1 - Abia regnò sopra Giuda, nel decimo ottavo anno di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat.	1 Then, in the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, Abijam reigned over Judah.
2 Regnò tre anni in Gerusalemme: sua madre aveva nome Maaca ed era figlia di Abessalom.	2 He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Maacah, the daughter of Abishalom.
3 Egli si abbandonò a tutti i peccati, che suo padre aveva commessi prima di lui. Nè il suo cuore fu tutto per il Signore Iddio suo, come lo era stato il cuore di Davide suo padre.	3 And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him. Neither was his heart perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David, his father.
4 Tuttavia per amor di Davide, il Signore suo Dio gli diede una lucerna in Gerusalemme, suscitandogli un figlio dopo di lui e lasciando sussistere Gerusalemme,	4 But for the sake of David, the Lord his God gave to him a lamp in Jerusalem, so that he might raise up his son after him, and so that he might establish Jerusalem.
5 perchè Davide aveva fatto ciò che è giusto agli occhi del Signore e non si era scostato da tutto ciò che aveva a lui comandato durante tutta la sua vita, eccetto il fatto di Uria l'Eteo.	5 For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and he had not declined from all of the things that he had instructed to him, during all the days of his life, except the matter of Uriah, the Hittite.
6 Tuttavia tra Roboamo e Geroboamo vi fu guerra finchè visse Roboamo.	6 Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam during the entire time of his life.
7 Il resto delle azioni di Abia e tutto ciò che egli fece, non è forse stato scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda? Anche tra Abia e Geroboamo vi fu guerra.	7 And the rest of the words of Abijam, and all that he did, were these not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah? And there was fighting between Abijam and Jeroboam.
8 Abia dormì coi padri suoi e venne sepolto nella città di Davide; e Asa suo figlio regnò in vece sua.	8 And Abijam slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David. And Asa, his son, reigned in his place.
9 Asa, re di Giuda, regnò nell'anno ventesimo di Geroboamo, re d'Israele	9 Then, in the twentieth year of Jeroboam, the king of Israel, Asa reigned as king of Judah.
10 e regnò in Gerusalemme quarantun anno. Il nome di sua madre era Maaca figlia di Abessalom.	10 And he reigned for forty-one years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Maacah, the daughter of Abishalom.
11 Asa si diportò bene dinanzi al Signore, come Davide suo padre	11 And Asa did what was right before the sight of the Lord, just as his father David did.
12 e scacciò dal paese gli effeminati e lo purgò di tutte le sozzure degli idoli fabbricati dai padri suoi.	12 And he took away the effeminate from the land. And he purged all the filth of the idols, which his fathers had made.
13 Di più rimosse Maaca sua madre, perchè non fosse direttrice nei santuari di Priapo e nel suo boschetto che essa aveva consacrato. Ne distrusse anche la grotta e spezzò il turpissimo simulacro e lo bruciò nel torrente del Cedron,	13 Moreover, he also removed his mother, Maacah, from being the leader in the sacrifices of Priapus, and in his sacred grove which she had consecrated. And he destroyed his grotto. And he shattered the very indecent idol, and he burned it at the torrent Kidron.
14 ma non tolse gli alti luoghi; tuttavia il cuore di Asa fu tutto per il Signore durante tutta la sua vita	14 But the high places, he did not take away. Yet truly, the heart of Asa was perfect with the Lord during all his days.
15 e mise nella casa del Signore tutto ciò che aveva consacrato il padre suo e che egli aveva offerto in voto, argento, oro e vasi.	15 And he brought the things that his father had sanctified and vowed back to the house of the Lord: the silver, and the gold, and the vessels.
16 Tra Asa e Baasa, re d'Israele, vi fu guerra durante tutta la loro vita.	16 Now there was war between Asa and Baasha, the king of Israel, during all their days.
17 Baasa, re d'Israele, salì in Giuda ed edificò Rama per impedire a quelli di Asa, re di Giuda, di entrare o di uscire.	17 And Baasha, the king of Israel, ascended against Judah. And he built up Ramah, so that no one would be able to exit or enter from the side of Asa, the king of Judah.
18 Asa prese allora tutto l'argento e l'oro che era rimasto nei tesori della casa di Dio e nei tesori della reggia e lo diede in mano dei suoi servi, e li mandò a Benadad figlio di Tabremon figlio di Ezion, re di Siria, che abitava in Damasco, per dirgli:	18 And so, Asa took all the silver and the gold which had remained in the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and in the treasuries of the house of the king, and he gave it into the hands of his servants. And he sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, the king of Syria, who was living in Damascus, saying:
19 «Vi è alleanza fra me e te, tra il padre mio e il padre tuo. Perciò ti mando in regalo argento, oro, e ti prego di venire e di rompere l'alleanza tua con Baasa, re d'Israele, affinchè egli si allontani da me».	19 “There is a pact between me and you, and between my father and your father. For this reason, I have sent to you gifts of silver and of gold. And I ask you to go and break your pact with Baasha, the king of Israel, so that he may withdraw from me.”
