Salmos 18

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Del maestro de coro. Del siervo de Yahveh, David, que dirigió a Yahveh las palabras de este cántico el día en que Yahveh le libró de todos sus enemigos y de las manos de Saúl.	1 [For the choirmaster Of David, the servant of Yahweh, who addressed the words of this song toYahweh when Yahweh had delivered him from all his enemies and from the clutches of Saul. He said:] I loveyou, Yahweh, my strength (my Saviour, you have saved me from violence).
2 Dijo: Yo te amo, Yahveh, mi fortaleza, (mi salvador, que de la violencia me has salvado).	2 Yahweh is my rock and my fortress, my deliverer is my God. I take refuge in him, my rock, my shield,my saving strength, my stronghold, my place of refuge.
3 Yahveh, mi roca y mi baluarte, mi liberador, mi Dios; la peña en que me amparo, mi escudo y fuerza de mi salvación, mi ciudadela y mi refugio.	3 I call to Yahweh who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my foes.
4 Invoco a Yahveh, que es digno de alabanza, y quedo a salvo de mis enemigos.	4 With Death's breakers closing in on me, Belial's torrents ready to swal ow me,
5 Las olas de la muerte me envolvían, me espantaban las trombas de Belial,	5 Sheol's snares every side of me, Death's traps lying ahead of me,
6 los lazos del seol me rodeaban, me aguardaban los cepos de la Muerte.	6 I called to Yahweh in my anguish, I cried for help to my God; from his Temple he heard my voice, mycry came to his ears.
7 Clamé a Yahveh en mi angustia, a mi Dios invoqué; y escuchó mi voz desde su Templo, resonó mi llamada en sus oídos.	7 Then the earth quaked and rocked, the mountains' foundations shuddered, they quaked at his blazinganger.
8 La tierra fue sacudida y vaciló, retemblaron las bases de los montes, (vacilaron bajo su furor);	8 Smoke rose from his nostrils, from his mouth devouring fire (coals were kindled at it).
9 una humareda subió de sus narices, y de su boca un fuego que abrasaba, (de él salían carbones encendidos).	9 He parted the heavens and came down, a storm-cloud underneath his feet;
10 El inclinó los cielos y bajó, un espeso nublado debajo de sus pies;	10 riding one of the winged creatures, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind.
11 cabalgó sobre un querube, emprendió el vuelo, sobre las alas de los vientos planeó.	11 His covering he made the darkness, his pavilion dark waters and dense cloud.
12 Se puso como tienda un cerco de tinieblas, tinieblas de las aguas, espesos nubarrones;	12 A brightness lit up before him, hail and blazing fire.
13 del fulgor que le precedía se encendieron granizo y ascuas de fuego.	13 Yahweh thundered from the heavens, the Most High made his voice heard.
14 Tronó Yahveh en los cielos, lanzó el Altísimo su voz;	14 He shot his arrows and scattered them, he hurled his lightning and routed them.
15 arrojó saetas, y los puso en fuga, rayos fulminó y sembró derrota.	15 The very springs of ocean were exposed, the world's foundations were laid bare, at your roaring,Yahweh, at the blast of breath from your nostrils!
16 El fondo del mar quedó a la vista, los cimientos del orbe aparecieron, ante tu imprecación, Yahveh, al resollar el aliento en tus narices.	16 He reached down from on high, snatched me up, pulled me from the watery depths,
17 El extiende su mano de lo alto para asirme, para sacarme de las profundas aguas;	17 rescued me from my mighty foe, from my enemies who were stronger than I.
18 me libera de un enemigo poderoso, de mis adversarios más fuertes que yo.	18 They assailed me on my day of disaster but Yahweh was there to support me;
19 Me aguardaban el día de mi ruina, más Yahveh fue un apoyo para mí;	19 he freed me, set me at large, he rescued me because he loves me.
20 me sacó a espacio abierto, me salvó porque me amaba.	20 Yahweh rewards me for my uprightness, as my hands are pure, so he repays me,
21 Yahveh me recompensa conforme a mi justicia, me paga conforme a la pureza de mis manos;	21 since I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and not fallen away from my God.
22 porque he guardado los caminos de Yahveh, y no he hecho el mal lejos de mi Dios.	22 His judgements are al before me, his statutes I have not put away from me.
23 Porque tengo ante mí todos sus juicios, y sus preceptos no aparto de mi lado;	23 I am blameless before him, I keep myself clear of evil.
