BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Ora, avendo gli uomini cominciato a moltiplicarsi sopra la terra, ed avendo procreato delle figliuole,	1 When people began being numerous on earth, and daughters had been born to them,
2 i figli di Dio, che videro esser belle le figlie degli uomini, si presero in mogli, fra tutte, quelle che loro piacquero.	2 the sons of God, looking at the women, saw how beautiful they were and married as many of them asthey chose.
3 Disse Iddio: «Lo spirito mio non abiterà nell'uomo per sempre, perchè egli è carne; ed i suoi giorni saranno centovent'anni».	3 Yahweh said, 'My spirit cannot be indefinitely responsible for human beings, who are only flesh; let thetime al owed each be a hundred and twenty years.'
4 Or v'erano dei giganti sulla terra in quel tempo. Perchè, dopo che i figli di Dio si congiunsero alle figlie degli uomini, ed esse generarono, [ne vennero] questi uomini forti e robusti, famosi nei secoli.	4 The Nephilim were on earth in those days (and even afterwards) when the sons of God resorted to thewomen, and had children by them. These were the heroes of days gone by, men of renown.
5 Vedendo pertanto Iddio che grande era la malizia degli uomini sulla terra, e che ogni pensiero del loro cuore era rivolto in ogni tempo al male,	5 Yahweh saw that human wickedness was great on earth and that human hearts contrived nothing butwicked schemes al day long.
6 si pentì d'aver fatto l'uomo sulla terra. E, tocco da intimo dolore del cuore, disse:	6 Yahweh regretted having made human beings on earth and was grieved at heart.
7 «Sterminerò di su la faccia della terra gli esseri da me creati, dall'uomo insino alle bestie, dai rettili sino agli uccelli dell'aria, perchè mi pento d'averli fatti».	7 And Yahweh said, 'I shal rid the surface of the earth of the human beings whom I created -- humanand animal, the creeping things and the birds of heaven -- for I regret having made them.'
8 Ma Noè trovò grazia innanzi al Signore.	8 But Noah won Yahweh's favour.
9 Questa è la discendenza di Noè. Noè fu uomo giusto e perfetto tra quelli del suo tempo, e camminò con Dio.	9 This is the story of Noah: Noah was a good man, an upright man among his contemporaries, and hewalked with God.
10 E generò tre figli: Sem, Cam e Iafet.	10 Noah fathered three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth.
11 Ora, la terra era corrotta agli occhi di Dio, e piena d'iniquità.	11 God saw that the earth was corrupt and ful of lawlessness.
12 Avendo Dio veduto che tutta la terra era corrotta, ogni uomo infatti aveva macchiato le sue vie sulla terra,	12 God looked at the earth: it was corrupt, for corrupt were the ways of al living things on earth.
13 disse a Noè: «La fine di tutti i viventi è stata da me decretata; la terra è piena d'iniquità per la loro presenza, ed io li disperderò insieme alla terra.	13 God said to Noah, 'I have decided that the end has come for al living things, for the earth is full oflawlessness because of human beings. So I am now about to destroy them and the earth.
14 Fatti un'arca con dei legni lavorati; fa' in essa delle celle, e spalmala di bitume dentro e fuori.	14 Make yourself an ark out of resinous wood. Make it of reeds and caulk it with pitch inside and out.
15 La farai così: di trecento cubiti sarà la lunghezza dell'arca, di cinquanta cubiti la larghezza, e di trenta l'altezza.	15 This is how to make it: the length of the ark is to be three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, andits height thirty cubits.
16 Farai nell'arca un'apertura, e un cubito più alto di questa, il tetto. Porrai da un lato la sua porta. Vi farai un piano di fondo, un secondo piano, ed un terzo.	16 Make a roof to the ark, building it up to a cubit higher. Put the entrance in the side of the ark, which isto be made with lower, second and third decks.
17 Ecco, io farò venire sulla terra un diluvio d'acque, per distruggere ogni essere che ha alito di vita sotto il cielo; tutto quanto è sulla terra perirà.	17 'For my part I am going to send the flood, the waters, on earth, to destroy al living things having thebreath of life under heaven; everything on earth is to perish.
18 Ma farò un patto con te. Entrerai nell'arca tu ed i tuoi figli, la moglie tua e le mogli dei tuoi figliuoli con te.	18 But with you I shal establish my covenant and you wil go aboard the ark, yourself, your sons, yourwife, and your sons' wives along with you.
19 E di tutti gli animali d'ogni specie, ne introdurrai nell'arca una coppia, un maschio e una femmina, acciò si salvino con te.	19 From al living creatures, from al living things, you must take two of each kind aboard the ark, to savetheir lives with yours; they must be a male and a female.
20 Degli uccelli secondo la loro specie, e delle bestie secondo la loro specie, e d'ogni rettile della terra secondo la sua specie, tutti entreranno teco a coppie, acciò possano conservarsi.	20 Of every species of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that creeps along theground, two must go with you so that their lives may be saved.
21 Prenderai dunque teco di tutte quelle cose che si possono mangiare, e le raccoglierai presso di te, acciò siano d'alimento a te come ad essi».	21 For your part, provide yourself with eatables of al kinds, and lay in a store of them, to serve as foodfor yourself and them.'
22 E Noè fece tutto quel che gli aveva ordinato Iddio.	22 Noah did this; exactly as God commanded him, he did.