20 Benadad diede ascolto al re Asa e mandò i capi del suo esercito contro le città d'Israele e abbatterono Aion, Dan, Abeldomum, Maaca e tutta la terra di Cennerot, vale a dire tutto il territorio di Neftali.	20 Benhadad, acquiescing to king Asa, sent the leaders of his army against the cities of Israel. And they struck Ijon, and Dan, and Abel, the house of Maacah, and all of Chinneroth, that is, all the land of Naphtali.
21 Avendo ciò udito, Baasa cessò di edificare Rama e ritornò a Tersa.	21 And when Baasha had heard this, he ceased from fortifying Ramah, and he returned to Tirzah.
22 Il re Asa poi mandò nunzi per tutto Giuda, dicendo: «Nessuno manchi», e portaron via le pietre di Rama e il legname di cui Baasa si era servito e con essi il re Asa costruì Gabaa di Beniamino e Masfa.	22 Then king Asa sent an announcement to all of Judah, saying, “Let no one be excused.” And they took away the stones from Ramah, and its timber, with which Baasha had fortified it. And from these things, king Asa built up Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.
23 Il resto di tutte le azioni di Asa e di tutte le sue imprese e tutto ciò che fece e le città che costruì, non è forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda? Tuttavia durante la sua vecchiaia ebbe male ai piedi;	23 Now all the rest of the words of Asa, and his entire strength, and all that he did, and the cities that he built, were these not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah? Yet truly, in the time of his old age, he was afflicted in his feet.
24 e dormì coi padri suoi e fu sepolto con essi nella città di Davide, e regnò Josafat, suo figlio, in luogo di lui.	24 And he slept with his fathers, and he was buried with them in the city of David, his father. And Jehoshaphat, his son, reigned in his place.
25 Nadab poi figlio di Geroboamo regnò sopra Israele l'anno secondo di Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò due anni sopra Israele.	25 Yet truly, Nadab, the son of Jeroboam, reigned over Israel, in the second year of Asa, the king of Judah. And he reigned over Israel for two years.
26 E fece ciò che è male al cospetto del Signore e camminò nelle vie di suo padre, e nei peccati coi quali [suo padre] aveva fatto peccare Israele.	26 And he did what is evil in the sight of the Lord. And he walked in the ways of his father and in his sins, by which he caused Israel to sin.
27 Baasa figlio di Aia, della tribù di Issacar, cospirò contro di lui e lo uccise in Gebbeton, che è una città dei Filistei, mentre Nadab e tutto Israele assediavano Gebbeton.	27 Then Baasha, the son of Ahijah, from the house of Issachar, set an ambush against him, and he struck him down at Gibbethon, which is a city of the Philistines. For indeed, Nadab and all of Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
28 Baasa lo uccise nel terzo anno di Asa, re di Giuda, e gli successe sul trono.	28 And so Baasha killed him in the third year of Asa, the king of Judah, and he reigned in his place.
29 Durante il suo regno sterminò tutta la casa di Geroboamo, non lasciando in vita neppur uno della sua discendenza, ma la distrusse interamente, secondo la parola che il Signore aveva pronunziata per bocca del suo servo Aia di Silo,	29 And when he had reigned, he struck down the entire house of Jeroboam. He did not leave behind even one soul from his offspring, until he had wiped him away, in accord with the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by the hand of Ahijah, the Shilonite,
30 a cagione dei peccati che Geroboamo aveva commessi e fatti commettere da Israele e a causa del delitto di aver irritato il Signore Dio d'Israele.	30 because of the sin of Jeroboam, which he had committed, and by which he had caused Israel to sin, and because of the offense by which he had provoked the Lord, the God of Israel.
31 Il resto delle azioni di Nadab e tutto ciò che egli operò, non è forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re d'Israele?	31 But the rest of the words of Nadab, and all that he did, were these not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?
32 Tra Asa e Baasa re di Israele vi fu guerra durante la loro vita.	32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha, the king of Israel, during all their days.
33 Nel terzo anno di Asa, re di Giuda, Baasa figlio di Aia regnò sopra tutto Israele in Tersa per ventiquattro anni.	33 In the third year of Asa, the king of Judah, Baasha, the son of Ahijah, reigned over all of Israel, at Tirzah, for twenty-four years.
34 E fece il male dinanzi al Signore e camminò nelle vie di Geroboamo e nei peccati con cui egli aveva fatto peccare Israele.	34 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord. And he walked in the ways of Jeroboam, and in his sins, by which he caused Israel to sin.
