1 E il Signore mi parlò e mi disse:	1 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
2 « Figlio dell'uomo, fa conoscere a Gerusalemme le sue abominazioni,	2 Son of man, make known to Jerusalem her abominations.
3 e di': Così parla il Signore Dio a Gerusalemme: Per origine e per nascita sei della terra di Canaan: tuo padre è l'Amorreo, tua madre è Cetea.	3 And thou shalt say: Thus saith the Lord God to Jerusalem: Thy root, and thy nativity is of the land of Chanaan, thy father was an Amorrhite, and thy mother a Cethite.
4 Quando nascesti, il giorno in cui venisti alla luce, non ti fu tagliato l'ombelico, non fosti lavata con acqua salutare, non aspersa di sale, non involta in fasce.	4 And when thou wast born, in the day of thy nativity thy navel wits not cut, neither wast thou washed with water for thy health, nor salted with salt, nor swaddled with clouts.
5 Nessun occhio ebbe pietà di te, da farti una di queste cose, ma fosti gettata per terra, con disprezzo della tua vita, il giorno che nascesti.	5 No eye had pity on thee to do any of these things for thee, out of compassion to thee: but thou wast cast out upon the face of the earth in the abjection of thy soul, in the day that thou wast born.
6 Ma io passandoti vicino e vedendoti calpestata nel tuo sangue, ti dissi, mentre eri nel tuo sangue: « Vivi — ti dissi — anche immersa nel tuo sangue, vivi! »	6 And passing by thee, I saw that thou wast trodden under foot in thy own blood. and I said to thee when thou wast in thy blood: Live: I have said to thee: Live in thy blood.
7 Ti feci crescere come l'erba del campo, e crescesti e divenisti grande, ed entrasti (nell'età di prendere) gli ornamenti femminili, il tuo petto crebbe ed arrivasti alla pubertà: eri nuda e piena di vergogna.	7 I caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field: and thou didst increase and grow great, and advancedst, and camest to woman's ornament: thy breasts were fashioned, and thy hair grew: and thou wast naked, and full of confusion.
8 Ed io ti passai vicino e ti vidi, e venuto il tuo tempo, il tempo degli amanti, io stesi il mio manto sopra di te e copersi la tua nudità e ti feci un giuramento, e feci con te un patto — dice il Signore Dio — e tu fosti mia.	8 And I passed by thee, and saw thee: and behold thy time was the time of lovers : and I spread my garment over thee, and covered thy ignominy. And I swore to thee, and I entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord God: and thou becamest mine.
9 Ed io ti lavai con acqua, ti purificai dal tuo sangue e ti unsi con olio.	9 And I washed thee with water, and cleansed away thy blood from thee: and I anointed thee with oil.
10 E ti vestii di abiti ricamati, ti diedi calzari di giacinto, cintura di bisso, ti coprii delle vesti più fine.	10 And I clothed thee with embroidery, and shed thee with violet coloured shoes : and I girded thee about with fine linen, and clothed thee with fine garments.
11 E ti adornai di gioielli, misi i braccialetti alle tue mani e la collana al tuo collo,	11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and put bracelets on thy hands, and a chain about thy neck.
12 e misi sopra la tua bocca un anello, gli orecchini alle tue orecchie e una bella corona sopra la tua testa.	12 And I put a jewel upon thy forehead and earrings in thy ears, and a beautiful crown upon thy head.
13 E tu fosti adorna d'oro e d'argento, vestita di bisso e di abiti ricamati a vari colori. Ti nutristi di fior di farina, di miele e di olio, e diventasti straordinariamente bella, e arrivasti a regnare.	13 And thou wast adorned with gold, and silver, and wast clothed with fine linen, and embroidered work, and many colours: thou didst eat fine hour, and honey, and oil, and wast made exceeding beautiful: and wast advanced to be a queen.
14 E il tuo nome si sparse tra le nazioni a motivo della tua bellezza, essendo tu perfetta per il mio splendore che avevo posto su te — dice il Signore Dio.	14 And thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty: for thou wast perfect through my beauty, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God.
15 E, superba di tua bellezza, ti servisti del tuo nome per fornicare e ti esponesti a fornicare con chiunque passasse per la strada in modo da diventare sua.	15 But trusting in thy beauty, thou playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and thou hast prostituted thyself to every passenger, to be his.
16 E prese le tue vesti te ne facesti degli abiti lunghi, cucendole da un lato e dall'altro, e sopra di essi ti prostituisti in un modo che non lù nè sarà mai.	16 And taking of thy garments thou hast made thee high places sewed together on each side: and hast played the harlot upon them, as hath not been done before, nor shall be hereafter.
