Prima lettera ai Corinzi 9

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Non son io libero? Non sono apostolo? Non ho io veduto Gesù Cristo Signor nostro? Non siete pvoi opera mia nel Signore?	1 Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?
2 E se per altri non sono apostolo, per voi lo sono certamente, perchè voi siete il sigillo del mio apostoalato nel Signore.	2 Even if to others I am not an apostle, to you at any rate I am, for you are the seal of my apostolate inthe Lord.
3 Ecco la mia difesa di fronte a quelli che fan delle inchieste sul mio conto.	3 To those who want to interrogate me, this is my answer.
4 Non abbiamo noi il diritto di mangiare e di bere?	4 Have we not every right to eat and drink?
5 Non abbiamo diritto di portare con noi una donna sorella, come fan gli altri apostoli e i fratelli del Signore e Cefa?	5 And every right to be accompanied by a Christian wife, like the other apostles, like the brothers of theLord, and like Cephas?
6 Soltanto dunque io e Barnaba non abbiamo diritto di far queste cose?	6 Are Barnabas and I the only ones who have no right to stop working?
7 Chi è mai che militi a proprie spese? Chi è che pianti una vigna e non ne mangi i frutti? Chi pasce il gregge senza cibarsi del latte di esso?	7 What soldier would ever serve in the army at his own expense? And who is there who would plant avineyard and never eat the fruit from it; or would keep a flock and not feed on the milk from his flock?
8 Forse in questo parlo da uomo? Non lo dice forse anche la legge?	8 Do not think that this is merely worldly wisdom. Does not the Law say exactly the same? It is written inthe Law of Moses:
9 Sta scritto infatti nella legge di Mosè: Non metter la muserola al bove che trebbia il grano. Che forse Dio si dà pena dei bovi?	9 You must not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the corn. Is it about oxen that God is concernedhere,
10 O, senza forse, dice questo proprio per noi? Sì, proprio per noi sono state scritte queste cose, perchè chi ara deve arare con speranza, e chi trebbia il grano, colla speranza di averne la sua parte.	10 or is it not said entirely for our sake? Clearly it was written for our sake, because it is right thatwhoever ploughs should plough with the expectation of having his share, and whoever threshes should threshwith the expectation of having his share.
11 Or se noi abbiamo seminato per voi dei beni spirituali, sarebbe un gran che se mietessimo dei beni materiali?	11 If we have sown the seed of spiritual things in you, is it too much to ask that we should receive fromyou a crop of material things?
12 E se altri godono di questo diritto, perchè, e con più ragione, non possiamo goderne anche noi? Noi però non abbiamo fatto uso di questo diritto, ma tutto sopportiamo per non creare ostacoli al Vangelo di Gesù Cristo.	12 Others have been given such rights over you and do we not deserve more? In fact, we have neverexercised this right; on the contrary, we have put up with anything rather than obstruct the gospel of Christ in anyway.
13 Non sapete voi che i ministri del tempio vivono del tempio, e che quelli i quali servono all'altare hanno parte all'altare?	13 Do you not realise that the ministers in the Temple get their food from the Temple, and those whoserve at the altar can claim their share from the altar?
14 Così pure ha ordinato il Signore a quelli che annunziano il Vangelo, di vivere del Vangelo.	14 In the same way, the Lord gave the instruction that those who preach the gospel should get their livingfrom the gospel.
15 Io però ho mai fatto uso di uno di questi diritti, nè ho scritto queste cose per farli valere in mio favore, perchè bramerei piuttosto morire che perdere questo vanto.	15 However, I have never availed myself of any rights of this kind; and I have not written this to securesuch treatment for myself; I would rather die than that . . . No one shal take from me this ground of boasting.
16 Infatti l'annunziare il Vangelo non è per me una gloria, perchè ne ho l'obbligo, e guai a me se non avrò annunziato il Vangelo.	16 In fact, preaching the gospel gives me nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion and I should bein trouble if I failed to do it.
17 Se lo facessi di mio genio, meriterei una ricompensa; ma se lo faccio perchè mi è comandato, vuol dire che è un incarico affidatomi.	17 If I did it on my own initiative I would deserve a reward; but if I do it under compulsion I am simplyaccepting a task entrusted to me.
18 Qual'è dunque la mia ricompensa? Questa: di offrire gratuitamente il Vangelo quando l'annunzio, senza abusare dei miei diritti nel predicarlo.	18 What reward do I have, then? That in my preaching I offer the gospel free of charge to avoid using therights which the gospel al ows me.
19 Infatti, essendo io libero da tutti, mi son fatto servo di tutti, per guadagnarne maggior numero.	19 So though I was not a slave to any human being, I put myself in slavery to al people, to win as manyas I could.
20 Coi Giudei mi son fatto Giudeo, per guadagnare i Giudei;	20 To the Jews I made myself as a Jew, to win the Jews; to those under the Law as one under the Law(though I am not), in order to win those under the Law;
21 con quelli sottoposti alla legge son diventato come soggetto alla legge (quantunque non ci sia sottoposto) per guadagnare quelli che sono sotto la legge; con quelli che erano senza legge, mi son fatto come se fossi senza legge (sebbene io non sia senza la legge di Dio, anzi sia sotto la legge di Cristo), per guadagnare quelli che erano senza legge.	21 to those outside the Law as one outside the Law, though I am not outside the Law but under Christ'slaw, to win those outside the Law.
22 Mi son fatto debole coi deboli, per guadagnare i deboli. Mi son fatto tutto a tutti per salvare tutti.	22 To the weak, I made myself weak, to win the weak. I accommodated myself to people in all kinds ofdifferent situations, so that by al possible means I might bring some to salvation.
23 E tutto faccio pel Vangelo, per averci parte.	23 Al this I do for the sake of the gospel, that I may share its benefits with others.
24 Non sapete voi che nelle cor­se dello stadio corrono sì tutti, ma uno solo ottiene il premio? Anche voi correte in modo da ottenerlo.	24 Do you not realise that, though al the runners in the stadium take part in the race, only one of themgets the prize? Run like that -- to win.
25 Tutti i lottatori si sottopongono ad ogni sorta di astinenze, e lo fanno per una corona corruttibile; ma noi lo facciamo per ottenere una corona eterna.	25 Every athlete concentrates completely on training, and this is to win a wreath that wil wither, whereasours wil never wither.
26 Io poi corro in questa maniera e non come a caso, così combatto, e non come chi batte l'aria;	26 So that is how I run, not without a clear goal; and how I box, not wasting blows on air.
27 ma tratto duramente il mio corpo e lo costringo a servire, affinchè, dopo aver predicato agli altri, non diventi reprobo io stesso.	27 I punish my body and bring it under control, to avoid any risk that, having acted as herald for others, Imyself may be disqualified.
