1 Orgoglio dei cieli è il limpido firmamento, spettacolo celeste in una visione di gloria!	1 Pride of the heights, a clear vault of the sky -- such is the beauty of the heavens, a glorious sight.
2 Il sole mentre appare nel suo sorgere proclama: "Che meraviglia è l'opera dell'Altissimo!".	2 The sun, as he emerges, proclaims at his rising, 'How wonderful a thing, the work of the Most High!'
3 A mezzogiorno dissecca la terra, e di fronte al suo calore chi può resistere?	3 At his zenith, he parches the ground, who can withstand his blaze?
4 Si soffia nella fornace per ottenere calore, il sole brucia i monti tre volte tanto; emettendo vampe di fuoco, facendo brillare i suoi raggi, abbaglia gli occhi.	4 We have to blow the furnace to produce any heat, the sun burns the mountains three times as much;breathing out blasts of fire, flashing his rays, he dazzles the eyes.
5 Grande è il Signore che l'ha creato e con la parola ne affretta il rapido corso.	5 Great is the Lord who created him and whose word speeds him on his course.
6 Anche la luna sempre puntuale nelle sue fasi regola i mesi e determina il tempo.	6 And then the moon, ever punctual to mark the times, an everlasting sign:
7 Dalla luna dipende l'indicazione delle feste, luminare che decresce fino alla sua scomparsa.	7 It is the moon that signals the feasts, a luminary that wanes after being ful .
8 Da essa il mese prende nome, mirabilmente crescendo secondo le fasi. È un'insegna per le milizie nell'alto splendendo nel firmamento del cielo.	8 The month derives its name from hers, she waxes wonderful y in her phases, banner of the hosts onhigh, shining in the vault of heaven.
9 Bellezza del cielo la gloria degli astri, ornamento splendente nelle altezze del Signore.	9 The glory of the stars makes the beauty of the sky, a brilliant adornment of the Lord on High.
10 Si comportano secondo gli ordini del Santo, non si stancano al loro posto di sentinelle.	10 At the words of the Holy One they stand as he decrees, and never grow slack at their watch.
11 Osserva l'arcobaleno e benedici colui che l'ha fatto, è bellissimo nel suo splendore.	11 See the rainbow and praise its Maker, so superbly beautiful in its splendour.
12 Avvolge il cielo con un cerchio di gloria, l'hanno teso le mani dell'Altissimo.	12 Across the sky it forms a glorious arc drawn by the hands of the Most High.
13 Con un comando invia la neve, fa guizzare i fulmini del suo giudizio.	13 By his command he sends the snow, he speeds the lightning by his command.
14 Così si aprono i depositi e le nubi volano via come uccelli.	14 In the same way, his treasuries open and the clouds fly out like birds.
15 Con potenza condensa le nubi, che si polverizzano in chicchi di grandine.	15 His great power solidifies the clouds, then pulverises them into hail.
	16 at the sight of him, the mountains quake. At his wil the south wind blows,or the storm from the northand the whirlwind.
	17 At the roar of his thunder, the earth writhes in labour,
18 Fa scendere la neve come uccelli che si posano, come cavallette che si posano è la sua discesa; l'occhio ammira la bellezza del suo candore e il cuore stupisce nel vederla fioccare.	18 He sprinkles snow like birds alighting, it comes down like locusts settling. The eye marvels at thebeauty of its whiteness, and the mind is amazed at its falling.
19 Riversa sulla terra la brina come il sale, che gelandosi forma come tante punte di spine.	19 Over the earth, like salt, he also pours hoarfrost, which, when it freezes, bristles like thorns.
20 Soffia la gelida tramontana, sull'acqua si condensa il ghiaccio; esso si posa sull'intera massa d'acqua, che si riveste come di corazza.	20 The cold wind blows from the north, and ice forms on the water; it forms on every piece of standingwater, covering it like a breastplate.
21 Inaridisce i monti e brucia il deserto; divora l'erba come un fuoco.	21 The wind swal ows up the mountains and scorches the desert, like a fire it consumes the vegetation.
22 Il rimedio di tutto, un annuvolamento improvviso, l'arrivo della rugiada ristora dal caldo.	22 But cloud brings swift healing, and dew brings joy after the heat.
23 Dio con la sua parola ha domato l'abisso e vi ha piantato isole.	23 By his own resourcefulness he has tamed the abyss, and planted it with islands.
24 I naviganti parlano dei pericoli del mare, a sentirli con i nostri orecchi restiamo stupiti;	24 Those who sail the sea tell of its dangers, their accounts fill our ears with amazement:
25 là ci sono anche cose singolari e stupende, esseri viventi di ogni specie e mostri marini.	25 for there too exist strange and wonderful works, animals of every kind and huge sea creatures.
26 Per lui il messaggero cammina facilmente, tutto procede secondo la sua parola.	26 Thanks to God, his messenger reaches port, everything works out according to his word.
27 Potremmo dir molte cose e mai finiremmo; ma per concludere: "Egli è tutto!".	27 We could say much more and stil fal short; to put it concisely, 'He is al .'
28 Come potremmo avere la forza per lodarlo? Egli, il Grande, al di sopra di tutte le sue opere.	28 Where shall we find sufficient power to glorify him, since he is the Great One, above al his works,
29 Il Signore è terribile e molto grande, e meravigliosa è la sua potenza.	29 the awe-inspiring Lord, stupendously great, and wonderful in his power?
30 Nel glorificare il Signore esaltatelo quanto potete, perché ancora più alto sarà. Nell'innalzarlo moltiplicate la vostra forza, non stancatevi, perché mai finirete.	30 Exalt the Lord in your praises as high as you may -- stil he surpasses you. Exert al your strengthwhen you exalt him, do not grow tired -- you wil never come to the end.
31 Chi lo ha contemplato e lo descriverà? Chi può magnificarlo come egli è?	31 Who has ever seen him to describe him? Who can glorify him as he deserves?
32 Ci sono molte cose nascoste più grandi di queste; noi contempliamo solo poche delle sue opere.	32 Many mysteries remain even greater than these, for we have seen only a few of his works,
33 Il Signore infatti ha creato ogni cosa, ha dato la sapienza ai pii.	33 the Lord himself having created al things and given wisdom to those who are devout.