17 E presi gli ornamenti della tua bellezza, fatti col mio oro e col mio argento, che ti avevo dati, ne facesti imagini	17 And thou tookest thy beautiful vessels, of my gold, and my silver, which I gave thee, and thou madest thee images of men, and hast committed fornication with them.
18 E, presele vesti variopinte, le copristi e ponesti dinanzi ad esse il mio olio e il mio incenso.	18 And thou tookest thy garments of divers colours, and coveredst them : and settest my oil and my sweet incense before them.
19 E il mio pane che ti avevo donato, e il fior di farina, l'olio, il miele, coi quali ti avevo nutrita, li ponesti dinanzi ad esse, in odore soave: così fu — dico il Signore Dio.	19 And my bread which I gave thee, the fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou hast set before them for a sweet odour; and it was done, saith the Lord God.
20 E prendesti i tuoi figli, le tue figlie che mi avevi generate, e le immolasti ad esse, facendole divorare. E' dunque piccola cosa la tua prostituzione?	20 And thou hast taken thy sons, and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne to me: and best sacrificed the same to them to be devoured. Is thy fornication small?
21 Hai immolati i miei figli, e dopo averli consacrati, li hai dati agli idoli.	21 Thou hast sacrificed and given my children to them, consecrating them by fire.
22 E dopo tutte le tue abominazioni e fornicazioni non ti sei ricordata dei giorni della tua adolescenza, quando eri nuda, piena di vergogna, e calpestata nel tuo sangue.	22 And after all thy abominations, and fornications, thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked, and full of confusion, trodden under foot in thy own blood.
23 E dopo tante tue malvagità — guai, guai a te, dice il Signore —	23 And it came to pass after all thy wickedness (woe, woe to thee, saith the Lord God)
24 ti sei fabbricati dei lupanari, hai alzati postriboli in tutte le piazze.	24 That thou didst also build thee a common stew, and madest thee a brothel house in every street.
25 Àd ogni capo di strada hai posto il segno di tua prostituzione, hai resa abominevole la tua bellezza, ti sei data a chiunque passasse, ed hai moltiplicate le tue fornicazioni.	25 At every head of the way thou hast set up a sign of thy prostitution: and hast made thy beauty to be abominable: and hast prostituted thyself to every one that passed by, and hast multiplied thy fornications.
26 Ed hai fornicato coi figli dell'Egitto, vicini tuoi, di grossa corporatura, ed hai moltiplicate le tue fornicazioni per irritarmi.	26 And thou hast committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, men of large bodies, and hast multiplied thy fornications to provoke me.
27 Ecco io stenderò la mia mano sopra di te, e toglierò la tua giustificazione, e ti abbandonerò a chi ti odia, alle figlie della Palestina, che arrossiscano della tua vita scellerata.	27 Behold, I will stretch out my hand upon thee, and will take away thy justification: and I will deliver thee up to the will of the daughters of the Philistines that hate thee, that are ashamed of thy wicked way.
28 E tu non ancora sazia, hai fornicato coi figli degli Assiri, ed anche dopo aver fornicato non sei sazia.	28 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Assyrians, because thou wast not yet satisfied: and after thou hadst played the harlot with them, even so thou wast not contented.
29 Ed hai moltiplicate le tue fornicazioni nella terra di Canaan con i Caldei, e nemmeno così sei sazia.	29 Thou hast also multiplied thy fornications in the land of Chanaan with the Chaldeans: and neither so wast then satisfied.
30 Come potrò purificare il tuo cuore — dice il Signore Dio — quando fai tutte queste opere di donna meretrice e sfacciata?	30 Wherein shall I cleanse thy heart, saith the Lord God: seeing thou dost all these the works of a shameless prostitute?
31 Alzando il tuo postribolo al capo d'ogni via, facendo un alto luogo in Cigni piazza, non sei stata come una meretrice che fa la ritrosa per accrescere il prezzo,	31 Because thou hast built thy brothel house at the head of every way, and thou hast made thy high place in every street: and wast not as a harlot that by disdain enhanceth her price,
32 ma come donna adultera che prende stranieri nel posto del suo marito.	32 But as an adulteress, that bringeth in strangers over her husband.
33 A tutte le meretrici si dà la mercede, tu invece hai data la mercede ai tuoi amanti, hai dati loro dei doni, perchè da ogni parte venissero a fornicare con te.	33 Gifts are given to all harlots: but thou hast given hire to all thy lovers, and thou hast given them gifts to come to thee from every side, to commit fornication with thee.
