1 E la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:	1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
2 « Or tu, o figlio dell'uomo, pronunzia questa lamentazione sopra Tiro,	2 Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus;
3 che abita all'entrata del mare, al mercato dei popoli per le numerose isole: Così parla il Signore Dio: O Tiro, tu hai detto: « Io sono di perfetta bellezza	3 And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.
4 e situata nel cuore del mare ». I tuoi vicini che ti edificarono ti resero perfettamente bella:	4 Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.
5 cogli abeti del Sanir fabbricarono te e tutti i palchi (delle navi) del mare; presero il cedro del Libano per farti l'albero maestro,	5 They have made all thy ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee.
6 lavorarono le querce del Basan per farne i tuoi remi. I tuoi banchi te li fecero d'avorio indiano, le cabine (con legni) delle isole d'Italia,	6 Of the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim.
7 il variopinto bisso dell'Egitto è stato tessuto in forma di vela per te, per esser posto sopra l'albero maestro, il giacinto e la porpora dell'isola d'Elisa han formata la tua coperta.	7 Fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee.
8 Gli abitanti di Sidone e di Arad erano i tuoi remiganti, i tuoi sapienti, o Tiro, divenivano i tuoi piloti.	8 The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.
9 I vegliardi di Gibbo, i più abili di essa ebbero nocchieri a servizio del tuo equipaggio. Tutte le navi del mare e tutti i loro marinai eran tra il popolo del tuo mercato.	9 The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.
10 Persiani, Lidii e Libici erano nella tua armata come tuoi uomini di guerra, appendevano in te lo scudo e l'elmo, a tuo ornamento.	10 They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.
11 I figli di Arad colle tue schiere stavano all'intorno sopra le tue mura, ed anche i pigmei che erano sopra le tue torri, appendevano i loro turcassi tutt'all'intorno alle tuo mura, e così compivano la tua bellezza.	11 The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.
12 I Cartaginesi, tuoi mercanti, coll'abbondanza di tutte le ricchezze, con argento, ferro, stagno e piombo, riempivano i tuoi mercati.	12 Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.
13 La Grecia, Tubai e Mosoc, anch'essi negoziavano con te, portando al tuo popolo schiavi e vasi di rame.	13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.
14 Dalla dimora di Togorma portavano cavalli e cavalieri e muli al tuo mercato.	14 They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules.
15 I figli di Dedan erano tuoi negozianti, il mercato delle molte isole era nelle tue mani, esse davano come pagamento denti d'avorio e l'ebano.	15 The men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.
16 Il Siro trafficava con te, e per la moltitudine delle tue manifatture esponeva sui tuoi mercati gemme, porpora, ricami, bisso, seta e chodchod,	16 Syria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.
17 ed anche Giuda e la terra d'Israele negoziavan con te, esponendo ai tuoi mercati il miglior frumento, il balsamo, il miele, l'olio, la resina.	17 Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.
18 Il Damasceno trafficava con te, (dando) per la moltitudine delle tue manifatture molte e varie ricchezze, vino pregiato e lane di ottimo colore.	18 Damascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.
19 Dan, la Grecia e Mosel esponevano ai tuoi mercati il ferro lavorato, nei tuoi negozi c'era la stacte e la cannella;	19 Dan also and Javan going to and fro occupied in thy fairs: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.
20 Dedan commerciava con te con tappeti da sedere.	20 Dedan was thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.
21 L'Arabia e tutti i principi di Cedar trafficavan per mezzo di te, con agnelli, arieti, capretti venivano a te come tuoi mercanti.	21 Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with thee in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these were they thy merchants.
22 I mercanti di Saba e di Boema commerciavano con te con tutti i migliori aromi, con pietre preziose e oro, che esponevano nei tuoi mercati.	22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.
23 Haran, Chene, Eden erano tuoi negozianti, Saba, Assur, Chelmad, tuoi venditori.	23 Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Assur, and Chilmad, were thy merchants.
24 Essi facevano con te commercio di varie cose con balle di giacinio, di tessuto a diversi colori e preziosi tesori, involti e stretti con funi, avevano anche i cedri nei tuoi mercati.	24 These were thy merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.
25 Le navi del mare erano i tuoi principi nel tuo mercato. Tu divenisti piena (di ricchezze) e altamente glorificata in mezzo al mare,	25 The ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.
26 i tuoi remiganti ti condussero in alto mare, il vento australe ti fracassò in mezzo al mare.	26 Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.
27 Le tue ricchezze, i tuoi tesori, il tuo numeroso equipaggio, i tuoi marinai, i tuoi piloti, che avevano in custodia le tue cose ed erano a capo del tuo popolo, ed anche i tuoi uomini di guerra che erano in te, con tutta la tua moltitudine che è dentro di te, cadranno in mezzo al mare nel giorno della tua rovina.	27 Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.
28 Al rumor delle grida dei tuoi piloti tremeranno le flotte,	28 The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.
29 e scenderanno dalle loro navi tutti quelli che maneggiano il remo, i marinai e tutti i piloti del mare staran sulla terra.	29 And all that handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land;
30 Ed urleranno con gran voce su di te e grideranno amaramente, e getteranno della polvere sulle loro teste e si copriranno di cenere.	30 And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:
31 E per te si raderan la testa, e si vestiran di cilizi, e ti piangeranno nell'amarezza dell'anima con pianto amarissimo.	31 And they shall make themselves utterly bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.
32 E canteranno sopra te un lugubre carme e ti piangeranno (dicendo): « Chi è come Tiro, che se ne sta muta in mezzo al mare?	32 And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?
33 Tu, coll'uscir sul mare ai tuoi commerci soddisfacesti le brame di molte nazioni, e coll'abbondanza delle tue ricchezze e della tua gente facesti ricchi i re della terra:	33 When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.
34 ora sei fatta in pezzi dal mare e le tue ricchezze sono in fondo alle acque, e tutta la moltitudine che era in te è perita.	34 In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.
35 Tutti gli abitanti delle isole sono per te nello stupore, e tutti i loro re, colpiti dalla tempesta, hanno il viso stravolto.	35 All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance.
36 I mercanti dei popoli han fischiato sopra di te: tu sei ridotta al niente e non sarai più in perpetuo ».	36 The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.
