popolo e sopraintendevano alle opere stabilite.	23 There were five hundred and fifty officials in charge of the foremen over Solomon's work, whosupervised the people employed on the work.
24 La figlia poi di Salomone salì dalla città di Davide nella casa, che Salomone le aveva fatto costruire. Allora fu edificato Mello.	24 After Pharaoh's daughter had moved from the City of David up to the palace which he had built for her,he then built the Mil o.
25 Salomone offriva tre volte all'anno olocausti e vittime pacifiche sull'altare ch'egli aveva eretto al Signore e bruciava incensi dinanzi al Signore; e il tempio venne ultimato.	25 Three times a year Solomon presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices on the altar which hehad built for Yahweh and set his burnt offerings smoking before Yahweh. Thus he completed the Temple.
26 Salomone fece altresì una flotta in Asiongaber, che è vicino ad Ailat, sulle spiagge del mar Rosso nella terra di Idumea.	26 King Solomon equipped a fleet at Ezion-Geber, which is near Elath on the shores of the Red Sea, inEdom.
27 Iram mandò a quella flotta i suoi uomini, marinari e pratici del mare, insieme ai servi di Salomone,	27 For this fleet Hiram sent men of his, experienced sailors, to serve with those in Solomon's service.
28 i quali essendo andati ad Ofir fecero incetta di quattrocentoventi talenti d'oro e li portarono a Salomone.	28 They went to Ophir and took on four hundred and twenty talents of gold, which they brought back toSolomon.
