BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Dopo questi fatti Nabot di Jezrael, aveva in quel tempo una vigna, la quale si trovava in Jezrael, accanto al palazzo di Acab, re di Samaria.	1 This is what happened next: Naboth of Jezreel had a vineyard close by the palace of Ahab king ofSamaria,
2 Acab parlò così a Nabot: «Dammi la tua vigna per farne un orto da erbaggi, poichè è vicina alla mia casa; in cambio ti darò una vigna migliore, oppure, se preferisci, te la pagherò con giusto prezzo d'argento».	2 and Ahab said to Naboth, 'Give me your vineyard to be my vegetable garden, since it adjoins mypalace; I will give you a better vineyard for it or, if you prefer, I wil give you its value in money.'
3 Ma Nabot gli rispose: «Mi guardi il Signore dal dare a te l'eredità dei miei padri».	3 Naboth, however, said to Ahab, 'Yahweh forbid that I should give you my ancestral heritage!'
4 Acab venne perciò in casa indignato e irritato per la risposta avuta da Nabot Jezraelita, il quale aveva detto: «Non ti darò la eredità di mio padre». E gettatosi su un letto, volse la sua faccia alla parete e non volle prender cibo.	4 Ahab went home gloomy and out of temper at the words of Naboth of Jezreel, 'I wil not give you myheritage from my ancestors.' He lay down on his bed and turned his face away and refused to eat.
5 Jezabel sua moglie venne da lui e gli disse: «Perchè ciò? Perchè la tua anima è contristata? Perchè non mangi?».	5 His wife Jezebel came to him. 'Why are you so dispirited,' she said, 'that you refuse to eat?'
6 Egli le rispose: «Ho parlato con Nabot Jezraelita e gli ho detto: - Dammi la tua vigna a prezzo di denaro, oppure, se preferisci, ti darò in cambio una vigna migliore -; ma egli rispose: - Non ti darò la mia vigna -».	6 He said, 'I have been talking to Naboth of Jezreel. I said, "Give me your vineyard either for money or, ifyou prefer, for another vineyard in exchange." But he said, "I wil not give you my vineyard." '
7 Allora Jezabel sua moglie gli disse: «Hai davvero una grande autorità e reggi bene il regno d'Israele! Levati però e mangia e sta' di buon animo; io ti darò la vigna di Nabot Jezraelita».	7 Then his wife Jezebel said, 'Some king of Israel you make! Get up, eat and take heart; I myself shalget you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.'
8 Scritta quindi una lettera in nome di Acab e sigillatala col suggello di lui, la mandò agli anziani e agli ottimati, che erano nella città e abitavano con Nabot.	8 So she wrote a letter in Ahab's name and sealed it with his seal, sending the letter to the elders and notables of the city where Naboth lived.
9 La lettera era di questo tenore: «Pubblicate un digiuno e fatto sedere Nabot tra i principali del popolo,	9 In the letter, she wrote, 'Proclaim a fast, and put Naboth in a prominent place among the people.
10 subornate due uomini figli di Belial, i quali contro di lui testifichino il falso, dicendo: - Ha bestemmiato Dio e il re -; e poi conducetelo fuori e lapidatelo e così muoia!».	10 There confront him with a couple of scoundrels who wil accuse him as follows, "You have cursedGod and the king." Then take him outside and stone him to death.'
11 I suoi concittadini, gli anziani e i notabili che abitavano con lui in quella città, fecero quanto aveva comandato di fare Jezabel e come stava scritto nella lettera, ch'essa aveva inviata a loro.	11 The men of Naboth's city, the elders and notables living in his city, did what Jezebel ordered, as waswritten in the letter which she had sent him.
12 Intimarono un digiuno e fecero sedere Nabot tra i principali del popolo:	12 They proclaimed a fast and put Naboth in a prominent place among the people.
13 poi fatti venire due uomini malvagi li fecero sedere contro di lui: e costoro da veri uomini perversi diedero, al cospetto della moltitudine, questa testimonianza: «Nabot ha bestemmiato Dio e il re». Perciò lo condussero fuori della città e lo uccisero lapidandolo.	13 The two scoundrels then came and confronted him, and the scoundrels then publicly accused Nabothas fol ows, 'Naboth has cursed God and the king.' He was then taken outside the city and stoned to death.
14 Poi mandarono a dire a Jezabel: «Nabot è stato lapidato ed è morto».	14 They then sent word to Jezebel, 'Naboth has been stoned to death.'
