Osea 12

1 Èfraim mi raggira con menzogne e la casa d’Israele con frode. Ma Giuda è ancora con Dio e resta fedele al Santo».	1 Ephraim besieges me with lying, the House of Israel with duplicity. (But Judah stil is on God's side, heis faithful to the Holy One.)
2 Èfraim si pasce di vento e insegue il vento d’oriente, ogni giorno moltiplica menzogne e violenze; fanno alleanze con l’Assiria e portano olio in Egitto.	2 Ephraim feeds himself on wind, all day he chases the wind from the East, he heaps up cheating andviolence; they make a treaty with Assyria, at the same time sending oil to Egypt.
3 Il Signore è in causa con Giuda e punirà Giacobbe per la sua condotta, lo ripagherà secondo le sue azioni.	3 Yahweh has a case against Judah, he will punish Jacob as his conduct merits, he will repay him as hisdeeds deserve.
4 Egli nel grembo materno soppiantò il fratello e da adulto lottò con Dio,	4 In the very womb he overreached his brother, in maturity he wrestled against God.
5 lottò con l’angelo e vinse, pianse e domandò grazia. Lo ritrovò a Betel e là gli parlò.	5 He wrestled with the angel and beat him, he wept and pleaded with him. He met him at Bethel andthere God spoke to us-
6 Signore, Dio degli eserciti, Signore è il nome con cui celebrarlo.	6 yes, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, Yahweh is his title!
7 Tu ritorna al tuo Dio, osserva la bontà e la giustizia e poni sempre nel tuo Dio la tua speranza.	7 So turn back with God's help, maintain faithful love and loyalty and always put your trust in your God.
8 Canaan tiene in mano bilance false, ama frodare.	8 Merchants use fraudulent scales. To defraud is his delight.
9 Èfraim ha detto: «Sono ricco, mi sono fatto una fortuna; malgrado tutti i miei guadagni, non troveranno in me una colpa che sia peccato».	9 'How rich I have become!' says Ephraim, 'I have made a fortune.' But of al his gains he wil keepnothing because of the sin of which he is guilty.
10 «Eppure io sono il Signore, tuo Dio, fin dal paese d’Egitto. Ti farò ancora abitare sotto le tende, come ai giorni dell’incontro nel deserto.	10 But I have been Yahweh your God since your days in Egypt and will make you live in tents again asin the days of Meeting.
11 Io parlerò ai profeti, moltiplicherò le visioni e per mezzo dei profeti parlerò con parabole».	11 I will speak through prophets, I will give vision after vision and through the ministry of prophets wilspeak in parables.
12 Se Gàlaad è una iniquità, i suoi abitanti non sono che menzogna; in Gàlgala si sacrifica ai tori, perciò i loro altari saranno come mucchi di pietre nei solchi dei campi.	12 Is Gilead a sink of iniquity? Yes, they are a worthless lot! At Gilgal they sacrifice to bulls, that is whytheir altars are like heaps of stones in a ploughed field.
13 Giacobbe fuggì nella regione di Aram, Israele prestò servizio per una donna e per una donna fece il guardiano di bestiame.	13 Jacob fled to the countryside of Aram, Israel slaved to win a wife, to win a wife he looked after sheep.
14 Per mezzo di un profeta il Signore fece uscire Israele dall’Egitto, e per mezzo di un profeta lo custodì.	14 By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel out of Egypt and by a prophet Israel was preserved.
15 Èfraim provocò Dio amaramente, il Signore gli farà ricadere addosso il sangue versato e lo ripagherà della sua offesa.	15 Ephraim gave bitter provocation- Yahweh will bring his bloodshed down on him, his Lord wil repayhim for his insult.
