1 E alcuni che eran venuti dalla Giudea, insegnavano ai fratelli: se voi non vi circoncidete secondo il rito di Mosè, non potete essere salvi.	1 And certain ones, descending from Judea, were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
2 Essendovi adunque stato non piccol contrasto di Paolo, e di Barnaba con essi, fu stabilito, che Paolo e Barnaba, e alcuni dell'altra parte andassero per tal questione a Gerusalemme dagli Apostoli, e da' seniori.	2 Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas made no small uprising against them, they decided that Paul and Barnabas, and some from the opposing side, should go up to the Apostles and priests in Jerusalem concerning this question.
3 Eglino adunque accompagnati dalla Chiesa si partirono, e passarono per la Fenicia, e per la Samaria, raccontando la conversione delle genti, e apportando grande allegrezza a tutti i fratelli.	3 Therefore, being led by the church, they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles. And they caused great joy among all the brothers.
4 E arrivati a Gerusalemme furono ricevuti dalla Chiesa, e dagli Apostoli, e da' seniori, e raccontarono, quanto grandi cose avesse Dio fatte con essi.	4 And when they had arrived in Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the Apostles and the elders, reporting what great things God had done with them.
5 Ma (dicevano) si sono levati su alcuni della setta de' Farisei, i quali hanno creduto, e dicono, che è necessario, che essi si circoncidano, e si intimi loro l'osservanza della legge di Mosè.	5 But some from the sect of the Pharisees, those who were believers, rose up saying, “It is necessary for them to be circumcised and to be instructed to keep the Law of Moses.”
6 E si adunarono gli Apostoli, e i sacerdoti per disaminar questa cosa.	6 And the Apostles and elders came together to take care of this matter.
7 E dopo matura discussione alzatosi Pietro disse loro: uomini fratelli, voi sapete, come fin da principio Dio fra noi elesse, che per bocca mia udisser i Gentili la parola del Vangelo, credessero.	7 And after a great contention had taken place, Peter rose up and said to them: “Noble brothers, you know that, in recent days, God has chosen from among us, by my mouth, Gentiles to hear the word of the Gospel and to believe.
8 E Dio, conoscitore de' cuori si dichiarò per essi, dando loro lo Spirito santo, come anche a noi,	8 And God, who knows hearts, offered testimony, by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as to us.
9 E non fece differenza alcuna tra loro e noi, purificando con la fede i loro cuori.	9 And he distinguished nothing between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Adesso adunque perché tentate voi Dio per imporre sul collo de' discepoli un giogo, che né i padri nostri, né noi abbiamo potuto portare?	10 Now therefore, why do you tempt God to impose a yoke upon the necks of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?
11 Ma per la grazia del Signore Gesù Cristo crediamo essere salvati nello stesso modo, che essi.	11 But by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we believe in order to be saved, in the same manner also as them.”
12 E tutta la moltitudine si tacque: e ascoltavano Barnaba, e Paolo raccontare, quanti segni, e miracoli avesse fatti Dio fra le genti per mezzo di essi.	12 Then the entire multitude was silent. And they were listening to Barnabas and Paul, describing what great signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles through them.
13 E dopo che questi ebber fatto silenzio, rispose Giacomo, e disse: uomini fratelli ascoltate me.	13 And after they had been silent, James responded by saying: “Noble brothers, listen to me.
14 Simone ha raccontato, come da principio Dio dispose di prendere dalle genti un popolo pel suo nome.	14 Simon has explained in what manner God first visited, so as to take from the Gentiles a people to his name.
15 E con questo vanno d'accordo le parole de' profeti, come sta scritto:	15 And the words of the Prophets are in agreement with this, just as it was written:
16 Dopo queste cose io ritornerò, o riedificherò il tabernacolo di Davidde che è caduto: e ristorerò le sue rovine, e lo rimetterò in piedi:	16 ‘After these things, I will return, and I will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down. And I will rebuild its ruins, and I will raise it up,
17 Affinchè cerchino il Signore tutti gli altri uomini, e le genti tutte, sopra le quali è stato invocato il nome mio, dice il Signore, che fa queste cose.	17 so that the rest of men may seek the Lord, along with all the nations over whom my name has been invoked, says the Lord, who does these things.’
18 E nota ab eterno a Dio l'opera sua.	18 To the Lord, his own work has been known from eternity.
19 Quindi io pudico, che non s' inquietino quelli, che dal gentilesimo si convertono a Dio;	19 Because of this, I judge that those who were converted to God from among the Gentiles are not to be disturbed,
20 Ma che scrivasi loro, che astengansi dalle immondezze degli idoli, e dalla fornicazione, e dal soffogato, e dal sangue.	20 but instead that we write to them, that they should keep themselves from the defilement of idols, and from fornication, and from whatever has been suffocated, and from blood.
21 Imperocché Mosè fino dagli antichi tempi ha in ciascuna città chi lo predica nelle Sinagoghe, dove vien letto ogni Sabbato.	21 For Moses, from ancient times, has had in each city those who preach him in the synagogues, where he is read on every Sabbath.”
