NOVA VULGATANEW JERUSALEM
Nolite iudicare, ut non iudice mini;1 'Do not judge, and you will not be judged;
in quo enim iudicio iudicaveritis, iudicabimini, et in qua mensura mensi fueritis, metietur vobis.2 because the judgements you give are the judgements you wil get, and the standard you use wil be thestandard used for you.
Quid autem vides festucam in oculo fratris tui, et trabem in oculo tuo nonvides?3 Why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the great log in your own?
Aut quomodo dices fratri tuo: “Sine, eiciam festucam de oculo tuo”,et ecce trabes est in oculo tuo?4 And how dare you say to your brother, "Let me take that splinter out of your eye," when, look, there is agreat log in your own?
Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you wil see clearly enough to take thesplinter out of your brother's eye.
Nolite dare sanctum canibus neque mittatis margaritas vestras ante porcos, neforte conculcent eas pedibus suis et conversi dirumpant vos.
'Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs, or they may trample themand then turn on you and tear you to pieces.
Petite, et dabitur vobis; quaerite et invenietis; pulsate, et aperietur vobis.7 'Ask, and it wil be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
Omnis enim qui petit, accipit; et, qui quaerit, invenit; et pulsantiaperietur.8 Everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks will have the dooropened.
Aut quis est ex vobis homo, quem si petierit filius suus panem, numquid lapidem porriget ei?9 Is there anyone among you who would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread?
Aut si piscem petierit, numquid serpentemporriget ei?10 Or would hand him a snake when he asked for a fish?
If you, then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more wil yourFather in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
'So always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that is the Law and the Prophets.
Intrate per angustam portam, quia lata porta et spatiosa via, quae ducit adperditionem, et multi sunt, qui intrant per eam;13 'Enter by the narrow gate, since the road that leads to destruction is wide and spacious, and manytake it;
but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Attendite a falsis prophetis, qui veniunt ad vos in vestimentis ovium, intrinsecus autem sunt lupi rapaces.15 'Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves.
A fructibus eorum cognoscetis eos;numquid colligunt de spinis uvas aut de tribulis ficus?16 You wil be able to tel them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
Sic omnis arbor bonafructus bonos facit, mala autem arbor fructus malos facit;17 In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit.
non potest arborbona fructus malos facere, neque arbor mala fructus bonos facere.18 A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit.
Omnisarbor, quae non facit fructum bonum, exciditur et in ignem mittitur.19 Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire.
Igiturex fructibus eorum cognoscetis eos.
I repeat, you wil be able to tel them by their fruits.
It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who wil enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the personwho does the wil of my Father in heaven.
Multi dicent mihi inilla die: “Domine, Domine, nonne in tuo nomine prophetavimus, et in tuo nominedaemonia eiecimus, et in tuo nomine virtutes multas fecimus?”.22 When the day comes many wil say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, drive outdemons in your name, work many miracles in your name?"
Et tuncconfitebor illis: Numquam novi vos; discedite a me, qui operamini iniquitatem.
Then I shal tel them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, al evil doers!
Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock.
Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fal :it was founded on rock.
But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid manwho built his house on sand.
Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!'
Et factum est, cum consummasset Iesus verba haec, admirabantur turbae superdoctrinam eius;28 Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on thepeople
because he taught them with authority, unlike their own scribes.
