Salmi 10

1 Perché, o Signore, ti sei ritirato [e te ne stai] lontano? non badi [a noi] nel momento opportuno, nella tribolazione?	1 Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
2 Per l' insolentir dell'empio arde [e si consuma] il misero: resta preso nelle trame che quegli escogita.	2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
3 Perocchè si vanta l'empio delle cupidigie dell'anima sua, e l' iniquo si chiama beato,	3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.
4 si ribella al Signore. L'empio nell'eccesso di sua arroganza non cerca [Dio];	4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
5 non c' è Dio in faccia a lui! Sozze son le sue vie in ogni tempo, lontano stanno i tuoi giudizi dalla sua vista. Di tutti i suoi nemici mena trionfo;	5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
6 dice in cuor suo: «Non sarò smosso; d'età in età senza malanno!».	6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
7 Di maledizione è piena la sua bocca e d'acerbità e d'inganno, sotto la sua lingua [c'è] travaglio e afflizione.	7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
8 Sta in agguato con i ricchi, ne' nascondigli, per uccider l'innocente.	8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
9 I suoi occhi spiano il misero; si rimpiatta nel nascondiglio, qual leone nella sua tana. Si rimpiatta per agguantare il misero, per agguantare il misero attirandolo [nella sua rete].	9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
10 Col suo laccio l'abbatte, si china e [gli] piomba [addosso], impadronitosi degl'infelici.	10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
11 Dice invero in cuor suo: «Iddio, s' è dimenticato; ha voltato in là la sua faccia, così da non veder mai [nulla] !».	11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
12 Sorgi, o Signore Iddio, si levi la tua mano!non dimenticare i meschini.	12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.
13 Perchè mai l'empio insulterebbe Iddio? Giacchè ha detto in cuor suo: «Non se ne cura [Iddio] !».	13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
14 Ma tu ci vedi! poiché il travaglio e l'afflizione tu osservi, per pigliar costoro nelle tue mani. A te s'abbandona il misero, dell'orfano tu sei l'aiuto.	14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
15 Spezza il braccio dell'empio e del malvagio: si cercherà l'empietà sua e [più] non si troverà!	15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
16 Il Signore regna in eterno e per i secoli de' secoli: perirete, o genti, lontano dalla sua terra.	16 The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.
17 Il desiderio degli umili ascolta il Signore; alla disposizione del loro cuore sta attento il suo orecchio,	17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
18 per far giustizia all'orfano e al tapino, sicchè più a lungo non si glori uom sulla terra.	18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
19 - Al corifeo. Salmo di David.
20 Nel Signore io confido. Come mai mi dite voi: «Fuggi via sul monte come un passero?».
21 «Perchè» [voi dite] «ecco i malvagi tendono l'arco, han pronte le loro frecce nella faretra, per saettar nell'oscurità i retti di cuore.
22 Tutto ciò che hai stabilito, [a tua difesa], essi han distrutto, e il giusto che può fare [ormai]?».
23 Il Signore è nel santo suo tempio, il Signore nel cielo ha il suo trono. I suoi occhi guardano al misero, e le sue ciglia scrutano i figli degli uomini.
24 Il Signore scruta il giusto e l'empio, e chi ama l'iniquità odia l'anima propria.
25 Egli pioverà lacci sugli empi; fuoco, zolfo e vento di procella sarà la porzione del loro calice.
26 Perché giusto è il Signore e le giuste opere ha care: all'equità guarda il suo volto.