22 Allora piacque agli Apostoli, e a' sacerdoti con tutta la Chiesa, che si mandassero persone elette de' loro ad Antiochia con Paolo e Barnaba, cioè Giuda soprannominato Barsaba, e Sita, uomini de' primi tra i fratelli,	22 Then it pleased the Apostles and elders, with the whole Church, to choose men from among them, and to send to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas, and Judas, who was surnamed Barsabbas, and Silas, preeminent men among the brothers,
23 Ponendo nelle loro mani questa lettera: gli Apostoli, e i sacerdoti fratelli ai fratelli Gentili, che sono in Antiochia, nella Siria, e nella Cilicia, salute.	23 what was written by their own hands: “The Apostles and elders, brothers, to those who are at Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, brothers from the Gentiles, greetings.
24 Giacché abbiamo udito, che i discorsi di alcuni venuti da noi (a' quali non ne abbiam dato commissione) vi hanno arrecato turbamento, sconvolgendo gli animi vostri:	24 Since we have heard that some, going out from among us, have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, to whom we gave no commandment,
25 E partito a noi radunati insieme di eleggere alcuni uomini e mandargli a voi con i carissimi nostri Barnaba e Paolo,	25 it pleased us, being assembled as one, to choose men and to send them to you, with our most beloved Barnabas and Paul:
26 Uomini, che hanno esposte le loro vite pel nome del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.	26 men who have handed over their lives on behalf of the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
27 Abbiam pertanto mandato Giuda e Sila, i quali vi riferiranno anch' essi a bocca le stesse cose.	27 Therefore, we have sent Judas and Silas, who themselves also will, with the spoken word, reaffirm to you the same things.
28 Imperocché è paruto allo Spirito santo, e a noi, di non imporre a voi altro peso, fuori di queste cose necessarie:	28 For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to impose no further burden upon you, other than these necessary things:
29 Che vi astenghiate dalle cose immolate agli idoli, e dal sangue, e dal soffocato, e dalla fornicazione; dalle quali cose guardandovi, ben farete. State sani.	29 that you abstain from things immolated to idols, and from blood, and from what has been suffocated, and from fornication. You will do well to keep yourselves from these things. Farewell.”
30 Quegli adunque licenziatisi andarono ad Antiochia: e raunata la moltitudine, consegnaron la lettera.	30 And so, having been dismissed, they went down to Antioch. And gathering the multitude together, they delivered the epistle.
31 Letta la quale si rallegrarono della consolazione.	31 And when they had read it, they were gladdened by this consolation.
32 Giuda poi, e Sila, essendo anch'essi profeti, con lunghi ragionamenti consolarono, e confortarono i fratelli.	32 But Judas and Silas, being also prophets themselves, consoled the brothers with many words, and they were strengthened.
33 Ed essendosi ivi trattenuti per qualche tempo furono dai fratelli rimandati in pace a que' che gli avevano inviati.	33 Then, after spending some more time there, they were dismissed with peace, by the brothers, to those who had sent them.
34 Piacque però a Sila di restar ivi: e Giuda solo se n' andò a Gerusalemme.	34 But it seemed good to Silas to remain there. So Judas alone departed to Jerusalem.
35 Paolo poi, e Barnaba dimoravano in Antiochia, insegnando, ed evangelizzando con molti altri la parola del Signore.	35 And Paul and Barnabas remained at Antioch, with many others, teaching and evangelizing the Word of the Lord.
36 E dopo alcuni giorni disse Paolo a Barnaba: torniamo a visitare i fratelli in tutte le città, nelle quali abbiam predicato la parola del Signore (per vedere) come se la passino.	36 Then, after some days, Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us return to visit the brothers throughout all the cities in which we have preached the Word of the Lord, to see how they are.”
37 Ma Barnaba voleva prender seco anche Giovanni soprannominato Marco.	37 And Barnabas wanted to take John, who was surnamed Mark, with them also.
38 E Paolo gli metteva in vista, che uno, che si era ritirato da essi nella Panfilia, e non era andato con loro a quella impresa, non doveva riceversi.	38 But Paul was saying that he ought not to be received, since he withdrew from them at Pamphylia, and he had not gone with them in the work.
39 E ne segui dissensione, di modo che si separarono l'uno dall'altro; e Barnaba preso seco Marco navigò a Cipro.	39 And there occurred a dissension, to such an extent that they departed from one another. And Barnabas, indeed taking Mark, sailed to Cyprus.
40 E Paolo elettosi Sila si partì raccommandato da' fratelli alla grazia di Dio.	40 Yet truly, Paul, choosing Silas, set out, being delivered by the brothers to the grace of God.
41 E fece il giro della Siria e della Cilicia, confermando le Chiese: comandando, che si osservassero gli ordini degli Apostoli, e de' sacerdoti.	41 And he traveled through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the Churches, instructing them to keep the precepts of the Apostles and the elders.