34 E' avvenuto riguardo a te il contrario di quel che usan le donne, nelle tue fornicazioni e dopo di te non esisterà tale fornicazione, chè tu hai data la mercede senza riceverla: in te è avvenuto il rovescio.	34 And it hath happened in thee contrary to the custom of women in thy fornications, and after thee there shall be no such fornication: for in that thou gavest rewards, and didst not take rewards, the contrary hath been done in thee.
35 Per questo, o meretrice, ascolta la parola del Signore.	35 Therefore, O harlot, hear the word of the Lord.
36 Ecco quanto dice il Signore: Perchè hai gettato il tuo danaro e scoperta la tua nudità nelle fornicazioni coi tuoi amanti, coi tuoi idoli abominevoli, col sangue dei tuoi figli che hai dati ad essi,	36 Thus saith the Lord God: Because thy money hath been poured out, and thy shame discovered through thy fornications with thy lovers, and with the idols of thy abominations, by the blood of thy children whom thou gavest them:
37 Teoco io radunerò tutti i tuoi amanti coi quali ti sei unita, e tutti quelli che hai amati con tutti quelli che hai odiati, li radunerò contro di te da tutte le parti, e scoprirò dinanzi ad essi la tua nudità, ed essi vedranno tutte le tue turpitudini.	37 Behold, I will gather together all thy lovers with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all whom thou hast loved, with all whom thou hast hated: and I will gather them together against thee on every side, and will discover thy shame in their sight, and they shall see all thy nakedness.
38 E ti giudicherò come si giudica l'adultera e la sanguinaria, e ti abbandonerò alla strage del furore e della gelosia.	38 And I will judge thee as adulteresses, and they that shed blood are judged: and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.
39 E ti darò nelle loro mani, e abbatteranno il tuo lupanare, e demoliranno il tuo postribolo, e ti spoglieranno delle tue vesti, e porteran via i tuoi ornamenti, e ti lasceranno nuda e piena d'ignominia.	39 And I will deliver thee into their hands, and they shall destroy thy brothel house, and throw down thy stews: and they shall strip thee of thy garments, and shall take away the vessels of thy beauty: and leave thee naked, and full of disgrace.
40 E raduneranno contro di te la moltitudine e ti lapideranno (caricandoti) di pietre, e ti trucideranno colle loro spade.	40 And they shall bring upon thee a multitude, and they shall stone thee with stones, and shall slay thee with their swords.
41 E daranno alle fiamme le tue case, ed eseguiranno i giudizi contro di te alla presenza di moltissime donne, e tu finirai di fornicare, e non darai più mercede.	41 ,41And they shall burn thy houses with fire, and shall execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and thou shalt cease from fornication, and shalt give no hire any more.
42 Ed avrà posa il mio sdegno contro di te, e da te s'allontanerà la mia gelosia, e starò quieto e non sarò più irritato.	42 And my indignation shall rest in thee: and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will cease and be angry no more.
43 perchè tu non ti sei ricordata dei giorni della tua adolescenza, e mi hai provocato con tutte queste cose, per questo io ho fatto ricadere sopra il tuo capo le tue opere — dice il Signore Dio — e non ti ho trattato secondo le tue scelleratezze e tutte le tue abominazioni.	43 Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast provoked me in all these things: wherefore I also have turned thy ways upon thy head, saith the Lord God, and I have not done according to thy wicked deeds in all thy abominations.
44 Ecco che tutti quelli che dicono al volgo dei proverbi contro di te si serviran di quello che dice: « Quale la madre, tale la figlia di lei ».	44 Behold every one that useth a common proverb, shall use this against thee, saying: As the mother was, so also is her daughter.
45 Tu sei proprio figlia di tua madre, che abbandonò il suo marito e i suoi figlioli, sei sorella delle tue sorelle, che abbandonarono i loro mariti e i loro figli: la vostra madre è Cetea, il vostro padre è l'Amorreo.	45 Thou art thy mother's daughter, that cast off her husband, and her children: and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who cast off their husbands, and their children: your mother was a Cethite, and your father an Amorrhite.
46 Tua sorella maggiore è Samaria con le sue figlie, che sono alla tua sinistra; la tua sorella minore, che sta alla tua destra, è Sodoma con le sue figlie.	46 And thy elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister that dwelleth at thy right hand is Sodom, and her daughters.