24 he sido ante él irreprochable, y de incurrir en culpa me he guardado.	24 So Yahweh repaid me for acting uprightly because he could see I was pure.
25 Y Yahveh me devuelve según mi justicia, según la pureza de mis manos que tiene ante sus ojos.	25 You are faithful to the faithful, blameless with the blameless,
26 Con el piadoso eres piadoso, intachable con el hombre sin tacha;	26 sincere to the sincere, but cunning to the crafty,
27 con el puro eres puro, con el ladino, sagaz;	27 you save a people that is humble and humiliate those with haughty looks.
28 tú que salvas al pueblo humilde, y abates los ojos altaneros.	28 Yahweh, you yourself are my lamp, my God lights up my darkness;
29 Tú eres, Yahveh, mi lámpara, mi Dios que alumbra mis tinieblas;	29 with you I storm the rampart, with my God I can scale any wal .
30 con tu ayuda las hordas acometo, con mi Dios escalo la muralla.	30 This God, his way is blameless; the word of Yahweh is refined in the furnace, for he alone is theshield of al who take refuge in him.
31 Dios es perfecto en sus caminos, la palabra de Yahveh acrisolada. El es el escudo de cuantos a él se acogen.	31 For who is God but Yahweh, who is a rock but our God?
32 Pues ¿quién es Dios fuera de Yahveh? ¿Quién Roca, sino sólo nuestro Dios?	32 This God who girds me with strength, who makes my way free from blame,
33 El Dios que me ciñe de fuerza, y hace mi camino irreprochable,	33 who makes me as swift as a deer and sets me firmly on the heights,
34 que hace mis pies como de ciervas, y en las alturas me sostiene en pie,	34 who trains my hands for battle, my arms to bend a bow of bronze.
35 el que mis manos para el combate adiestra y mis brazos para tensar arco de bronce.	35 You give me your invincible shield (your right hand upholds me) you never cease to listen to me,
36 Tú me das tu escudo salvador, (tu diestra me sostiene), tu cuidado me exalta,	36 you give me the strides of a giant, give me ankles that never weaken.
37 mis pasos ensanchas ante mí, no se tuercen mis tobillos.	37 I pursue my enemies and overtake them, not turning back til they are annihilated;
38 Persigo a mis enemigos, les doy caza, no vuelvo hasta haberlos acabado;	38 I strike them down and they cannot rise, they fall, they are under my feet.
39 los quebranto, no pueden levantarse, sucumben debajo de mis pies.	39 You have girded me with strength for the fight, bent down my assailants beneath me,
40 Para el combate de fuerza me ciñes, doblegas bajo mí a mis agresores,	40 made my enemies retreat before me; and those who hate me I destroy.
41 a mis enemigos haces dar la espalda, extermino a los que me odian.	41 They cry out, there is no one to save; to Yahweh, but no answer comes.
42 Claman, mas no hay salvador, a Yahveh, y no les responde.	42 I crumble them like dust before the wind, trample them like the mud of the streets.
43 Los machaco como polvo al viento, como al barro de las calles los piso.	43 You free me from the quarrels of my people, you place me at the head of the nations, a people I didnot know are now my servants;
44 De las querellas de mi pueblo tú me libras, me pones a la cabeza de las gentes; pueblos que no conocía me sirven;	44 foreigners come wooing my favour, no sooner do they hear than they obey me;
45 los hijos de extranjeros me adulan, son todo oídos, me obedecen,	45 foreigners grow faint of heart, they come trembling out of their fastnesses.
46 los hijos de extranjeros desmayan, y dejan temblando sus refugios.	46 Life to Yahweh! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be the God of my salvation,
47 ¡Viva Yahveh, bendita sea mi roca, el Dios de mi salvación sea ensalzado,	47 the God who gives me vengeance, and subjects whole peoples to me,
48 el Dios que la venganza me concede y abate los pueblos a mis plantas!	48 who rescues me from my raging enemies. You lift me high above those who attack me, you deliverme from the man of violence.
49 Tú me libras de mis enemigos, me exaltas sobre mis agresores, del hombre violento me salvas.	49 For this I wil praise you, Yahweh, among the nations, and sing praise to your name.
50 Por eso he de alabarte entre los pueblos, a tu nombre, Yahveh, salmodiaré.	50 He saves his king time after time, displays his faithful love for his anointed, for David and his heirs forever.
51 El hace grandes las victorias de su rey y muestra su amor a su ungido, a David y a su linaje para siempre.
