Prima lettera ai Corinzi 2

BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Io poi, o fratelli, quando venni da voi, venni non con sublimità di ragionamento o di sapienza ad annunziarvi la testimonianza di Cristo;	1 Now when I came to you, brothers, I did not come with any brilliance of oratory or wise argument toannounce to you the mystery of God.
2 perchè non mi credetti saper altro tra di voi che Gesù Cristo e lui crocifisso.	2 I was resolved that the only knowledge I would have while I was with you was knowledge of Jesus, andof him as the crucified Christ.
3 E fui presso di voi come un debole, con timore e trepidazione,	3 I came among you in weakness, in fear and great trembling
4 e il mio discorso e la mia predicazione non consistè in persuasivi argomenti della sapienza umana, ma nella manifestazione dello Spirito della virtù,	4 and what I spoke and proclaimed was not meant to convince by philosophical argument, but todemonstrate the convincing power of the Spirit,
5 affinchè la vostra fede non fosse fondata sulla sapienza degli uomini, ma sulla potenza di Dio.	5 so that your faith should depend not on human wisdom but on the power of God.
6 Nondimeno tra i perfetti noi parliamo di sapienza; sapienza però che non è di questo secolo, nè dei principi di questo secolo, che saranno annientati;	6 But stil , to those who have reached maturity, we do talk of a wisdom, not, it is true, a philosophy of thisage or of the rulers of this age, who will not last long now.
7 ma parliamo della sapienza misteriosa e occulta di Dio, che Dio avanti i secoli aveva destinata per la nostra gloria,	7 It is of the mysterious wisdom of God that we talk, the wisdom that was hidden, which God predestinedto be for our glory before the ages began.
8 che nessuno dei principi di questo mondo ha conosciuta; chè se l'avessero conosciuta, non avrebbero giammai crocifisso il Signore della gloria.	8 None of the rulers of the age recognised it; for if they had recognised it, they would not have crucifiedthe Lord of glory;
9 Ma come sta scritto: Son cose che l'occhio non vide, l'orecchio non udì, (cose) che non entrarono mai nel cuore dell'uomo, quelle che Dio ha preparate per coloro cho lo amano.	9 but it is as scripture says: What no eye has seen and no ear has heard, what the mind of man cannotvisualise; al that God has prepared for those who love him;
10 A noi però Dio le ha rivelate per mezzo del suo Spirito, perchè lo Spirito scruta togni cosa, anche le profondità di Dio.	10 to us, though, God has given revelation through the Spirit, for the Spirit explores the depths ofeverything, even the depths of God.
11 Infatti, chi fra gli uomioni conosce le cose dell'uomo, se non lo spirito che è nell'uomo? Cosi le cose di Dio nessuno le conosce se non lo Spirito di Dio.	11 After al , is there anyone who knows the qualities of anyone except his own spirit, within him; and inthe same way, nobody knows the qualities of God except the Spirit of God.
12 Noi però abbiamo ricevuto non lo spirito di questo mondo, ma lo Spirito che viene da Dio, per sapere quali cose da Dio siano state a noi donate;	12 Now, the Spirit we have received is not the spirit of the world but God's own Spirit, so that we mayunderstand the lavish gifts God has given us.
13 e ne parliamo non con parole suggerite della sapienza umana, ma colla dottrina dello Spirito, adattando parole spirituali a cose spirituali.	13 And these are what we speak of, not in the terms learnt from human philosophy, but in terms learntfrom the Spirit, fitting spiritual language to spiritual things.
14 Ma l'uomo animale non capisce le cose dello Spirito di Dio: son per lui stoltezza, e non le può comprendere, perchè vari giudicate spiritualmente.	14 The natural person has no room for the gifts of God's Spirit; to him they are folly; he cannot recognisethem, because their value can be assessed only in the Spirit.
15 L'uomo spirituale invece giudica di ogni cosa, e lui non è giudicato da nessuno.	15 The spiritual person, on the other hand, can assess the value of everything, and that person's valuecannot be assessed by anybody else.
16 Chi ha infatti conosciuto il pensiero del Signore, per ammaestrarlo? Ma noi lo possediamo il pensiero di Cristo.	16 For: who has ever known the mind of the Lord? Who has ever been his adviser? But we are thosewho have the mind of Christ.
