But the people still followed corrupt practices. |
| 3 Egli costruì la porta superiore del tempio di Jahvè ed eseguì molte costruzioni per la muraglia dell'Ofel. | 3 He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD, and did much building on the wall of Ophel. |
| 4 Fortificò città sulla montagna di Giuda e nei boschi eresse castelli e torri. | 4 Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and forts and towers on the wooded hills. |
| 5 Egli mosse guerra al re dei figli di Ammon e riportò vittoria su di loro. In quell’anno i figli di Ammon gli dovettero dare cento talenti d'argento, diecimila chor di grano e diecimila pani di orzo. Altrettanto gli pagarono i figli di Ammon il secondo e il terzo anno. | 5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. And the Ammonites gave him that year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand cors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second and the third years. |
| 6 Così Jotam divenne potente, poiché camminò costantemenente alla presenza di Jahvè suo Dio. | 6 So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God. |
