LXXNEW JERUSALEM
τω δαυιδ ευλογει η ψυχη μου τον κυριον και παντα τα εντος μου το ονομα το αγιον αυτου1 [Prayer of someone afflicted, who in misfortune pours out sorrows before Yahweh] Yahweh, hear myprayer, let my cry for help reach you.
ευλογει η ψυχη μου τον κυριον και μη επιλανθανου πασας τας ανταποδοσεις αυτου2 Do not turn away your face from me when I am in trouble; bend down and listen to me, when I cal ,be quick to answer me!
τον ευιλατευοντα πασαις ταις ανομιαις σου τον ιωμενον πασας τας νοσους σου3 For my days are vanishing like smoke, my bones burning like an oven;
τον λυτρουμενον εκ φθορας την ζωην σου τον στεφανουντα σε εν ελεει και οικτιρμοις4 like grass struck by blight, my heart is withering, I forget to eat my meals.
τον εμπιπλωντα εν αγαθοις την επιθυμιαν σου ανακαινισθησεται ως αετου η νεοτης σου5 From the effort of voicing my groans my bones stick out through my skin.
ποιων ελεημοσυνας ο κυριος και κριμα πασι τοις αδικουμενοις6 I am like a desert-owl in the wastes, a screech-owl among ruins,
εγνωρισεν τας οδους αυτου τω μωυση τοις υιοις ισραηλ τα θεληματα αυτου7 I keep vigil and moan like a lone bird on a roof.
οικτιρμων και ελεημων ο κυριος μακροθυμος και πολυελεος8 Al day long my enemies taunt me, those who once praised me now use me as a curse.
ουκ εις τελος οργισθησεται ουδε εις τον αιωνα μηνιει9 Ashes are the food that I eat, my drink is mingled with tears,
ου κατα τας αμαρτιας ημων εποιησεν ημιν ουδε κατα τας ανομιας ημων ανταπεδωκεν ημιν10 because of your fury and anger, since you have raised me up only to cast me away;
οτι κατα το υψος του ουρανου απο της γης εκραταιωσεν κυριος το ελεος αυτου επι τους φοβουμενους αυτον11 my days are like a fading shadow, I am withering up like grass.
καθ' οσον απεχουσιν ανατολαι απο δυσμων εμακρυνεν αφ' ημων τας ανομιας ημων12 But you, Yahweh, are enthroned for ever, each generation in turn remembers you.
καθως οικτιρει πατηρ υιους οικτιρησεν κυριος τους φοβουμενους αυτον13 Rise up, take pity on Zion! the time has come to have mercy on her, the moment has come;
οτι αυτος εγνω το πλασμα ημων μνησθητι οτι χους εσμεν14 for your servants love her very stones, are moved to pity by her dust.
ανθρωπος ωσει χορτος αι ημεραι αυτου ωσει ανθος του αγρου ουτως εξανθησει15 Then wil the nations revere the name of Yahweh, and al the kings of the earth your glory;
οτι πνευμα διηλθεν εν αυτω και ουχ υπαρξει και ουκ επιγνωσεται ετι τον τοπον αυτου16 when Yahweh builds Zion anew, he will be seen in his glory;
το δε ελεος του κυριου απο του αιωνος και εως του αιωνος επι τους φοβουμενους αυτον και η δικαιοσυνη αυτου επι υιους υιων17 he wil turn to hear the prayer of the destitute, and wil not treat their prayer with scorn.
τοις φυλασσουσιν την διαθηκην αυτου και μεμνημενοις των εντολων αυτου του ποιησαι αυτας18 This shall be put on record for a future generation, and a people yet to be born shal praise God:
κυριος εν τω ουρανω ητοιμασεν τον θρονον αυτου και η βασιλεια αυτου παντων δεσποζει19 Yahweh has leaned down from the heights of his sanctuary, has looked down from heaven to earth,
ευλογειτε τον κυριον παντες οι αγγελοι αυτου δυνατοι ισχυι ποιουντες τον λογον αυτου του ακουσαι της φωνης των λογων αυτου20 to listen to the sighing of the captive, and set free those condemned to death,
ευλογειτε τον κυριον πασαι αι δυναμεις αυτου λειτουργοι αυτου ποιουντες το θελημα αυτου21 to proclaim the name of Yahweh in Zion, his praise in Jerusalem;
ευλογειτε τον κυριον παντα τα εργα αυτου εν παντι τοπω της δεσποτειας αυτου ευλογει η ψυχη μου τον κυριον22 nations wil gather together, and kingdoms to worship Yahweh.
In my journeying my strength has failed on the way;
let me know the short time I have left. Do not take me away before half my days are done, for youryears run on from age to age.
Long ago you laid earth's foundations, the heavens are the work of your hands.
They pass away but you remain; they al wear out like a garment, like outworn clothes you changethem;
but you never alter, and your years never end.
The children of those who serve you wil dwel secure, and their descendants live on in yourpresence.