47 E tu non hai battute le loro strade, non hai agito secondo le loro scelleratezze, troppo poco; in tutta la tua condotta hai fatte cose quasi più scellerate delle loro.	47 But neither hast thou walked in their ways, nor hast thou done a little less than they according to their wickednesses: thou hast done almost more wicked things than they in all thy ways
48 Io vivo — dice il Signore Dio: — la tua stessa sorella, Sodoma, con le sue figlie, non ha fatto quello che hai fatto tu e le tue figlie.	48 as I live, saith the Lord God, thy sister Sodom herself, and her daughters, have not done as thou hast done, and thy daughters.
49 Ecco qual fu l'iniquità di Sodoma, tua sorella: la superbia, l'esser piena di cibo, l'abbondanza, l'ozio di lei e delle sue figlie, e non stendevano la mano all'indigente e al povero.	49 Behold this was the iniquity of Sodom thy sister, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance, and the idleness of her, and of her daughters: and they did not put forth their hand to the needy, and to the poor.
50 E s'inorgoglirono e fecero abominazioni davanti a me, ed io le spazzai via, come tu hai veduto.	50 And they were lifted up, and committed abominations before me: and I took them away as thou hast seen.
51 Ed anche Samaria non fece la metà dei tuoi peccati; tu le sorpassasti con le tue scelleratezze, e tu hai fatto apparir giuste le tue sorelle con tutte le tue abominazioni da te commesse.	51 And Samaria committed not half thy sins: but thou hast surpassed them with thy crimes, and hast justified thy sisters by all thy abominations which thou hast done.
52 Porta dunque la tua confusione anche tu che hai superate le tue sorelle coi tuoi peccati, ed hai fatto peggio di loro, in modo da renderle giuste a tuo paragone. Anche tu dunque vergognati e porta la tua ignominia, tu che hai fatto apparir giuste le tue sorelle.	52 Therefore do thou also bear thy confusion, thou that hast surpassed thy sisters with thy sine, doing more wickedly than they: for they are justified above thee, therefore be thou also confounded, and bear thy shame, thou that hast justified thy sisters.
53 Ma io farò ritornare al loro posto gli schiavi di Sodoma e delle sue figlie, gli schiavi di Samaria e delle sue figlie, e in mezzo a quelli di loro farò tornare i tuoi schiavi,	53 And I will bring back and restore them by bringing back Sodom, with her daughters, and by bringing back Samaria, and her daughters: and I will bring those that return of thee in the midst of them.
54 affinchè tu porti la tua ignominia e sii confusa per tutte quelle cose che hai fatte, e sii per loro di consolazione.	54 That thou mayest bear thy shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, comforting them.
55 Così la tua sorella Sodoma e le sue figlie torneranno al loro antico stato, e Sa­maria e le sue figlie torneranno al loro antico stato, e tu e le tue figlie tornerete al vostro antico stato.	55 And thy sister Sodom and her daughters shall return to their ancient state: and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their ancient state: and thou and thy daughters shall return to your ancient state.
56 La tua sorella Sodoma non fu sentita sulla tua bocca nel giorno del tuo orgoglio,	56 And Sodom thy sister was not heard of in thy mouth, in the day of thy pride,
57 prima che fosse scoperta la tua malizia come ora agli oltraggi delle figlie della Siria, e di tutte le figlie di Palestina che hai all'intorno e ti cingono da ogni lato.	57 Before thy malice was laid open: as it is at this time, making thee a reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all the daughters of Palestine round about thee, that encompass thee on all sides.
58 Tu hai portato il tuo delitto e la tua ignominia — dice il Signore Dio.	58 Thou hast borne thy wickedness, and thy disgrace, saith the Lord God.
59 Infatti, così dice il Signore: Agirò con te come tu hai agito, disprezzando il giuramento e rendendo vano il patto.	59 For thus saith the Lord God: I will deal with thee, as thou hast despised the oath, in breaking the covenant:
60 Ma io mi ricorderò del mio patto, che feci teco nei giorni della tua adolescenza, e stabilirò con te un patto sempiterno.	60 And I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth: and I will establish with thee an everlasting covenant.
61 E ti ricorderai della tua condotta o ti vergognerai quando tu riceverai teco le tue sorelle maggiori di te con quelle di te minori, ed io te le darò come figliole, ma non in virtù del tuo patto.	61 And thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed: when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thy elder and thy younger: and I will give them to thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.
62 E io stabilirò con te il mio patto e tu saprai che io sono il Signore,	62 And I will establish my covenant with thee: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord,
63 e, ricordando, arrossirai e non avrai l'ardire di aprire la bocca dalla vergogna, quando io ti avrò perdonato tutto quello che hai fatto — dice il Signore Dio ».	63 That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and mayest no more open thy mouth because of thy confusion, when I shall be pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord God.