15 Quando Jezabel seppe che Nabot era stato lapidato ed era morto, disse ad Acab: «Levati e prendi possesso della vigna di Nabot Jezraelita, che si rifiutò di fare a modo tuo e di dartela dietro compenso in denaro; poichè Nabot non vive più, ma è morto».	15 When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned to death, she said to Ahab, 'Get up! Takepossession of the vineyard which Naboth of Jezreel refused to sel you, for Naboth is no longer alive, he is dead.'
16 Acab avendo udito una tal cosa, che cioè Nabot era morto, si levò e discese verso la vigna di Nabot per prenderne possesso.	16 When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, he got up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth of Jezreeland take possession of it.
17 Frattanto la voce del Signore parlò ad Elia il Tesbite in questi termini:	17 Then the word of Yahweh came to Elijah the Tishbite,
18 «Levati e scendi incontro ad Acab, re d'Israele, che è in Samaria; eccolo, egli discende nella vigna di Nabot per prenderne possesso.	18 'Up! Go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, in Samaria. You will find him in Naboth's vineyard; he hasgone down to take possession of it.
19 Tu gli dirai: - Così parla il Signore: " Hai ucciso e di più ti sei impossessato ". - E poi aggiungerai: - Così dice il Signore: " Nel luogo stesso ove i cani hanno leccato il sangue di Nabot, i cani leccheranno anche il tuo sangue "- ».	19 You are to say this to him, "Yahweh says this: You have committed murder and now you usurp aswel . For this -- and Yahweh says this -- in the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth, the dogs will lickyour blood too." '
20 Rispose Acab ad Elia: «Mi hai tu dunque trovato tuo nemico?». Elia disse: «Sì, ti ho trovato [tale], poichè ti sei venduto per fare il male al cospetto del Signore;	20 Ahab said to Elijah, 'So you have caught me, O my enemy!' Elijah answered, 'I have caught you! Foryour double dealing, and since you have done what is displeasing to Yahweh,
21 perciò io farò venire sopra di te la sventura, io mieterò la tua posterità e sterminerò dalla casa di Acab chiunque orina contro al muro, chi è rinchiuso e chi è ultimo in Israele;	21 I shal now bring disaster down on you; I shal sweep away your descendants and wipe out everymanjack of the House of Ahab, fettered or free in Israel.
22 e ridurrò la tua casa come la casa di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat e come la casa di Baasa figlio di Aia, perchè tu hai agito in modo da provocarmi alla collera e hai fatto peccare Israele».	22 I shal treat your House as I treated the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and of Baasha son of Ahijah,for provoking my anger and leading Israel into sin.
23 Anche contro Jezabel parlò il Signore, dicendo: «I cani mangeranno Jezabel nel campo di Jezrael.	23 (Against Jezebel too Yahweh spoke these words, "The dogs wil eat Jezebel in the Field of Jezreel.")
24 Se Acab morirà nella città lo mangeranno i cani; se morirà nella campagna lo divoreranno gli uccelli del cielo».	24 Those of Ahab's family who die in the city, the dogs wil eat; and those who die in the open country,the birds of the air wil eat.'
25 Non vi fu adunque altra persona, che come Acab siasi venduta per fare il male al cospetto del Signore, e fu sua moglie Jezabel che lo spinse a ciò.	25 And indeed there never was anyone like Ahab for double dealing and for doing what is displeasing toYahweh, urged on by Jezebel his wife.
26 Divenne abominevole tanto da seguire gli idoli fatti dagli Amorrei, che il Signore aveva sterminato dalla faccia dei figli d'Israele.	26 He behaved in the most abominable way, adhering to idols, just as the Amorites had, whom Yahwehhad dispossessed for the Israelites.
27 Acab avendo udito tali parole si stracciò le vesti, si coprì la carne col cilicio, digiunò e dormì con un sacco e se ne andava a testa bassa.	27 When Ahab heard these words, he tore his garments and put sackcloth next to his skin and fasted; heslept in the sackcloth; he walked with slow steps.
28 Perciò la parola del Signore si rivolse a Elia Tesbite in questo modo:	28 Then the word of Yahweh came to Elijah the Tishbite,
29 «Hai tu visto Acab umiliato dinanzi a me? Poichè si umiliò davanti a me, io non farò venire la sventura durante la vita di lui; ma durante quella del figliuol suo, manderò la sventura sulla sua casa».	29 'Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Since he has humbled himself before me,I shal not bring the disaster in his days; I shal bring the disaster down on his House in his son's days.'
